Never have I correctly found so many of the moves🎉. Only missed Qe7. I actually saw the b4 idea prior but couldn't figure out how to control the c7 square. I can feel myself getting better every day. I've gone from 1000 to 1150 just in the past 30 days! You're the man Nelson
Hello Nelson! Nice video on this game with a brilliant finish to it. Your Breaking 1500 course is excellent as well - been working through most of those lessons. 18:06 - how do you know that your plan is not working and need to find a new way to win (also any tips on not getting tunnel vision?) Thanks.
That Qxe7 move I saw, but I wasn't looking to necessarily trap the queen, I just noticed it was attacking a lot of pieces and you'd be able to infiltrate and win a pawn or two.
19:10 - I'm surprising myself with how many times I get the right moves since I went through your "Breaking 1500" course. Thank you again for putting it together, the impact it's having on my game is undeniable ! :)
Awesome lesson Nelson. At 13:03 you say white has won only a rook and pawn while black has a night and bishop but if white plays Qxf7+ he wins another pawn and will capture bishop at e7 next, with a threat to rook at d8. What am I missing from this analysis?
@enderyu oh ha. Yeah that makes sense. Creators do change their thumbnails and titles often, in order to see what gets clicked more. Or maybe he uses ai to get the video out sooner, and then makes his own preferred thumbnail after
It's always those obscure pawn moves that you're never looking for that are impossible to see. Every time I review my game with stockfish and I see that I had a tactic by simply moving one of my pawns when I'm trying to find out how to arrange pieces for a checkmate or win material outside of opening theory.
Definitely didn’t see Queen E8 at the end there, but I’m proud to say I saw B4 right away. (I’m 900 Elo so that’s why I said I was proud to find that lol)
Ok, I see Ng6... But Nxf7, Qxf4, Nxd8, Rxd8, what about Qxe6+.....am I missing something??? R and 2 pawns for two pieces.... Black plays Kf8 to hold the B.... Whites thoughts are c5, Bb3 and Re1 13:12
I prefer an early nc3 to nf3 because White has an easy g4 against f5 in the triangle variation. A quick Bd3 I don't like because Bxc4 in 2 tempi instead of one tempo.
Referring to the first couple of minutes of this video: if 3. c5 is not a good move in the Slav Defense, then why do the Advance variations in French (1. e4 e6 2. d4 d5 3. e5) and Caro-Kann (1. e4 c6 2. d4 d5 3. e5) enjoy a relatively good reputation? Especially French Advanced looks like a mirrored Slav Defense with 3. c5.
No you do not lose tempo.if he takes you take back and youre still ahead in development. Its just a trade and your bishop is on a good square. Its no like you can have your bishop on f1 the whole game and wait for black to play dxc4.
Just out of curiosity, at 13:00, what is wrong with this variation? As Qxe6+ wins the dark squared bishop as well regaining the piece and creating a more damaged structure of black instead of just the exchange?
In 1:07 can you play pawn e3 defending the d4 pawn and if black takes the d4 pawn you can recapture back with your e3 pawn. Some people might say the d4 pawn is a backward pawn but you can easily defend it with your knight or bishop and black can’t really put pressure on the d4 pawn and overall blacks position is cramped.

Good example of deflection, one of the most difficult tactical shots to see.
Fabulous finish & another great instructive video !!

Watching this video in my new Chess Vibes hoodie, literally the most comfortable hoodie I have ever had. Great video Nelson, now back to the course!
and where can I get this 'hoodie' sounds fun

Amazing finish...loving this series, thanks!
You make concepts too easy to understand man, huge thanks! Yours and Danyas speedruns have taken me from 400 Elo to 1200 over the past year.

