This HIDDEN Jet is the Cause of Your Engine Hunting or Surging... Lawn Mower/Honda Carburetor FIX
Вставка
- Опубліковано 23 чер 2020
- Does your engine hunt or surge at part throttle or run rough? It may be caused by this little jet being plugged in the top of the carburetor body! This is for Honda type carbs or the chinese knockoffs or LCT type carbs which may be similar.

Hope You Can All Learn from the Video about these carbs!
@Maddog worker sometimes it does but goes away, were all the intake gaskets good?
i NEED HELP!! i have one of those similar carbs but its on a snow blower i have removed and cleaned the entire carb twice including both main and idle jet are completely clear. i cleaned and gapped the spark plug, changed out all the seals and confirmed that the plastic spacer is not cracked. But im getting hard start when cold and unless put on choke the motor stalls instantly just by engaging the auger (with out snow). no surging or hunting, runs smooth engine previously sat for 2 years
@@abuvibes8950 screen behind fuel inlet to carb, i think its removable on newer ones with a 90 degree elbow. not for sure, but maybe. if you have any intake leaks it will run on choke only too. make sure to passages all clean on air intake side of carb.
@@bearkreekboys UPDATE: after putting new seals and a carb on but still with no luck, it was seafoam to the rescue. aparently the only thing stopping it was carbon build up.
Hi. I just wanted to thank you so much for this video. I had stripped, cleaned and rebuilt my lawnmower carb but the engine was still surging! Then, I found you, problem solved. Thanks again. G Steele, Leicestershire, UK.
The chickens clucking in the background are priceless. Cheering section? Great video. Thanks.
😊 Thank you so much. I was fully expecting to remove and strip down and clean the carburettor to get it working again. Not so! Your fix works a treat and first time. I didn't even need to remove the carburettor to apply the fix! My mower is now running better than it has in the past two years. Thank you!
My powermore 173cc Troy Bilt CSV060 chipper shredder vacuum wouldn’t run unless full choke was on. Found the pilot jet rock solid clogged thanks to this video. Thanks a heap brother 🤙
Thank you MMO, I am a retired mechanic, London U/K. I stripped my carb down (Same unit as yours exactly) and cleaned and rebuilt, it did not cure the hunting/surging, Than I saw your video and I had totally missed this jet on the outside because its hidden under the air bleed throttle screw, Thanks Im greatful . Mike Heath .
Thanks. My washer worked fine for 5 years. Then stopped working on a job. Drained the gas tank, cleaned the carb, but forgot the pilot jet. It cranked and surged at idle. Did your trick and runs like a champ. Beats messing with idle screws.
Glad it worked!
Thank you for this, you saved me a lot of head scratching with a Honda engine 👍
Thank for the information my mower is hard to start never knew it was there always learning something new take care my friend
Very nice video presentation. Direct straight-to-the-point no riffraff all-business I like the style you are representing you have a new subscriber
Yup I dislike these carbs I think but thanks for the info just made me at least 50 bucks. This one was shooting sparks out the exhaust it was running so rich
Thanks for the tip. I have a different type of carburetor but the error was the same. Dirty nozzle.🙂
Thank you so much, this cured the hunting on my generator.
Worked like a charm for me! Thanks
Thanks, I will try this fix. My 2003 CubCadet Big country with a GX690 engine is having some surging issues.
Nice vid. Will use to advantage
Thank you this helped a lot
Hi Bear, Your video worked a treat. I had the hunting, stalling occasionally etc etc ... Honda GX270 / 37 North Star splitter here in the UK [ a rare machine here ] .... anyway your cleaning method works perfectly and it is now running smoothly THANK YOU [I have thums up and subscribed]
Man I'm so glad to hear u got it going good! Thanks for the positive reply!!
Thank you, I'm going to try this on my generator
Buddy u r a lifesaver
Thanks very much for your video it worked a treat this mower is running as sweet as a nut thanks and all the best
Glad you got it running better
It was very educational I’ve been fixing mowers for years and never been able to sort the surging problem apart from a new carb thanks very much
Thanks mister!
Good, thank you!
Thank-you, saved me a lot of grief.
I been working on small engines for a year and a half and was wondering what was causing that 👍👍
Kinda funny I was watching to see if pilot jet takes 2 or 3 o rings, you said it probably has 2 or 3 o rings. The rebuild kit came with 3 o rings, but there was only one deteriorated o ring when I disassembled it, so I only replaced one o ring and didn’t run bad but not perfect, so now I’ll install 2nd o ring and see how that works. Thanks
If anyone knows more on this please reply
This is great info. There's alot of Chinese bikes are out there and hardly any info. Here in Commiefornia our ethanol content is 12% out of the pump and literally goes bad in 30 days in a vented system.
It worked, thank you!
you can also use the first string of guitar strings ...
Not gonna lie bro I miss the DBX1 that you had lol 😂 😞
Or a bread tie
Hi Bear; I have a honda gcv 190 when it idles down i get the surging and governor rod rocky back and forth. I installed a new carb could it have come dirty? thanks
Have seen new carbs with the pilot jet plugged out of the box so it is definitely not out of the question I would definitely check it and then you could always do a static governor adjustment after if it doesn't fix it
What would cause the jet to pop out?
i wonder if a pipe cleaner would help here instead of the wire brush. Thanks for the tips!
Too Thick
Do you know what the replacement O-rings are on that piece, or what to search to find them? Thanks!
If you look up the carb diagram for the model of engine you have it will probably come with the jet itself
my lower o ring seal is torn off, so I just remove that. but then the generator engine runs rough and the exhaust smells bad. is it caused by that missing o ring?
Definitely can cause it to run goofy yes
Hey man just wondering if you could help me take my carb apart 😅
What ya got
What happens if the pilot jet is over sized by almost double?
Itll probably run but may run rich and smoke black smoke. Have to see how it runs
Should I clean out the top too?I’ve cleaned out the small end (pilot jet)
Top is pilot jet. Bottom is main jrt
So, do I clean it?
@@bearkreekboys not that the name matters. In fact I have a bigger problem now, I decided to adjust the throttle bolt. Instead I broke the top off the bolt. Not a good day. The bolt is too stuck to take out with pliers. Tried to drill it, it’s too hard.
Is that the idle screw ?
No. It's a port jet air inlet
Ayoooo
Kinda kinda kinda kinda
Use brake cleaner, carb cleaner is harsh.
Do u know what’s actually in brake cleaner????
@josephdignam123 yeah I do. I buy brake and carb cleaner in 5 gallon cans, lol.
Goofy 🤪 jobs
