You know you are a top notch teacher when you explain not just how to do something the way it is done, but also the whys and hot tips. Excellent!
Oh man, I'm in love. I've already resurfaced my old veneer bathroom countertops. However, I thought I would be stuck with my kitchen tile countertops because I can not afford to have them redone with granite. After finding Mike and StoneCoat, I'm going to work on covering my tile. I'm so excited. I may be 67 yrs. old, but I think I can handle this. Thank you so much for renewing my hope of getting rid of the old tile and grout!!
Oh jeez, thank you!!! I've been looking to cover my tiles, didn't want to take them off or pay for something new. This is perfect. I'm excited now. 😀
Thank you for all your videos! I finally worked up the courage to do my countertop over some ugly stone tile and it came out amazing!
I'm sold. I was dreading the mess from removing my old tile. Now I will be ordering for sure.
Me too. This is great idea. Thumbs up.
Please let us know how that went! Thanks!
It would be easier to remove the tile and do Stone coat over the plywood. How'd it go?
I love discovering a channel like yours and going back to see the older vids. Your growth is amazing! Congrats! I am not even sure how I stumbled across you but you're my number 1 tutorial channel for my projects. I'm hooked! I already have 3 projects in my pocket. Thank you.
Oh thank you so much! I just purchased a home that has the original kitchen from 1987 - with those tile countertops you can't roll out dough on and just are such a pain to clean. This is a good option to replacing the countertops right now and buys me time if I want to do a bigger update later down the road. You've really done a good job with the step-by-step instructions that even I can follow.
it's so cool to see Mike long ago and see his/their success and polishing over the years, but he's always got that genuine enthusiasm for his viewers and projects that is so infectious, because that's just the awesome guy he is. I'm fascinate by the skill and art and I'm so inspired to do epoxy everything lol, but i also enjoy just watching him be himself enough to watch the videos for that alone.
Thank you for posting this video - it really convinced me that this kind of operation was possible in the first place. However, after some research and experimentation I have modified and in my humble opinion improved your approach. The two main concerns I had with it was that 1) prep took two days for both concrete treatments to set 2) achieving smooth, level surface involved a lot of manual corrections. My approach was the following:
1) paint the tiles with multi-purpose bonding primer by Custom
2) wait an hour
3) fill the grout groves on the edges with a fast setting concrete product such as SpeedFinish or Bondo
4) wait 2-3 hours for it to set
5) since the surface of the tiles are surrounded by the raised edge and the wall we can pour self-levelling concrete over it to achieve a smooth level surface with little to no effort - I used LevelQuick RS mixed with water according to manufacturers instructions
6) let it dry overnight
This procedure achieves smooth, level surface twice as fast (1 day instead of 2) than the original. It only works for tiles with a raised edge, but it's something worth considering!
I appreciate how genuine and user-friendly the presentation is. I has built up our confidence to do our project!

What color recipe would you go with for your home?
I love the work you do! More people need to know about this! you just got a new sub, I am hooked! Making busted up furniture look new and beautiful again! Yes sir you have skills! thanks for this channel!
Watched this 3 times now and am going to try it on my counters. I'm actually excited to try it.
Just amazing, beautiful work. Appreciate you sharing your talent and knowledge with all of us!
I have a tile kitchen counter and tile backsplash 18” high. I’m not able to remove and replace the tile with MDF so I’d like to see how you’d address this issue. I’ve called in and talked to several people but seeing you do it would be so helpful.
Love your ideas and enthusiasm. Sometimes I just don’t see how it’s going to look good but you make it all come together and make it look fantastic. Thanks so much!
This was an amazing video! I have nasty tile in my kitchen and this will be sooo awesome over this tile! Thank you so much for the tutorial!!
This gentleman is a Craftsman, that's something you become because you've seen it first, I should know my Mother was one of Bob R. best students, he is what you are seeing an Artist of Coatings and Processes. Thanks for posting, looks fantastic!!!
Thanks Hal! Have you tried our epoxy on any of your projects before? -Nathan

