Totally agree with the comments posted by Lakeside, to my eye your scenics and general atmosphere are unequalled by any of the other top model railway channels in the UK. The combination of skill and anonymity render you the ‘Banksy’ of model railways/roads. Thanks for a really superb video.

Your expertise in the weathering really makes the difference on your rolling stock and the close up of the weathered loco standing at the platform is simply stunning. Love some of those angles and the MR brake looks great! Is it new? Have you thought about a small diesel or steam shunter for your goods yard (to arrange the wagons once the main engine has detached)?
I haven't got much work done recently on my layout, but have done a small section around a signal, with a few electrical boxes and stuff. Need some pont rodding now.
I did buy a hobbyking static grass machine for 23 pounds. However, it does not stand the fibres up very well at all - I can do a much better job with my 4 pound puffer bottle. Do you know any reason why this might be? I've connected it to the rails with the clip, and the light comes on. Just only a few bits stand up.
I've also got my gala this weekend, with the Fairburn and Hall arriving tonight via die-cast lowloader!
I'll look forward to your next video, bye!

    • @MouldyRaspberry
      @MouldyRaspberry  5 років тому

Thanks bud. It’s not new, but hasn’t ran too much - so new to video I guess. Yes, that’s a nice idea. I’d just want to make sure it was something reliable that won’t be stalling because of the short wheelbase. Any suggestions? The pod rodding does make a nice addition doesn’t it.
Have you tried holding the sieve pretty close the baseboard, and making sure the batteries are fully juiced? Maybe it’s for some sort of fault. Have you tried holding the clip against the glue? With mine if I touch the sieve to the lie it actually sparks so I can tell the charge has passing through!
Haha love the Fairburn arriving on the low loader!! Nice touch. Looking forward to it, and thanks again.

@@MouldyRaspberry I recommend the new hornby 0-4-0s. They are much better than the old speedy ones. You could even use a chassis and scratch build your own body. I'm not sure how good the hornby pugs are. There's always the new p class and Andrew barclay, or the peckett.
What about the bachmann 03/04. You can pick then up for about 40 quid, especially the M.O.D ones split from set. If your looking from something really cheap, then I recommend the railroad 06 or red bagnall. I have one, they're OK when weathered and only 20 pounds. I'm tempted by the hornby large prairie, but the dapol one, although further behind in development, sounds better. I don't know about you but I really hate hornby's plastic wheel centres. It makes the models feel cheaper and lighter.
Thanks for the static grass help. I might do some weathering this evening, I've been inspired by hornby magazines latest issue. I'd like to know what you think on the shunting engines, and the large prairie?

I’ve seen some old footage and photos of Great Western branch lines with local goods trains made up of a single wagon and brake van! I’ve also seen photos/videos of the where there are so many wagons they go out of the shot. So I guess it depends of how busy the line is and how remote it is. I would have though 5-10 wagons would be typical for a small branch line, probably more in a secondary route with lots of stations to drop wagons off at.

Are you strictly DC or do you also have DCC?

      Just plain old DC 😀

Interesting! So when you have multiple locos on the layout at once do you just slightly derail one?

Because only the main track is is wired to the power, the points/switches isolate the sidings, so I don’t have to derail anything. I just need to make sure each engine is isolated in a siding before I move another one out of a siding elsewhere! It means I can have 8/9 engines on the layout, but with only one moving at any one time.

Ahhh ok I can understand that. Very cool and effective! And cheap compared to DCC of course

Plato argued that theoretical ('essential') perfection was not humanly attainable. But this comes close...
