My favourite piece of trivia from this episode: During the ‘two Listers’ scene, the person playing the guitar is Phil Manzanera of Roxy Music, who is out of shot and squatting behind Craig Charles (whose real arms are behind his back). Manzanera was just asked by the crew to improvise something cool on the spot 😎
That is awesome man thanks for sharing =]
After Brian may turned it down
I'm not a hundred percent but I think the guy they see on the video getting his brain sucked out by the psiren is the voice actor for daddy pig from Peppa pig
'Ah, smug mode' is where this show peaked for me. Absolutely brilliant.
And Mr Llewellyn has been smug ever since
I would genuinely love for Kryten to be the voice of my Siri
"I can make that lump of wood sing like a Yukon bear trapper on his annual visit to the brothel."
One of my favorite quotes from the entire show.
LOL it was a great line =]
Your reaction to Lister snogging the Psiren at 9:58 is priceless.
I love your channel, your laugh is infectious. I love that you get and appreciate British humour.
First time I saw Lister making out with a giant bug I freakin' lost it. So funny.
The novel adaption of this pointed out that it took longer to load Rimmer's neuroses than watch 'Gone with the Wind'
The novels are outstanding. I recommend any dwarf fan to read them.
@@stockbridgeworks one of the few cases I'd (also) recommend listening to them. Chris Barrie does an excellent job.
@@AlmightyCRJ Absolutely agree 100% - my favourite one is Last Human.
Out of the 4 novels where is that line from? My favourite is backwards.
@@JoshRead1 Not sure, Infinity welcomes careful drivers?
Series 6 is the best. Very good reaction Josh.
Each to their own, but I'm amazed people think that. A lot of the characterisation goes in favour of just punchline-feedline, and one of the writers left afterwards.
agreed
You monster
Thanks bud =]
@@JackRascal I personally think series 5 was better, the very best.
This was the best Red Dwarf series for sure. I love the Legion episode and Psirens.
Nah series 5 is way better
@@MichaelM28 How many times with the same comment?
Kryten was so great this episode.
Agreed =]
I got Robert Llewellyn's autograph almost 20 years ago.
When I was about 10, I was gifted 4 Red Dwarf VHS’s. Season 1 (the first three), Season 4 (the first three) and both tapes of Season 6.
This season will always be my favourite for its nostalgia although there are better episodes, I loved the look and stories of series 6.
That cliff hanger ending had me waiting for about two years. This episodes I saw on broadcast was series 7.
Welcome to THE best season! Every single epizode is masterpiece
Series 5 is the best series
@@MichaelM28 6 was 10 5 was a 10 to close to call .
Kryton on Starbug "This old baby's crashed more times than a ZX81". The Sinclair ZX81 micro first sold in 1981, for £50 in kit form or £70 ready assembled. It had a Z80A CPU, and just 1KB of RAM. Most owners added a 16KB RAM pack to the back port, but the connection was a bit iffy. A system crash would result from movement of the connection, commonly termed 'RAM pack wobble'. Clive Sinclair's suggested solution was to use Blu Tack between the ZX81 and the RAM pack.
"Lister tune into sanity FM"!
" Are you saying they were psirens"?
"Of course its as plain as a Bulgarian pin up"!
I totally forget how good series 6 was.. I think i'm gonna try to get my wife to like this show again starting here.
You're totally right about Cat.
This is the last good series.
Enjoy.
Only joking, it's all good, except that weird thing when they went to Coronation Street, oh and all of Series 8 😂
ONE OF MY FAVOURITE EPISODES LOVE IT!! MORE TO COME THO!!!!. ; )
Read the books and you'll appreciate even more. They are laugh out loud funny and you get a lot more. And now you've seen loads of them, you'll be able to picture and listen to them in ur head.
Or listen to Rimmer(Chris Barrie) read the books on here!! He does all the voices too 😂❤
Red dwarf is class I love watching it very very funny
From memory of reading the book decades ago, Cat did indeed evolve from a cat, Frankenstein, Listers pet that he smuggled onboard the Red Dwarf. It was this act that ultimately resulted in Listers placement in statis and the death of the entire crew. The cat race evolved over millions of years before destroying themselves in a war, leaving only Cat himself as sole survivor.
Oh wow lol, sounds like Cat.
If memory serves me correctly, wasn't Cat the offspring of "an idiot and a cripple" pair of cats when all the others had left ?
@@robertespley248 Haha yes that sounds correct.
Series 6 was the best season of Red Dwarf.
7:17 RIP Rimmer.
Ahh.. *smug mode~*
A really good episode and as usual, I loved your reaction!
Glad you enjoyed =]
Lister kissing the Psiren was one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen.