I am dying laughing at these comments lol this man runs a whole business and yall telling him what he needs to do Lmao he must be doing something right if he has customers this is just a simple I bet he does great when he has a full job lol
Shantel Roseboro I was thinking the same, plus this goes in the kitchen and takes a lot of wear and tear. Do it right the first time!!!
Shantel Roseboro he does! He's the michalangelo of decorative refurbishment
While this guy does do a good job, your argument isn't good either. You know how many contractors run their own business but are complete garbage at construction? A lot.
Just because somebody runs a company that doesn't make them an expert nor does it mean they can't learn something
For real, this guy is literally giving someone a business for free. Instead of learning and creating, they're critics. And we wonder why we haven't advanced much socially 😂
I’m currently in the process of converting a counter exactly like your “old tile” example and turning it into one looking much like your replacement. I appreciate this informative video so seriously much sir!
Love what y'all do can't get enough. Gonna redo our Non-profit HQ with your Inspirational videos 🥰💗💖
Absolutely stunning. I am going to try this over my tile countertop. Thanks for the clear, step by step instructions. Great instructions.
Did you ever try it ?
I would love to see an updated video on this!! My home has these kind of counters, backsplash as well. Id love to see how youd do around a sink thats level with the counter as well. (Not a top mount but not an undermount sink either)
i was curious about the sink too
Interesting way of applying product I liked the end result. The mixing of different products and the use of the torch was a surprise! I work in the automotive industry with a background in painting and this is a complete 180 from that.
I am so excited to try this! i was dreading doing the kitchen in my front house with that horrible tile and now i cant wait!!
So how did it go?
That was beautiful!!! Great step-by-step instructions and makes me feel like I can do this!! I have no experience with remodeling but my parents are selling their home and have old 70s tan tile that needs to go.
simply WOW. This guy is a real badass in what he does. The finished product is literally immaculate. I learned a lot and loved the attention to details. Perfection.
Phenomenal! Look forward to sealing these grout lines once and for all!
How it went for me!
First go with versabond- I left it too dry, but a wet sponge worked wonders.
Second layer of Levelquik w bonding adhesive.. Oh yaaaa, she’s looking good!

Full Send with the White Carrara Marble Kit & I should have poured slower on the left side of the sink, but overall very pleased & was a very fun DIY project that the house could collaborate on!
Side note - Prep, Prep & Prep for easy clean up, then patience on the pouring is the key!
that is amazing. You teach it very good and explain everything perfectly. love it.
Absolutely fabulous Mike... Now I know I can replace my parent's old nasty tile countertops.

Thank you for the great content and information. I have a large kitchen countertop that's all tile. I really don't want to tear out the tile and the countertops plus backsplash. Looking forward to doing a Stone Coat project in my kitchen, and I'm doing the culture marble countertops in both my upstairs bathrooms. Can't wait to get started on this one
Watching Robert Norman Ross makes painting look easy. Watching you create countertops with epoxy looks easy. Don't sell yourself short; you are most definitely an artist. I've watched tens of poured epoxy videos and looked at hundreds of poured epoxy photos. No one even comes close to having a natural stone look the way you do. You have created several pieces like this one that rival natural stone. Excellent work. I've watched and learned so much from you that I felt it was time to say something. Thank you.
This product is the real deal. It works so well and it is unbelievable.
looks great but I'm waaaay lazy to even attempt this kind of project! found the video very interesting though. I'll go check out a few more.
I had the same thought. Way too much work for a DIY. :D
Bro much respect I love how that pcs came out I’m going to try and do that to my kitchen cabinets I’m glad you made this video
Now that's dedication! Nice finish
I would like to see a new video on epoxying over old tile on the wall

