This was what I got when I searched for "How to make an umbrella stand." I was enthralled until I saw the end, wow did not expect that!
My dad set it up against our rock house side wall and used it to wrap garden hose on it. It looked great.
Was very handy especially for all 50' of hose.

Mine is 7 feet off the ground, 50' of hose is about 3 loops. I currently have 250 feet of 5/8" hose on it, I do a lot of outdoor burning, brush piles and such. Like to keep the hose handy. These old wheels hung high with big loops of hose are a fast, convenient way to have water available BEFORE it's needed.👍

I was seriously curious what the hell he was gonna do, and a key holder never crossed my mind. All that work for something so simple. But hey one man's trash is another mans treasure.
lovely idea but involves a lot of heavy toolwork, drilling chisling grinding, banging, sanding, pressure washing, (great if one has a handy husband willing to do all that) im sure you've got some brilliant ideas, love that glass front a lot of work to hang keys though (but fantastic if someone else is going to do it!) 😁😁😁👍👍👍

Nice video. But why all of that work just to hang a few keys. That’s a lot of welding in a lot of work just to put some keys on the wall. When you could’ve just put the board on the wall with the screws and hung the keys without all of that other stuff around it???. Good work I’m not trying to knock you I like your video just wondering that’s all
I had no clue what he was making. When I saw I thought the exact same thing. Awful lot of work to hang a few keys. And in the end you have a wheel on your wall taking up a lot of space in hanging five or six sets of keys.
It's about recycling and repurposing stuff.

I see no practical purpose for this. When you take old steel to the scrap yard, it gets repurposed and doesnt take hours

As what the other comments say, the project is an overkill for a key cabinet. It's heavy and may pin your arm as you reach for a key. However, the project idea conveys a function that could be used for other projects which the viewers may explore in the future.
Would make a great porthole window .Just fix a catch on it, but to just hang keys behind waste of life.

LOL All of the below basically said it. A flat metal key rack with hooks...BAM! Use these items instead for a nice BBQ Grill.
I use two large truck wheels to make a fire pit. Cut the center out of one and stack them and weld they together
Used tire place out in the country uses a stack of 3 or 4 as a coal stove for heat in their outside bay. Hot as hell
I've been using these old Wheels as boat anchors to throw into rocks to make the boat stay close to the rocks

This video teaches us to go to the end of the video first to find out what the final project finally. Amazing hard work all for just a key aquarium ....unbelievable. skilled guy with a lot of spare time and a lot of spare stuff laying around. Thought this dude was gonna build a wood burning oven, the base of a surfboard building stand or a clever plastic rubbish bag wall holder which would be economically viable with this exact same set up. Good worker though but a waste of materials. I make surfboards and at this time I'm cutting up and welding gas cylinders into a wood burning stove and heater.

You can take pld tires to your big box mechanic shop and they will take old tires off for free. And they can dispose of the tires as well, although it might cost you some money for that
It would've looked so much cooler if the bolts were lugnuts & actually arranged to match your fav car. Could've shown comparison shots of the upcycled rim vs one on a car.

Just what I was looking for a 50 pound wheel on my wall to hang my 2oz key inside. That will go well with my John Deere tractor disc I mounted on the counter to slice cheese.

It might only be 8 minutes & 6 seconds of a video, but I'll guarantee you it took a hell of a lot longer to actually make this.. there are a couple of things wrong with this, 1, that's a huge amount of work to hang a keys, 2, who in their right mind would hang this thing in their house, 3, there's a couple of hours work in that.

I began watching the video thinking that this is going to turn out to being a great recycled useful tool or item. but was quite disappointed by the finished result. Seems a terrible amount of work, labour, time, effort and materials for the finished item to what is basically some where to hang just a few keys,

At least the keys are protected from getting knocked off the hooks. It's a good idea. But there is also other ways similar that could work with not as much effort.

This could also be attached to a base for use as an end table with a swing away top. The compartment could be used for storing items such as remote controls.

For decades, surfboard shapers and glasser's have used old wheels like this for the bases for board racks to build the boards on. The wheel is used as is with a post attached to the middle, and y racks on the top, built either in wood or welded on in metal. The weight of the wheel, keeps the rack steady, and yet they are moveable for different length boards.
I got the same safety flip flop for welding...🤔🙀😜
