10:10 sees Batman Long Halloween comic, The Batman 2021 heavily inspired by Long Halloween, Michael Giacchino does the score for The Batman, "Coincidence, I think not"
This is awesome. He did the score for the entire run of LOST, which is, imo, the best scored tv show of all time, a major part of the reason its my favorite show of all time. This series is great.
Didn't realize Giacchino had a pretty cool "career story". Cant believe I never thought about: if you'd like a certain specific gig, shoot for a producer position--then hire yourself! Genius move. If I ever manage to pull that off, then I'll credit Giacchino for the idea when I'm ever a guest on Comic Book Shopping talking about my career story. (jk) Also, pretty cool that he did one of the first (if not the first) live orchestra scores in a video game. Btw, Schnepp & Tzeng & crew: great guest and great episode
Michael's score to the Incredibles is one of my all-time favorite movie scores. The music to the scene where Dash runs on water just blows me away every time.
The Incredibles score is so similar to the early James Bond movie scores! It's awesome but I always think I'm hearing the Incredibles score in a Sean Connery movie! :D
This series continues to impress me with every episode. Can't say enough about how excited you make me to go comix shopping -- as if I needed for incentive. Using celebrities to help the comix industry is using your powers of influence for the good of something I love. So, thanks.
I love how this series has evolved into a device to enable the viewer to learn about the industry people who are into comics as much as discovering new comic books.
He seems to be a genuinely nice guy, I can only imagine how cool was to talk with him behind the scenes, in a more relaxed way. Great job you guys, this show is amazing.
This show has me way more open to walking into a comic book store and buying something, whereas before comic shops seemed like worlds that are off-limits to anyone who isn't a super-Sweaty. Thanks, Schnepp and everybody who makes the show as well as the guests. I love seeing people talk about their talents and appreciating the talents of others.
Matthew Jund why not start reading? Just pick something up that schnepp recommends and start getting into comics! You can always stop if you don't like it and if you do like it you can become a sweaty! One of us! One of us!
You should dude! DC and Marvel both have tons of standalone stories that don't necessarily connect to the universe, so you don't have to feel overwhelmed and just read a single story. Plus, there's tons of other great stories from different publishers. I always tell anyone who is a fan of stories that they're doing a huge disservice to themselves by not reading comics.
If you're not into the whole conventional Marvel/DC superhero thing, try anything by Valiant, Image, BOOM! Studios, Aftershock, IDW, DYNAMITE, and Dark Horse! They publish both superhero and non-superhero titles, so there's a comic book for everyone!
I don't know how you guys keep doing it week after week! If I'm being really honest, when I saw who the guest was this week, I thought "I'm sure it will be fine but I wonder who will be on there next week?" Man, was I wrong! Michael Giacchino is freaking awesome! How many people can say that they're living their dream.
Well I just got done crying after a girl was pranking me and said she liked me but this makes me feel better. RIP John the comic god we wish you were still here bud
It's amazing that he only had a month to compose his Rogue One score. It's really unique and stands out as one of the most intriguing Star Wars soundtracks.
This is probably the most well-made show on Collider and it has a lot of potential, so this is why I'm going to allow myself to do this small criticism, this episode felt more like an interview for the first part since the comic book picking started more than midway through (6:40), I don't know if it's because of how the conversation went down, or editing choices but it's just my 2 cents, the best part is definitely the comic book shopping and it's awesome that you are able to get those guests.
Michael is awesome. I absolutely love most of his scores and those I don't love I really like, especially his score for War for the Planet of the Apes was amazing. CBS is such an entertaining show.
His score for the Incredibles was practically a character. It fit and sounded so well with the Superhero theme for the movie. And loved his score for Spiderman: Homecoming, Doctor Strange and especially War for the Planet of the Apes. Saw aspects from Dawn, the original Planet of the Apes and even a little X-Men Days of Future past (which I know he did not compose, but still reminded me of it)
I love to see these huge players in movies actors, directors, composers, etc open up and show that they love the Comic medium. This is awesome, Keep up the great work Schnepp
Idc what anyone says, his score for War for the planet of the apes has to be nominated for an oscar - it's timeless and adds soo much gravitas to the film.
Love this, but I do wish we saw a little more of the conversation and comic buying. We only actually got about a third of what MG bought. I understand that production costs and time on this are limited, but surely most of this was just edited out? Anyway, great, as always...can't wait to see more.
My favorite of his is Star Trek (2009), a film that I saw in theaters an absurd number of times. The scene where the tiny Vulcan ship is heading straight towards the Narada always gives me chills. Vulcan ship: Incoming missiles. If the ship is hit, the red matter will be ignited. Spock: Understood (Narada firing at the ship, a grand operatic song plays in the background) Romulan crewmember: Captain, we've picked up another ship! (Enterprise drops out of warp, firing indiscriminately at the jellyfish, to a strong and triumphant sound)
Think this my fave episode so far. I actually got my first comic book the other day because of this series. I'd love it to be longer, any chance of getting extended cuts of these?
J Warburton You should try Daredevil Vol. 3 by Mark Waid and Chris Samnee. It's a more lighthearted take on Daredevil and I recommend reading it after the most serious and depressing stories, because it's a great story about Murdock overcoming his depression. Sorry if I was overwhelming! If you want more recommendations I'll be happy to give you some :D
This is prob my favorite episode of Comic Book shopping not the Frank Miller episode. I thought this series would be lame but I was wrong, cool to see successful comic people talk about things they love. Love the checkout at the end too.
I wonder if Michael is satisfied with his work on "Rogue One." He should get another opportunity to score a _Star Wars_ film if he wants, since he was given such a short amount of time to do this one.
Honestly, people don't talk about the score to Incredibles enough. I think the score is a HUGE reason why that movie is so good and fun. This man is a legend. P.S. glad to see Schnepp pronounce his name correctly
I'm always surprised by the awesome guests you guys get
Update…this man created one of the best soundtrack of all time imo with The Batman
Update... This man directed a comicbook movie and it is amazing
he did that back in 2004 with the first Incredibles
One of the best composers period.... Batman is meh
Wait, what. Incredibles was the first Film music he has ever written. That's insane. This is one of the best scores ever made (in my opinion)

