Thank you for the top tip on the pots, I think that's where I went wrong on one of my 1507 but I had it on a very low current limited supply so no damage done. Keep up the great work on the videos. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
Excellent, you know very well how an amplifier works. I have the same Hakko 808 desoldering gun. I been fixing High End audio for many years, I am in electronics for more than 42 years and I can tell you, are a Master. Hope un that days start making vídeos of my works. I work fixing many Audio Research equipment. Thanks for share. Cheers .
This vid jogged my memory of the detailed repairs, so I could easily follow the abbreviated format. It was better for me because you got to the point without repeating.
Kevin i gotta say your the real deal !! I cant wait til you post a new video its always so informative and explained A++++ keep up the good work. thanks
great intro. worth a second look at these hayday alpine amps after viewing this video. own a alpine eq with the BBE function (reason why searched out). though dont know how going to integrate this old four channel (front and back left and right) into a modern pioneer h.u. gotta lot of other great youtubes to watch. wish to finish another time due to how interesting understanding amp guts are when purchasing and comparing new amps.
You can separate the audio section from the power supply by removing the bridge rectifier section (right after the secondary windings, you'll find the dual diode rectifiers). They are usually right next to the mosfets of the power supply, on this amp you can see them screwed directly to the sink next to the mosfets that are clamped down.
Thanks for doing these videos, I really appreciate seeing them. Would you prefer using this amp as a full-range amp for components, or as a subwoofer amp? Components are Boston Acoustics 6.53 pro or 6.5 pro which are 3 ohm nominal (depending on what fits). Thanks again.
Grat video im learning a lot from you keep them video's coming! I have a question if an amplifier has 8 output Mosfets and it has 2 extra empty spots for 2 more that was not installed from factory what will happen if I install them would the amplifier perform better ??
hello there well here is the big question, i have a orion 5000 for long time that needs repair I take it down to mexico city since there is a big tree full of repairing shops well they take a year and never fixed I guess they do not work on it really they told me that a part need it to be order fro usb well I ask what part and went on my own to find it no one carry the part I come back to california and well the part was easy to get and well I pick my amplifier and I really want a expert to fix it can I know you number I would like to send you my amplifier to get repair seems like you really know about amplifiers
How do the toroids work on an amp do they step the voltage all the up to rail voltage from 12v ac am guessing the fets alternate the the 12v dc and one side it stepped up through the toroidal transfomers to rail voltage plus and minus maybe plus one side minus on the other? am I close? or does each side do plus and minus to each side of the amplifier stage.
I see you're using the Sigelei 213 with a Kanger Subtank mini (with the RBA?). I vape as well. It's been about 4 years since i quit analogs. For me, vaping has turned into more than a life saving decision. It has also been a great avenue of incorporating my electronics knowledge into my own self-built mods and improving upon retail devices. Since i'm into board level repair, as well, i enjoy building mods for myself and friends. Do you ever tinker with building mods or vaping boards.........Evolv DNA.........Yihi? Or is vaping just a way to quit smoking for you and that's it? I'm sure you already know this but i wouldn't vape around all that test equipment. I've already had to take apart my laptop and give the logic board a 99% iso alcohol bath. It wouldn't turn on one day because it had a nasty film of VG/PG from vaping, over the board components (me being a dummy and blowing my vape right at the laptop while using it). Great repair BTW!
In my previous video I explain that I cannot take on repairs that I cannot get service manual schematics for. It cost a lot of money for you to ship back and fourth and is also costly for me in time I waste if I can't figure out parts that may be burnt beyond recognition or if there is a fault that is not easy to find without the service information. One can spend hours or even days on fixing an amp without any service information. I don't have that kind of time to be guessing for hours or days ya know? Sometimes its easy but you don't know till it's in front of you and deeply into it. Sorry
Kev31779 I have +- 15v and at the led board connector I have ground on the gray wire and a couple of pins at 8v so all of the led's are blown or am I missing something? Thank you for the reply and for teaching me so much about electronics.
Could be a bad ground, that amp cooks ground traces on the back side of the board near the power input. Also check that there is continuity between pin 1 of led ribbon cable and the power supply gnd. Other than that you will need to start probing ic's like ic702 and ic703. Also the surrounding transistors. Ic 702 is problematic but not likely to cause all the leds not to work but not impossible.
Kev31779 the amp works fine and all of the traces look good. The ribbon cable tests fine but if I connect 8.1v to the back of either + tab for the led and ground the center pin on any of the 3 bulbs nothing happens. Does that mean they are dead?
Kevin i gotta say your the real deal !! I cant wait til you post a new video its always so informative and explained A++++ keep up the good work. thanks
Great troubleshoot as like me newbie in electronics
Amazing patience and concentration. Most people get pissed off and throw their hands up. Great repair video Sir!

Your videos are superb. I feel like I am getting a college level course for free. Thank you for your videos.

Awesome Kev, I have learned a lot over your many videos. Thank You.

It Great to get a Video from you so soon from the last Video. Great Work and its always a pleasure to watch them. Thanks for the Video.
This video made my night! Thanks Kevin.
Very Nice Work Kevin.
Nice repair mate big thumbs up my friend 👍

I have an Audiobahn amp that is having a problem. Do you do repairs? I can’t find anyone that will touch it. Thanks
Nice vid. Keep the amp repairs coming, i really enjoy them!
I have problems with music light flashing red but amp works in stereo and mono any advise?
I really like your channel👍🏻
I have an amp just like this that I need fixed. How can I contact u to talk about it more?
Thanks for the Video....as always ;)
This was a good video! Nice work
I need help

Sub'ed....Excellent videos, thanks! Is there a good source for service manuals/schematics for car audio amps?
Are you still fixing amp I have the same exact one that I need fixed
What freq do you send thru it to test it from the signal generator..??? like 1khz or just random anything..
+Kennynva T. 1khz is typical.
You mean the bottom of my amp ISN'T a napkin holder? I guess I am doing it wrong... :D

PLEASE just let me send my amp to you for repair.. dear god please... you can make a video about it?
what type of solder did you use to repair the board can you put a link
I've had it for years and the label is worn off. I wish i could tell you. Its nothing special. I'm pretty sure it's a 60/40 rosin core based solder.
Can you prove the links on where i can get genuine parts?
These are the top 3 places I use.www.digikey.com/
www.mouser.com/
www.newark.com/
So where do i need to ship my soundstream reference 700sx to for u to repair it sir?
In my previous video I explain that I cannot take on repairs that I cannot get service manual schematics for. O sorry I didn't get a notification that u responded already so sorry for the bother
Can you fix my alpine1507
My 1507 draws 1.6 amps at idle and none of the lights come on. Any ideas why this could be? I don't have a thermal camera yet.
+Internationalf250 could be fine and the ledriver chip may ne bad.. unlikely but possible. Also check the +-15 volt supply in the amp sectio

Does the amp work other than the led's?