Saw the same thing ,don’t think we are missing anything
These lessons are amazing! You are the man
I just wanted to say, thank you for the latest course. I have gone from 500 to 908 as I write this , since the course came out. I learned so much.
You're welcome! That's awesome!
crazy positional game man!!! nice video
Good lesson on piece movement and timing. All great information. Thanks
Lol. Generative ai has no idea how to setup a chess set
Which AI? I didn't see any
@@enderyu oh, the thumbnail is ai generated
@@LostKin69 I guess Nelson changed the thumbnail? The current one is a screenshot of the position analyzed
@enderyu oh ha. Yeah that makes sense. Creators do change their thumbnails and titles often, in order to see what gets clicked more. Or maybe he uses ai to get the video out sooner, and then makes his own preferred thumbnail after
What was the thumbnail before
Wow! Great instructive video. Keep them coming and Thanks !
Great video! thanks Nelson
Nice video! At 8:56 Just wondering, wouldn't Bishop c2 block the c file? You previously mentioned that you wanted the c file open

I saw the b4 idea, I thought about playing it as the first move but saw the Queen could escape to c7, that should’ve been a clue for me 😅
Good concepts! Thanks!
Thank you for your advice. I find it hard to remember all your tips.
Great stuff. Thank you.
Your videos are very very helpful.
Really enjoy learning from your videos, I pray all is well with you and your family brother. God bless
Wow! That b4 move is powerful! It comes out of no where!
I saw all the moves except Qe7. Thank You Nelson for your amazing videos. Because of you was able to reach 1380 from 600 in half a year
I saw b4 for the right reasons! But at the wrong time: couldn't find Qe7 to not let the queen back. So when you showed Qe7, I already knew the rest
Isnt the logo thingy missing from the thumbnail? I was actually using that to recognize videos from the series
13:05 You missed something here. Your queen can give a check and get a free bishop, while taking a solid position on rank 7.
it's actually only winning a pawn, Qxe7 there is Kf8 defending the bishop
Well presented; thank you for sharing.
I knew that it was bad but i didnt know how to punish it 😢
12:10 Why not Bg5 to setup the Greek gift vs a move that can be countered easily?
The Greek gift only works if your knight can go to g5
Cool vid
Hey Nelson, what if you played a version of chess where you can capture your own pieces if you want?
Interesting game , thank you !
18:58 Can black avoid the problem by playing Rook b8?
I looked at Qe7, Rxd1check, Rxd1, Rb8 protecting the bishop and moving out of the way but the simple Rb8 looks better and saves the game. Nice get!
Positional chess is so important

Can you do a video about considerations for castling queenside (or not at all)?
I prefer an early nc3 to nf3 because White has an easy g4 against f5 in the triangle variation. A quick Bd3 I don't like because Bxc4 in 2 tempi instead of one tempo.
Is that a Caro Kann or a Caro Kan't?
Yo bro nice vid
This is such a great channel for chess. If I had any talent at all it would have me to 1500 by now.

Because are center pawns and not flank pawns
Can you make a video serie of How to Reassess Your Chess ?
Regarding c5, I also felt that black has a nice b6 break. Nelson, what are your thoughts on that response?
When Black played Rd8 and then Castled King Side next move, why wouldn't Black save a bit of time and Castle Queen Side?
Ngl, great video.😃
Also, why do we play Bd3?🤔
We are losing a tempo in the development after dxc4.🤨
Also Nelson please answer my question.🙂

I like more Rd3 instead of b4: I do not see how black can avoid checkmate. If f4 or f6, then Rh3. Otherwise Qf6+ and Rg3#
I’m 1100 and found b4 but for the first pausing point, but not sure how to handle Qc7.. then the Qe7 move made it clear that b4 comes second.
This exactly what I saw too. I liked b4 but knew the black queen still had c7 and missed Qe7.
Thank you i always do that and now i know that its not that good.
Still waiting for common mistakes of 18-1900s :)))❤
i like your videos nelson theyre helping me get to 1100 ive been at 1000 for like 3 weeks
instead of b4 I found the move Rd3 which happens to be good as well ! xD
Wow they are amazing ideas for me a 1000 player
How is your leg now??
Just out of curiosity, at 13:00, what is wrong with this variation? As Qxe6+ wins the dark squared bishop as well regaining the piece and creating a more damaged structure of black instead of just the exchange?
Wow i just crossed 900 but i saw b4.
Feeling like a pro right now😂
