I agree that Brown did not use enough deception in slowing down but I feel like the primary reason that he doesn't score is that he never changes the angle on the shot (like you mentioned) and also the fact that he shoots it right at the goalie's chest.
Yes but those options aren’t easy things to pull off and are in convenient on a breakaway. McDavid’s options are convenient and more easy to pull off on a breakaway or at any time.
