Your trip was worthwhile. It is very interesting that the cars are already broken into when they leave the terminal. No one checks, no one bothers to even re-lock them. It must always be open season on rail cars. Why can't they put a lock on that can't be cut? One that would require an oxy- acetylene torch to cut it. How about security guards and cameras?

Not really, only in states where the police turn a blind eye, over in the South the police and rail road cops don't turn a blind eye, nor does the court system.
Those could've been opened anyplace east of there. Probably on sections where the train is stopped in yards, or waiting for a crew change in a lonely mountain pass like Banning. Looks like the train got moving before anything could be pulled out, or the thieves didn't see anything they wanted. When I worked on a train crew, they told us strictly to leave any hoboes or thieves alone and just call the RR police.

My grandfather was a lifelong railroad employee, so the love of trains is in my blood! And I can honestly say that I really CAN sleep through a freight train! 😘✌️
The solution seems to be right there, which @German In Venice captured. The containers need additional locks/barriers that block them shut while it's loaded on the train. This may slow down the processing of the goods, but so be it, the goods must be protected so they can be delivered. Disrupting supply lines is just insanity right now.

Folks in my new city think I'm crazy to move to Indiana but they have no clue what L.A. is like. They don't believe me or the news.
They need to hire security patrol along the whole route and clean up the crap made by crappy sub humans.
i was HOMELESS for the longest time! i love those freight trains! what an AMAZING job!..... i'm too old now, but i'd love to volunteer and CLEAN UP THOSE TRACKS! make cardboard piles for recyclers to haul away!
Budajudge is also asleep with Joe
They need some Railroad bulls out there! With shotguns..
It doesn't always have to be someone else needs to fix this. Just stop buying crap from China and spend your money on local stores . Your economy will benefit the environment will benefit and so will the people that don't have jobs
I always give you a thumbs up. Hey look--224,000 subscribers!! On your way to a half million!! Yay German in Venice!!
Michael in Oregon
Your coverage is top notch no matter what time. I wouldn’t recommend hanging around Lincoln Heights at 1 am. Especially with a nice phone.
He said I'm not going to give away the location so you do
I love your side by side snap shots of old places and new, especially with iconic film or music scenes! 🤙🏼
Thanks for your hard work German! Your perspective is always informative yet positive every time! Much love to you ❤️.
Dear German. I am very close to getting my Concealed weapons carry licence in Los Angeles. (Not an easy process). If you need someone who knows this city well (34 years I lived here) I would be happy to be your armed escort. I would highly suggest you don't go places like this at night right now. It's way too dangerous.
That's fucken hilarious only in America, as we say in Australia.
@@jamied8678 the famous Boxing Promoter Don King would say that all the time.
I love how you show us what is really going on, and how these crimes are committed!
Thanks Mike for taking us along. It's true the amount of trash is terrible. I enjoyed the train & views.
What a mess! Trained for Greyhound the early 80’s from the downtown terminal. Lived downtown for two months during the training. Glad I don’t have to travel 7th street anymore since the change! Love your channel ❤️
love the messenger......we wouldnt have the content without you........everywhere is a good neighbourhood in daylight :-)......ty GiV !
Love your vids!! L.A. not gonna make it bro.....GET OUT!!
Thanks for the update! MSM doesn't want us to know about this stuff.
The Rail Road Police (Special Agents working for the Rail Company) do nothing. They ticket truckers coming in an out of the yards, but avoid confronting any looters.
What a disgusting site. People that have no shame. No self esteem, no pride.
This is probably not the last time we are going to see this type of event.
This is shit hole LA, there will always be events like this going on, all thanks to the city council and Da Mayor.
Happen in Chicago too. A bunch of people were taking tvs out of containers
Well the culprits aren't going anywhere.
Well Santa comes once a year so.....
@@metalmike570 ..... you gotta loot as much as you can the other 364 days, you know, for the balance sake.
But if Santa would come 365 times a year.....
A 40' container full of mops, brooms and cleaning supplies went untouched.
Thanks so much for these updates and your videos. It is really a shame, this is America, the world will see this and also question what has happened to this place. That mess did not happen overnight, I don't blame the rail workers for it but I do blame the cities leadership, the indifference of the highly paid people in charge who are busy now trying to blame others for their failures and I blame the über liberal criminal justice system that is failing their mission. How do they feel this will affect the morale of Americans that go to work earn their money and realize how broken things are?
No wonder the mainstream media was not reporting on this until people like GIV started posting, same with the homelessness mess, media is out to lunch.
The railroad right of way is the responsibility of the railroad companies to patrol and secure, not the city’s.
The rich people in Beverly Hills couldn't care less. The Hollywood people are more concerned about global warming than their own city.
That area looks like South Africa. What a shame. Local government has failed. Hopefully the leadership is sufficiently embarrassed to fix the problems if they can. Thanks for shining a spotlight on this and stay safe.
Bless your heart! Thanks for the videos! I wish our national news channels would show this mess!
Looking at LA nowadays I'm convinced hell has been relocated.
Nah. Not exactly. If ya wanna see where hell relocated to it's been by far the entire toilet bowl of the planet better known by some as Afghanistan lol. This mess here in LA is nothing in comparison to the fresh turn of the middle east, Afghanistan. Forever America's annoying long nose hair. Lol carry on.