John Schnepp+Dennis Tzeng=Awesome. You guys are doing a great job with this show. Shout out to Dennis for a great job directing!!

This episode of comic book shopping with Michael Giacchino was one of my favorite episodes. He has a eclectic taste. I love his scores.
Michael's score to the Incredibles is one of my all-time favorite movie scores. The music to the scene where Dash runs on water just blows me away every time.

This might be one of my favorite episodes. Giacchino is a great guest and I love his work. His Up score is my favorite.
Amazing show. Micheal is just one of us! 👌🏻
This show is just awesome!
I have never read a single comic book. But i watch this show every week just for the guests. So epic
Matthew Jund Me too!

This is my favorite weekly series. Would love if you held a contest so Schnepp can take a fan for an episode.
LOVE his score for Rogue One! 😍
I shouldn't really keep on saying this but favourite episode so far. I love Michael Giacchino and his enthusiasm is so contagious.
Michael Giacchino's LOST score will always be one of the most beautifully haunting scores in any medium.
That's all I wanted to say! :)
I don't know how you guys keep doing it week after week! Didn't know Giacchino was a sweaty. Loved the blooper at the end. Another great episode, please keep them coming.
I worship Michael Giacchino. Amazing that you got to hang out with him!
He is one of my top five favorite composers of all time. So happy to see him on here!
This show is amazing !! Thanks for All the sweat Jon

Amazing episode, as usual. Schnepp continues to spoil us with great guests.
What a cool guy! Michael is so cool to talk to and listen to about his work, if only I new a composer as skilled as him!
He's one of favorite composers. I first took notice of him because of LOST. He had amazing themes for many of the characters.
This is great. Best series on YT and Collider. Please makes them longer.
god i love his music. best composers today.
Michael Giacchino is legit the movie composer for Geeks.
His score for the Incredibles was practically a character. It fit and sounded so well with the Superhero theme for the movie. And loved his score for Spiderman: Homecoming, Doctor Strange and especially War for the Planet of the Apes. Saw aspects from Dawn, the original Planet of the Apes and even a little X-Men Days of Future past (which I know he did not compose, but still reminded me of it)
Sal Scalici the one for Homecoming was terrible and forgettable.
The spider-man homecoming is one of the best scores ever. Legend
2 of My Favorite Things, Thanks Collider. RIP Tha God.
I love to see these huge players in movies actors, directors, composers, etc open up and show that they love the Comic medium. This is awesome, Keep up the great work Schnepp
Legendary composer. And a great guy
These things need to be atleast 15 minutes guys we didn't even see him pick out half those books! Great show regardless, keep up the great work!
My favourite guest so far. Not that the others were bad, I just liked Michael better.
Far from home OST is just perfect.
Then No Way Home is beyond perfect.
that explains why they hired him to do the Jurassic world soundtrack
Giacchino seems like such a cool dude, wonderful episode here!
The film may have mixed reviews...but his score for Tomorrowland is nothing but brilliant!!! I can listen to it everyday!
The one time the person who gets recommended comics recommends a comic
Another fantastic episode, Loving these guests your having on.
This episode with Michael giachino was awesome , I am super impressed with the guests collider has been getting on comic book shopping .
Idc what anyone says, his score for War for the planet of the apes has to be nominated for an oscar - it's timeless and adds soo much gravitas to the film.
Michael Giacchino is a proper sweatty. A god damn Shakespeare vinyl bust bank! Hahaha
He seems like such a sympathetic guy too. What a guest.
I love this guy now ! thx for inviting him !
schnepp keeps bringing the magic. another great episode!!!
This was a great episode. Can't wait to hear what Michael does in the near future.
Love that this show is getting more and more views with each episode
Doctor Strange has one of the best scores ever, no question.
Absolutely!
This series rules! Love it!
This is a wonderful episode
Giaccino is a legend man. He's approaching all-timer status.
WHAT?! No way! Michael Giacchino!
Love this, but I do wish we saw a little more of the conversation and comic buying.