Me too x
I came on here to ask for the same thing

Great job !
When i do mine I will form the front edge first to eliminate the bullnose. Thanks for the help
Mike - has any one done a tile floor? Could your product wear well enough to be a floor? What would a good maintenance program look like? I thought it might be great looking to do a floor and countertops in a bathroom. You know, all the horizontal surfaces marble with the vertical surfaces painted in complimentary colors.
No answer...?
@@ghizi24 Curious of this answer as well - would love to know if this might translate somehow to a ceramic tile flooring
Thanks for taking the time and effort to share your knowledge.....it is much appreciated...
Thank you for kind feedback lawrence mccoy! Are you planning any projects?
Wow! I was wondering if this would work over tile. Amazing. Impressive. Love it. This guy is so good at explaining things & he's fascinating to watch. Thank you so much for this video!!
Exactly, he's one of the best demonstrators I've seen. He's got a great teaching method and an engaging personality - great combo.
Omg I am beyond amazed! Had no idea this was even possible! Here I am looking up removing countertops and came across this video. The extra work going into it I think is worth the custom finished look. Subscribed and been to your website already.
You have to remove splash back an do it horizontal an then put it back up, if that's not possible you will need to cut new wood an do it horizontal an fit it to the wall,
First time I seen somebody using regular spray paint over epoxy to work together. really impress to see that since they don¨t teach you that at the class taken!! Really cool work!!!
Thanks a lot for sharing!! sure will be around to watch other great videos!!! Saludos!!!
You are the Bob Ross of Epoxy countertops

Yep, I’m sold. That looks beautiful!
I just love your countertops. The sienna color is so pretty. Your topcost glows in the light. May you enjoy many happy years in your beautiful kitchen. 7/13/2020 love this. Just what I have been looking for. Great job. Thank you
Can I stop at the concrete stage and then do a top coat of clear epoxy? Also, I don't see the bonding primer on the website for sale anymore. Am I missing it?
Just curious after its dry how safe is it to place food on top btw beautiful work
This is an excellent video. I think I will do this over a disgusting ceramic tile countertop in an older home I just bought. As much as I hate wearing a mask, I think I would do that when sanding and when pouring power materials out of the bag.
Thanks for doing this video because I asked this question of y’all about my island that’s shiny, forest green tile, and our yellow laminate countertops. Bleh. I can’t wait to get started on our countertops!!!
Wish you would film in HD, such beauty needs to be appreciated! I can only get 480p and on my retina display it looks fuzzy.
Question...Is there a way to cover existing tile countertops AND be able to replace the sink? I have a very outdated cast iron/porcelain type sink that I want to replace. It appears to be installed underneath the tile. Thank you so much for your help and wisdom.
Take the sink out first. Put a bag in the hole and cover to make it look like whatever you want.they had a video where they did that
Oh my gosh, how I wish I could get that done to my countertops. I would be a happy camper. Do y’all ever do charity for seniors? Ha ha y’all are awesome
To me this is the best work i've seen
Sir continue posting ur works i love them and am proud to tell u dat i have been learning alot sir
Around 25:30 you said it looked like a concrete counter top.. Is it possible to stop there and seal it to get the look of concrete countertops without all the work? It absolutely looks like a legit concrete countertop. That would save a whole lot of hassle if you could stop at that point. I'm curious to see how you do the bull nose and how the epoxy looks afterwards. I have the same type of countertops in my kitchen and I would love to do this because we don't have that much counter space. We figure if it gets messed up we can just replace it because it's not that much square footage. Do you do training or anything like that so people can represent your company and other states and do installations? I love this type of work. I think would be really successful business if you had some type of training. Anyone in North Carolina?
Great instructional video, thanks! I am wondering how much of the concrete bonding adhesive, thinset mortar and self-leveling underlayment is needed for ~50sq ft of countertop
A lot more steps and products than other companies need. You guys are breathing in all of that.
Quick question, on the curved edge does it become squared off after all the leveling coats or does its still remain curved? Also what is the difference between your epoxy and the epoxy resin that home depot carries? I have worked with that resin before on smaller projects for tables I have made in the automotive industry for show cars and would like to know if there is any difference. Thank you.
Would love to see this color with some copper tones in it!
Or golds
How does the epoxy stand up to scratches and hot pans set on it?
I love this video
I will do it on my tile countertops
Thanks!
Your video the best I’ve seen on this Great way of explaining how to do this thank you so much
Mike, great video, full screen is working! Max video quality is only at 480p. I couldn't quite see it, but looks like audio has improved with your clip on microphone
Too Mach work for libel piece I don’t to think haw much time many mass and material mid and this is flat if it’s wall it’s big mass
Mike, just wondering how durable is the countertop after you apply the epoxy coatings. So interested on redoing our old and outdated tile countertop. Thanks for the tutorial videos you have.
Repent, freemason.
Amazing. Wow. I am going to do this to my entire kitchen
I think he was hungry when he made this. Thanks good Instructor Skills you present!
Very cool.
We have kitchen tile countertops, but also backsplashes. How/can would you do this on those vertical surfaces?
Same here, was thinking about just putting a piece of stainless steel up against it before pouring the epoxy and bending at the top to attach to the underside of the cabinet.
But the link doesn't work... 🧐
theirs a video on vertical surfaces go check it out
I like the haircut on day 3
Do you have a installer in California or do you travel to do this work cor clients. I'll agree to do a commercial, ad or publication if you do. I haven't been able to find anyone that does this professionally in or around Los Angeles, Ca.