Days after your first video of this topic has reached this incidents the middle european press since yesterday. You are a trendsetter, Mike!
Good Work GIV. You mix ironic humor in with the Garbage. Also, you are THE investigative reporter of 2022. Show the Big Boys (CNN. FOX, et al) how it should be done in FaveLA-ville, SFCA, Seattle, and parts East. We owe you and the Nick Johnson channel gratitude.
A bunch of Betty White' newspapers on the railroad on her birthday shot is such a historical and really good documentary news good job GIV !
You were the one to break this story.. Where were all the news a few days ago when the train was there... GIV was there tho
I know that's what I want to know, GIV had the derailed train a day before LA news, I was in Pasadena the weekend and had LA news that's how I know.
“You got mail!
But it is on the side of a railroad track. Pick it up yourself.”
I love choo-choo trains, too! I love hearing the clickity-clack of the train, and the mournful whistle late at night...
I sent your first video to everyone, and it was fascinating to see. I love your follow up, here, too, Mike!
God bless you, and us all!
You’re insane.
A Deutschlander in Venice. A train aficionado and very affable fellow. Stay safe my friend not all individuals are law abiding and respectful unfortunately.
If all were as we no need for locks or bars but sadly not the case.
Los Angles basin blessed with such beautiful weather no weeks on end of below zero winds and snow.
It’s crazy to see doors on some of the containers open on the train already. This has to be a country wide problem.
Not really, only in states where the police turn a blind eye, over in the South the police and rail road cops don't turn a blind eye, nor does the court system.
@@oveidasinclair982 👍
Not in SC... No liberals here... so far...
Not in Ok. either. We're a completely RED STATE where people have morals and values. You pull that crap here, you go to jail, no if's ands or but's about it. Deservedly so too.
Well aside from the obvious newsworthy scenery, I just want to say WOW what a great up close place to stand and watch a train go by! Loved that part especially. Great video!
Great jobs VIG. You saw the open containers.
Days ago, you've reported this before I saw it on the news channels.
I hope to maybe see you when I visit Venice
Thx for the footage/commentary. Hard to believe without seeing!
Funny it looks like the cleaning crews came when words spread that you had made this video.... This must have been known for weeks, maybe months, by train operators and authorities. Only a German in Venice made the difference
cleaning crews come out a few times a year, this isn't NEW
He's not the only one doing videos on this
You are much more informative than channel 5 news! I love the German accent🥰
No doubt the criminals have other locations that are easier now that this one has attracted so much attention.
Like the Alameda corridor.
My mom was a homeless methhead in LA for most of her life. I really hope she's dead already because I wouldn't want to imagine her living in such a god awful city like LA. WOW is LA trashed, what incredible destruction. That city is completely destroyed. Hellscape is how it needs to be referred to now.
you had me at beautiful los angeles california. while we're looking over the trash heap at the tracks. gold
LA has some serious issues these days! I wonder how long that mess will sit there.
I lived in Venice in 78. LA was awesome back then!
such an iconic sound the train makes....enormously powerful engine combination. What a sight!
Thanks for sharing transparency GIV!!!