This was the very first episode I saw of Red Dwarf back in 1997.
Losing the Red Dwarf was unplanned, supposedly the model fell off a shelf and smashed and they had to write around it until they could build a new one.
That's more than a little innacurate.
Apparetly a Red dwarf model was broken but the idea that a whole season had to be written in the Star Bug because of it is a fallacy/BS.
A big favourite. 👌🏼
Series working title was The Starbuggers, still find it hard calling it Red Dwarf, when it doesn’t feature
Daddy pig makes an appearance at 7:00 , right???
Series 6 👍
After a year or two of being introduced to out of context quotes from this show, this was the first episode I ever watched. Funny how the opening bit is kind of written for someone who doesn't know what's going on :)
This was probably my favourite of all the Red Dwarf series, felt it went downhill after this
Why is it your favourite? Series 5 is way better
Have you seen Plebs? Kind of a mixture between The Inbetweeners & Peep Show
Awesome. But, er... don't ever cut the lovely Jenny Agutter out of a video again! 🤣 (j/k)
Or Samantha Robson
As it happens, cornflakes was practically the only thing I wouldn’t put Tabasco on. It just ruined the taste of Tabasco.
Great episode
Dude loving the swat cats tee
Josh always has awesome t-shirts. My favourite is the T1000 one
Thanks bud =]
favourite episode
please savour this series of Red Dwarf. after this one, it is severely downhill.
The Red Dwarf mothership does later return in series 8
Thanks bud.
@@AfterWorkReactions I can't tell you how it comes back. You might have to find out for yourself
Series 6 is awesome enjoy
Have you seen ‘come fly with me’? Its a uk comedy from david walliams and matt lucas set in an airport. Only one series but was very good
Who doesn't still use "smug mode?"
Ahhh smug mode
Jenny Agutter got undressed in front of Robert and she told him to keep his eyes closed. He did and Craig was disgusted that he did.
Fantastic 😂
Best series!
Season 6 is the last good one, all that come after this are terrible (though some people enjoyed the Dave channel reboot, I didn't think much to it).
This season is where the show peaks. Unfortunately you have two pretty bad seasons to come after this before the show eventually came back for some pretty good efforts on the Channel Dave.
9:55 that's so disgusting!!!🤮🤮 🤮🤮
Season 6, the last series where rob grant was still involved.. Doug naylor on his own.. not so great
👍😂😂❤
This one felt very odd when it first aired. I like it a lot more now but there's something a bit "off" with it.
That seemed a bit better than I recalled, though the wheels are coming off for S6 - so much so that Rob Grant bails after it ends. The transition from character-based comedy to punchline/feedline is a bit rough, it loses a dimension. There's also an increase in "catchphrasey" humour (particularly the "space corps directives") and similes, all stuff that would take centrestage when it became a Doug Naylor only show. Still decent, but a step down from what it was. I'm amazed so many in the comments cite S6 as one of the best, though each to their own...
Not my favourite season, but has some good bits.
Lister is always making out with babes on the show
Series VI was a bit of a letdown for me compared to the awesome shows of series III, IV and V, it had terrible canned laughter track compared to the earlier seasons, the female Holly was missing along with Red Dwarf ship so it all felt tight and squashed in starbug, Holly was that extra bit that was needed, I prefered her over the male version btw.
This is not a series I go back to that often, my favs are III, IV, V and VIII (Capt. Holyster and Ackerman cracked me up).
I was with you until you got to VIII.
@@JackRascal VIII is brill, far better than VII, I don't get why It's sh*tted on, the scenes with the Captain and Ackerman along with Baxter and his mate had me in stitches, by VII it was getting stale, there's only so much you can do with just 4 main characters all the time, VIII was a fresh feel.
Series 6 is the best
@@goldytwatus1674 Nah not for me, not by a long shot, IV was the best.
@@ZEUSDAZ it's because its too broad and the comedy has aged really badly (erection jokes, You've been framed parodies) and borders on the unpleasant with characters like Lister essentially losing the moral core that brought pathos to the early series (literally watching his ex-girlfriend shower with the inmates) and revealing that Doug Naylor has some kind of unpleasant views on women. It becomes a bad sitcom in space instead of the thoughtful funny and philosophical show it used to be. Thankfully Dave let them redeem these couple of seasons with something closer to the original.
Love you Josh but God Bless em every 5 secs is proper irritating. Bit of variety bro. Plus most in UK are atheist
What a dumb comment.
Yeah mate, he should change his way of speaking because you (and apparently all atheists wtf??) don't like it.
You know you can just not watch right? You're aware that's an option?
Harsh. Though this has become something of a tic for Josh.
Most in the UK? So you went door to door conducting a survey?
so goofy
