Literally have tears in my eyes writing this. Saying this is my dream home is an understatement. Unfortunately my husband and I live in NJ, where the jersey devil sucks you dry for every penny you have and gives nothing in return. Homes like this exist here, just for 1 million dollars and 20k in property taxes. And with covid inflation... forget about it. If you are someone who lives in one of these "middle of nowhere, small towns" TRUST ME YOU ARE LUCKY. Absolutely immaculate home!
This house is so amazing, if I was anywhere near this house I would 100% purchase it but I am also in NJ! If I lived there I would really change very little and keep the beauty of the home and really appreciate every little thing about this home. I hope you and your husband one day find a home like this one!
Same with Florida. And there are fewer Victorian houses here because of the humidity, termites, and hurricanes. A house like this would start at a million dollars. 🫤

I grew up in a 3 story Queen Anne and we HAD to carpet the upstairs, as shown in ur video, due to the cold weather. It helped 80% I would say.... And it was in the southeast ; however, there are a couple of months of Jan-Mid March that get awfully cold. The attic fan is a lifesaver in the summer. @@gloriahanes5338 I live in an early 19th century stone farmhouse with two feet thick walls and the original windows (now with storms on top). I have to disagree about the "warm in winter" part, although it probably would be pretty good if we still had the original wood box stoves in the rooms; a modern heat pump can't quite put out enough heat to warm up the stones so that they radiate heat back at night. Having said that, it is lovely and cool, if a little damp, in the summer, and we often make it into mid-July before having to turn the AC on just in the afternoon.

The room to the left of the front door should be the dining room, while the room with the library shelves should be a library or family room. (especially with the bathroom right off of it? I really don't want a bathroom off my dining room, I know that sounds silly but ick 🤣).
Not silly at all, I’m putting my powder on a whole different floor from the formal living/dining 🤣 as a guest I never feel comfortable if the hosts can see me going to the loo.

I have seen library type shelving in in several Victorian and Edwardian dining rooms. They were original to the house. People in those days had complete and separate sets of china for EVERY occasion. They even had different sets of china for each meal, breakfast, lunch, dinner and supper. These could range from every-day, casual, business, semi-formal, formal and even very rare occasion formal and any or all combinations of these. So, it was common for homeowners to display all of their sets of china all in one place. Thus, all of the shelving in the dining room. It was like a passive yet conspicuous demonstration of their china bragging rights. You did such a beautiful job on this, as you always do.
Omg! How beautiful! I am a Queen Anne fanatic. That is an excellent price for that victorian beauty. So very beautiful! Just stunning! Who ever buys her is getting a bargain. God bless
That home is an absolute steal at that price if the foundation is good. We paid over $500,000 for our historical Victorian in Cheyenne, WY. But, it is valued at over $900,000.
we lucked out, Major Tappan was an engineer, the foundations are sound, the inspection went very well all around and she has been well cared for with only 3 families ever owning.
I was floored by that price! Congrats to whomever was fortunate enough to buy that glorious gem of a home. I would feel like I was in a fairy tale if it were mine. I'd probably just zone out all day staring at the fireplaces taking in their beauty. If I were presented with such an opportunity near where I live I think I'd sell my current home without hesitating to live in something so wonderful.
Thank you, we also feel like it was a faery tale and feel very lucky to have found her! We were able to jump for her since we both work remotely. Houses like this in other areas are double the price or far more than that even.
This house is gorgeous. It reminds me of Steven and Tabitha Kings home in Bangor ME. I used to live a street over from him and I never got tired of seeing his house. These old houses have so much character.
Beautiful deal. I really believe the original purpose of the room to the right of the entry is the parlor, through to the library-they often had pocket doors to draw-thus all the shelves, low light over a low table; the dining room is the one adjacent to the kitchen with the swinging door for serving. The fireplaces are fabulous.
I think you are correct and it is now this way again, the room to the right is a parlour, then leading to an office-library, with the dining room on the left side, leading into the kitchen. That flow works well for us.
This home has so much charm and appeal! I didn’t care for the kitchen. Or the master bathroom setup. It was too modern in the master bathroom. For the old home. I would remodel it to match the rest of the home. The big spaces were nice. The fireplaces were absolutely stunning! I would love to live out my final days in a house like this!

