    I have been using Astropad products that Adam recommended and I can say I love the ones I have now used. I have the darkboard for my ipad pro, the stand, and the magnetic screen cover. These products have made a world of positive difference in my digital drawing. When Adam introduces products, I listen because I trust and admire his work. I just now ordered the RPP and the magnetic screen protector for my Apple ipad mini (6th), and I look forward to trying out the apple pencil tips. I listen closely to Adam, sometimes when I just need to feel better. He even helped me with my orthopedic problems that are similar to his. Astropad, if you are listening, give Adam a big raise because he is the real deal!

    Hey fellow artists. :)
    I don't believe that Adam mentioned this, but keep in mind that this screen protector may not work with all cases. According to a newsletter email that Astropad sent out after the initial release, the screen protector is compatible with cases. However, over the last three weeks of using the screen protector daily, I've noticed that the edges of the screen protector are fraying/delaminating. This is caused by friction between the iPad case and the edges of the screen protector.
    Just something for thought. Happy painting!

      It doesn't seem like the screen protector is a permanent thing. You usually have to like buy two or three of them a year

    Nice review. Seems like the quality of the screen protector is superior to what you find in chinese online sellers.
    I find it crazy that you guys buy and use ipads and macbooks without cases. It was the first thing I tried to get after I bought my m1 pro and my ipad pro. 😅

    Would you mind seeing how the line quality is in a drawing app, like Procreate? The problem I’ve had with metal tips on a matte screen is straight, thin, lines end up becoming very wobbly. This is most noticeable on diagonal lines. I’m wondering if they were able to work around that somehow. Thank you!

    How does this affect the tilt functionality? I draw and paint with a lot of chalky brushes so being able to switch from up-right to create precise lines and tilted for wide sweeping strokes is pretty important to my workflow. My main concerns are if it impacts the tilt detection/functionality in anyway and if the edge just before the ball-point tip scratches the screen protector at all when tilted.

    • @AdamDuffArt
      @AdamDuffArt  11 місяців тому

      I don’t use tilt much myself but being a nib REPLACEMENT rather than an add on piece, it should have zero impact on tilt

    I just ordered a iPad Pro with an Apple pencil. No small part due to your inspirational videos. I'm going to try out the pen tip and pen grip. But since I didn't get the nano glass version of the iPad. Do you recommend going with the magnetic screen protector or the paperlike more traditional screen protector? Is it just a matter of preference in feel or is there an actual advantage for one over the other? Which one would you use?
    If I'm going for the magnetic removable screen protector then I'd probably get a tempered glass screen protector for protection. But if I go for the paperlike then I'd just use the paper like without any other screen protector.

    Do you still use this? Have you tried the 2nd version of this? Have you noticed the accuracy when using tilt is not as good?
    I like using a thin tip, and so I was trying out the 2nd version of this pen. I loved how thin it was, but it slightly extends the tip length... which messes with the accuracy if you use any bit of tilt.

    It looks like a pen tip, now... That I like, as someone (for the social media masses stats) so old that learned to draw only with raw pencils and pens (no internet, no real digital apps for painting....unless pixel art (yay, Deluxe Paint II) rough software and a mouse could be called that....:D )...

    curious how much friction it provides versus the paperlike. id like something with even more friction than paperlike, the friction on wacom tablets is incredibly satisfying.
    also a bit worried about it shifting around with use, as seen at 12:22 it managed to shift when adam was writing

    I saw another review on this and they were saying that when you have the screen protector on you have to press way harder with apple pencil when you're painting. Not when you're doing line art with the pencil tool, but when you're using the tilt and painting. Did you find that you have to press harder when your digital painting?

    I've always believed in this wonderful tools these people from astropad had to offer since the very beginning, and bought that Astropad Standard version to work with my ipad and desktop mac. And now that I'm trying to reinstall all the apps from a wipeout from my ipad, I'm finding out that is no longer available. And they will charge me with a sub model, when I've already paid for another kind of product from them. What's going on? Do you think this is ethical from them, Adam?

    I just received the Rock Paper Pencil today (purchased from their website a couple weeks ago) and have to say it is absolutely horrible. There is a LOT of space between the protector and the screen, unlike those that stick directly to the screen. Plus, the protector gets dirty really easy and attracts little hairs to it (and under it between it and the iPad screen). I also didn’t like how much texture it had. Seemed like too much texture to me. I initiated a return today, the same day I got it. Was hoping it would be better than other paper-ish protectors I tried, but it wasn’t. I guess I just like drawing right on the screen.

      @@williammclean6594 Fit is the wrong word to use. The sheet fits fine. It's the thickness and space between the sheet and the screen that is not good, among the other things I mentioned. It might be just a "me thing" not liking screen protectors, but the attraction of dust to it was bad, as well.

    • @williammclean6594
      @williammclean6594 9 місяців тому

      @@timz9862 Oh yeah from what I heard there is no gap so maybe you just notice more. But from what I heard, these screen protectors are not permanent. They'll wear down and you'll have to buy like two or three of them in a year. So maybe yours was defective. I guess if they were more permanent I would want to get one instead of making screen protectors apple should just make their glass etched glass.
      I was reading another review that when you have this screen protector on you can't paint very well because you have to press harder for the paint to come out because the screen protector is too thick. Did you have that problem?

    Hi Adam. Thank you for your thoughts. I have a theme for your future video. Why does art bring suffering to the artist ? Both the one who studies and the one who already owns the skill suffers . All people on the planet understand that art is beautiful , it gives pleasure to the viewer in its finished and unfinished form, in its perfection and in its ugliness . Everyone wants to be able to create. Everyone wants to be creators. Based on this understanding , the creation process should not bring suffering . But all artists go through creative torments. Why. Everyone knows that you can learn to draw. Everyone knows that there is no exact definition of art and it can be different . A red blob on a white canvas is also art. And it's simple, and no one will judge, everyone will like it. But the artist suffers. Why?
