  • Before joining forces, the duo behind Sgt. Splendor were already formidable solo artists, with Kate Vargas receiving acclaim from NPR and Rolling Stone, and Eric McFadden playing guitar for George Clinton & the P-Funk All Stars and Eric Burdon & The Animals. Sgt. Splendor’s second release, “Death of the Hoochie Koo,” dropped on May 19th on Buena Vista West Records. "Tom Waits’ music has always been a point of connection for me & Kate. Our Southwestern upbringing comes through-that sort of mysterioso desert thing-but also a carnivalesque Waits-ian vibe," says McFadden. Among the players who have accompanied Sgt. Splendor are Dave Schools (Widespread Panic) and Jerry Harrison (Talking Heads).
Sgt. Splendor recently hit the stage at the legendary Bitter End venue in New York City. Prior to the show, Sgt. Splendor and Chris caught up for a new episode of The Groove Within!