San Francisco, the few that are that size, would be more like $10-$15 😮 (IF they even hit the market, which they WOULDN'T due to foreign investors with cash offers, that would be the first to know!) Rest of the Bay Area, hard to say. Especially East Oakland!
Gorgeous! Though that kitchen and family roomish area is completely out of place in that home. What I loved was the honest-to-God attic space. So many old homes have their attics turned into living space, that you have to rent storage spaces elsewhere to store things not needed at the moment (like Christmas decorations). Now, if only I had a reason to move to Arkansas.
Keep dreaming, keep studying and researching, and you will be ready for one when it comes, and I trust it will! I was the same at your age and kept researching this time period, which is part of the reason WHY the house video popped up for me quickly enough for me to buy it in my grown-self life

This gorgeous Queen Anne home was featured in the book "America's Painted Ladies." It received mixed reactions when it was given it's current polychrome paint scheme. It is absolutely stunning inside and out. Clearly the historically accurate colors grew on people.
Definitely a trend towards going with original colors on the exterior. Less so with interior. I cringe when I see a beautiful wooden mantel painted white.
We love her colors, they are distinctive enough to stand out, 8 in number, but also soft and natural enough not to steal attention ALL from the magnificent grounds and natural features of the property so I think it is a lovely balance. Excellently chosen exterior color scheme and we will be keeping it for sure.

You did an amazing job with this tour. I felt like I was touring the house with some old friends I hadn't seen in a while. Excellent work showing such a beautiful home! Thank you for sharing it with us, and I hope the new owners love it as much as we do!
Hello how are you doing 😊😊😊😊
Girl you should be getting a commission for selling houses. This is my style. The price is incredible. You do a wonderful job of describing the house. I would be reading notes. I am always so excited to see your newest video. Thanks so much.
I am sure she is getting paid.
@@inspire734 No Ma'am, she did this gratis, and for the love of the house, truly wanting someone to 'come and get it', because it's an extraordinary PRIZE for what it is. This kind of house (she has said) is not her gig, she rescues the ones needing the TLC, the ones in danger of getting Demo'd, etc (IMO)...and this one basically just needs some cosmetic touches and then the ongoing upkeep they all need. Source: her livestreams and other videos and speakinga bit to her. We are the new owner of THIS one.
I love that you show us the places that the other home tours skip over.
This is a beautiful home. We live in Canada and were very interested in buying something like this. I hope there will be more like this. What a great price for that home. Keep doing what you are doing in restoring these old beauties. Such charm and character that you don't see in newer homes today.
I love how she rushes through that horrid kitchen 😂😂
Our neighbors in New York had one of those big attic fans. It worked amazingly well. The whole house cooled down in a matter of minutes.
I don't think it's horrid
Oh no why does the kitchen look so modern XD
@@juansierra5704 yea I have those in my house. But the worst thing that happened when I was little is that a bat came down 0-0 hey but now I am moving out of my house
I guess all I can say is please feel very sorry for me as I cook on my Thermador cooktop and bake in my Kitchen Aid convection ovens...This kitchen is nicer than many modern kitchens, and ALL modern tract home kitchens if we are comparing...and yes it is more modern, obviously - but we are not living history re-creationists either! If the home was restored to the original design, you must go OUTside to even access the kitchen and I have toured enough actual Victorian kitchens to be very glad this one was modernized. :)
I teared up at the entrance way. So beautiful! So tempting. If I didn't have an elderly father that I need to stay near I would have no problem joining you in Arkansas and living in this home. What a deal. Thank you for the thoughtfully guided tour.
I recently remodeled an 1800s home and can appreciate the work that goes into it. EVERYTHING is custom. 179,000 is a steal.
LOVE all the incredible high ceilings!! My husband is 6'8'' and you have NO idea how hard that is to find!!!
YES!!! Original windows, doors, lighting & radiant heat...house is exquisite!
That price is unreal for that gorgeous home!!
In summer, Open windows and flip on the big fan. I never ever remember being hot at night. Howeva, if it is during the day it does get warm upstairs in these houses....but who the heck hangs out in the upstairs bedrooms in the day...we didn't ? Great house with lots of children to create wonderful memories!
You have a point about carpet in cold weather! Never would have thought about it, but I see how that would really help.
@@gloriahanes5338 thanks for info. Our's was cypress and all walls insulated with newspapers. Interestingly today, some companies sell the high priced insulation which is now finely shredded treated newspapers they blow into walls and ceilings. Guess the 1800 folks had a great idea for insulation. Wasn't good enough on southern hot or cold days back then however.
I don't know how long you have been hosting videos but your fantastic. Your delivery is natural and engaging. The house is amazing and so much fun through your eyes.
I agree!
Wow, this is a masterpiece in every way. The detailing and care is unmatched in any new build you will find today.
Be still my heart!! If that were my home, I wouldn’t need a stay at home order to keep me home, because I would NEVER leave! Stunning, absolutely stunning! I pray that whoever is blessed with owning this masterpiece will treat it with the love and care it deserves. I wish it was mine! 😢
Also very home-body person except for travel adventures and yep, she's our dream and we will keep her well!
That home is AMAZING! I would use the turqoise room with the bookcases on each wall as a study, rather than a dining room.
I love the high ceilings, it makes a home so much more glamorous and spacious.
Wow. That is a beautiful home that has been loved and remains in brilliant condition. Has so much character. Thought it looked a bit spooky at first but soon changed my mind. Far too airy and bright once you got inside. I hope the new owners respect the wealth of original features. Sending best wishes from the UK
Have always loved this home. Took our Senior class photos in the garden. Thank you for loving my hometown and describing this gorgeous home so lovingly❤
that's awesome! Glamour Shots?
How did you like your hometown? People are screaming crime but rarely does that tell the real stories.
We own a home here and have never had any issues whatsoever. Helena joined with West- Helena in 2006 (yes, they were two cities) so the city is now Helena West-Helena. The crime rates are mostly- sadly- domestic crimes. But we love the town and feel nothing but safe and at home.
We are glad to come and live here, I love hearing the happy memories of people like you who also enjoyed the home. We need to do some infrastructure maintenance ourdoors, but we will also re-open the garden for selected events, tours and things too and share her beauty. I am glad you remember a nice time here
The lady did a great job high-lighting the house's best points.
It wasn’t that hard we can both agree the house speaks for itself