I don't know how they keep getting these awesome guests.
Best episode ever! Love his Spider-Man Homecoming, UP and Lost music!
This was really interesting! Every one of these episodes I love :)
Great episode! Michael's score for the original Medal of Honor PS1 game is just amazing, up there with any of his movie scores.
I love this series. So many great comic book recommendations. That's life goals, being able to drop $200 on a stack of comics 😁
MAN i loves this show. We need to eventually try and get james gunn man
That episode better be like 20 minutes. Honestly, not even edited. Gunn is a next level kind of nerd lol
This was awesome , so sweattttty!
Michael is an awesome composer!
You keep getting these amazing guests! Scott Snyder would be an amazing guest!
Another great episode!
I like that he just nonchalantly drops over seven hundred dollars in a comic book store in one spree.
Michael's a true sweaty! That Shakespeare bust is awesome!
WHO IS BOOKING THESE GUESTS.
THESE ARE TOO SHORT.
Loved this man music since Lost. Incredible stuff
Think this my fave episode so far. I actually got my first comic book the other day because of this series. I'd love it to be longer, any chance of getting extended cuts of these?
What was your first book?
Afonso Lucas daredevil. I just finished the defenders on Netflix so just thought I'd try it out
J Warburton You should try Daredevil Vol.
Afonso Lucas cool I'll try it out. I got vol 1 by frank miller and klaus janson which I'm enjoying so far
This is easily my favourite Collider show atm!!!
Mine too.
such a great show, hope this doesn't get canceled anytime soon
I couldnt imagine before that one of great film composer working today dresses just like Dan Murell from Screen Junkies. And what a sweaty he is !
This is prob my favorite episode of Comic Book shopping not the Frank Miller episode. I thought this series would be lame but I was wrong, cool to see successful comic people talk about things they love. Love the checkout at the end too.

George Hamilton Even with that, I absolutely loved the Rogue One soundtrack
I'm a little in love with this particular stack of books. Anytime you talk about The New Frontier, for example, I'm gonna get wistful.
I'd love to see a behind the scenes where Schnepp forces all of his guests to actually purchase the $100's in comics. This show is fantastic!
What rad dude!! Good to know a Sweaty is getting to work on projects that deserve a true nerd's vibe. Awesome episode!!
I love when you do comic book shopping
Fantastic show, boys!
I need more of this!!!!!!!
I imagine whoever puts the music to these videos musta been nervous for this one considering you've got Michael Giacchin on.
Good variety in the pick-ups!
Woooow he did the DR STRANGE score??? I listen to it alm the time. So awesome
This was amazing, please try to get Michael on Movie Talk or the Schmoes Know show soon!
Love Inside Out's main theme!
He seems like such a great guy. He brought great energy here! Great episode
Comic just arrived (Saga Vol. 5) and now a new episode from Sweaty-King.
Just the Best !
Honestly, people don't talk about the score to Incredibles enough. I think the score is a HUGE reason why that movie is so good and fun. This man is a legend.
P.S. glad to see Schnepp pronounce his name correctly
Another great episode
Thank you for the music to Tai’Fu: Wrath of the tiger!!! This was the first time I got into your work, loving fan since 99
