Shchedryk (Carol Of The Bells) | WDR Rundfunkchor | Simon Halsey

"Shchedryk" is originally a Ukrainian New Year song and tells of a swallow that promises prosperity the following spring. The song became world famous with new, Christmassy lyrics as "Carol of the Bells" - especially after being included in the "Home Alone" soundtrack. Here, the professional WDR Radio Choir sings the original version of "Shchedryk", composed by Mykola Leontovych - under the baton of legendary choir conductor Simon Halsey.

Ist im Ursprung auch nicht christlich. Es war ein heidnische Lied zum Frühlingsbeginn oder zum neuen Jahr wenn ich es richtig in Erinnerung habe. Also wieder etwas das Christen geklaut haben. Und eigendlich nichts mit Weihnachten zu tun hat XD