We will take care of and maintain her well!
Thank you for taking the time out to share this. She sure is a beauty and will make someone happy.
The room to the left of the front door should be the dining room, while the room with the library shelves should be a library or family room. (especially with the bathroom right off of it? I really don't want a bathroom off my dining room, I know that sounds silly but ick 🤣).
A desk would fit perfectly adjacent to the entry
Not silly! Ick is right!
You are right, I was thinking the same.
I 💯agree
Not silly at all, I’m putting my powder on a whole different floor from the formal living/dining 🤣 as a guest I never feel comfortable if the hosts can see me going to the loo.
This is my dream home!!!!!! It breaks my heart knowing that someone may get it and change even a single thing. ❤️❤️❤️ I hope I can have this home or one exactly like it one day!!! ❤️❤️❤️
Girl me too! Its my dream to own a house like this🖤
We will only change something to either restore it or refurbish. :) We love her just as she is so far, she's completely lovely! However I am not saying a modern fusion decor item or 3 may not sneak in, we are Neo-Victorians after all, not living history re-enactors in our daily life! *grin*
If you put Queen Anne style floor plans into Google. It will show you a bunch of free ones and pretty cheap floor plans to purchase that are all this style but have all the modern conveniences like bathrooms and Central AC/heat.
@@angelwhispers2060 That is very true but when you get a contractor to bid them using equivalent materials, you could never have a house built like this for USD$150k, which was the price for this one. Source? I am the new owner who bought her. ;)

God bless
I owned an identical house in Redwood Falls, MN. It was built in 1892. It was beautifully restored.
I hope it still is!!!
i wish they still made houses like this
That home is an absolute steal at that price if the foundation is good. We paid over $500,000 for our historical Victorian in Cheyenne, WY. But, it is valued at over $900,000.
Must be nice
Maybe it’s haunted lol!
@@triplejruns I don't believe in that and have never seen anything like that, so I would live in it in a heartbeat.
How did you find it? Any tips(:
we lucked out, Major Tappan was an engineer, the foundations are sound, the inspection went very well all around and she has been well cared for with only 3 families ever owning.
It’s such a pleasure to watch this tour because, as another poster mentioned, the video work is superior! Thank you for that!
Woodwork is unbelievably beautiful.
😮woooooow!! This House So Beautiful 😍
That house is definitely modern enough that I wouldn't feel like it was haunted. I'm sure it will sell quickly!
This house is gorgeous. It reminds me of Steven and Tabitha Kings home in Bangor ME. I used to live a street over from him and I never got tired of seeing his house. These old houses have so much character.
very cool
I'm blown away by the price! That house, if it was here in Washington state would be a million dollars or more. wow, just wow!
It's a bargain because 99% of the country has a lower crime rate than Helena.
about $3.5 million. in king county you can't get a one bedroom condo for this price. mind blowing. off to review crime stats in helena, ak!!!

For reals! There’s some beautiful Victorians in the Angeleno Heights neighborhood in LA. I was expecting a $2 mil price tag. But wow $179k, I’m shook!
That house would be $3-$4 million in Sacramento. San Francisco, the few that are that size, would be more like $10-$15 😮 (IF they even hit the market, which they WOULDN'T due to foreign investors with cash offers, that would be the first to know!) Rest of the Bay Area, hard to say. Especially East Oakland!
Living in Brazil I was expecting 20-30 million

Never heard of this city before, but the home is stunning. Beautifully cared for.
I didn’t watch the entire video but I hope this property is historically protected so the new owners can’t come in and gut it of its history.
That didn't save whatever rooms became that ghastly 90s 'open concept' kitchen. The house has already suffered several grievous indignities.
It's a dilemma, -- your property in America as per constitution, v. the historical society of Nazis-- Me. I'd buy it and to the heck with re-muddling by idiot contractors.
Yes, it is on the National Register of Historic Places since 1974 - we will protect and preserve it, we have no interest in doing anything un-historical to the actual structure.