Glad to see some people in the community cleaning up their city . I’m sure some locals still care about Los Angeles :)

I think the world is a better place to live because of what you do on your channel ... THANKS FOR POSTING ... love from West Virginia
The problem is Ups and Amazon will recoup their loses by charging ,little guy , customers more for shipping charges . The upper management share holders and executives will not be affected by this theft in any way whatsoever. I don't know if insurance will cover this . These freight cars should be parked near lighted areas with cameras. Why can't each freight car be equipped with an alarm ?
Because that'll cost more than the total amount they're stealing
Thanks for the great coverage. Your coverage looks to of been done with a very good camera, very clear. Keep safe.
God I just love this guys content and I'm not even an American. Mike should have millions of hits. I just love the honesty and the contrast he unbiasly provides between the glitz and glamour we are spoonfed from birth about Hollywood and California and the actual reality of what it all looks like. Even the supposed fabulous areas are hugely lacklustre and massively overstated by media and television.
Fabulous fabulous down to earth brutally honest documentation by a guy I would be honoured to call friend.
Keep doing what you do Mike. Change nothing.
Your not just making entertaining videos sir, you are collating honest and unbiased historical documentation and I have absolutely no doubts that future generations long after us will celebrate you as a marvellous historian.

Thanks for introducing LA in a realistic view. Love your background info to some of the buildings. Please do more of this kinda videos. Thumbs up bro
That's crazy that no one is checking on those containers. Like they're being left open on purpose. Makes me wonder.
I thought that too..like they want to have packages stolen.

Some people act foolish and forget their morals for a lousy dollar.
Shocking on many levels. Why was the railroad not securing the train after a derail?
Its cali. Blue state. Nothing but degens
They did have crews there. Remember the guys in the fluorescent vests? Cops were there, too.
I'm not sure much if anything was stolen from the train we saw. That's months of stuff littering the area.
@@xmortimorxmortimorx: Maybe, but it's still not just one train's worth.
Yeah because they've got little train elves with safety cones that hop out and protect the spilled milk....
What a depressing sight how people can destroy their cities and damage and destruction of property very sad. thank you for the update 🇬🇧
Man, if a few gang members and thieves can do this is a few months, imagine what can happen if all citizens of the whole city of L.A came together to STOP this and CLEANED up their home city?
The POTENTIAL is immense, but unfortunately unlikely. When good people do nothing, it makes them bad people.

The back gate of the yard of the house I grew up in opened up to the railroad tracks near Watson Junction on the border between Carson & Wilmington. It was my playground growing up! Every time I heard a train approaching, I ran to my treehouse to gesture for the conductor to blow his horn. It NEVER got old for me! My grandfather was a lifelong railroad employee, so the love of trains is in my blood! And I can honestly say that I really CAN sleep through a freight train! 😘✌️

Nice to hear no more trains stuck back to normal
No security, no problem, right?
This has been going on for too long. Thank you for getting involved something will be done now. Blessings
The solution seems to be right there, which @German In Venice captured. The containers need additional locks/barriers that block them shut while it's loaded on the train. This may slow down the processing of the goods, but so be it, the goods must be protected so they can be delivered. Disrupting supply lines is just insanity right now.
YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY RIGHT !!!