thanks for sharing your tips and tricks and I'm sure there's more I think a blue and a silver maybe a little grey but I believe there's probably a few more tricks involved to accomplish that
I know this video is 3 years old but I have the replica tile that I despise and am looking forward to changing. I’m so excited to finally find a solution!!!💓💖💓
Hi and thank you for a great video. Question:
Once dry, does the final coat of clear epoxy withstand very hot pots and pans??
Good question, I want to know too.
@@downthetubeigo I am interested to start this job commercially, I don't have any information, how can buy this materia.please guide me.

There is a demonstration video in which a pot with boiling be water is set on it as well as a hot frying pan with eggs. No marks or damage.
They also have a video showing how they poured alcohol over it and caught it on fire.
How durable is the finish? And if it does get scratched, how do you repair it? Thanks - Great Video
Rock44260 doesn’t scratch & heat resistant.
If it does scratch, sand with sander and buff back out to shine their website has the supplies to do this and other videos on HOW to do it.
Great video, I like that your always adding new techniques. Still looking for those stands your using to hold your boards.
OMG! The final effect is awesome. Thank you.
It looks great. I would like to try this but have question. Can this be done with sink attached to countertop or do I have to remove it? Or just tape it off?
yes it can. i have seen one of his videos doing it
Your final product looks great. Can I apply this to my shower floor that has old ugly tile? Immediately I see two obstacles: the shower floor is not leveled, pitching to the drain. How to apply watery epoxy to the shower floor that has pitching surfaces? Secondly, is the final surface slippery? How can I make the surface NOT slippery? Thank you very much.
Great question zensea! The surface will be slippery when wet. Our epoxy is a self leveling product so it will want to run down toward the drain due to the pitch, we don't recommend it for shower floor application. Contact us anytime with questions or for project support. (541)450-1976
@@StoneCoatCountertopscan this product be applied over/on an old cast iron tub instead of having the tub electroplated?
Did he say granify it😂, I love this guy, truly a labor of love, looks awesome.
StoneCoatCountertops love it
That is if you want to apply epoxy on a floor of about 2sq ft am I going to use this all over the floor or just apply this at the tile joins an sand after dry
Make sure you wear a particle filter mask throughout this project or you're looking at a case of silicosis at a minimum. Guy is crazy doing this without one.
I love your videos. You should try to put some old newspapers under the epoxy, I think that would look cool.
love to watch your work come out of that stuff. can't get enough
We appreciate that! What is your favorite color combination?
Hey Mike, I was wondering what do you suggest I use to bond my mosiac tiles to my MDF ( not sure if those are the right initials) board since I'll be using an epoxy grout and finish off with two coats of stone coats clear epoxy finish. Do you think I'll need to surround my countertops with 2x4s so my stone coat epoxy will set up in a completely smooth covering over the tiles??
Sorry about all my questions, I'm so excited to use Stone coat. I just haven't been able to find a video of anyone who's doing a countertop like mine. I'm open to suggestions on how best to get this DIY project in the success column!!!
Thank you again! I'll be ordering my stone coat epoxy after the first of the month.
Take care!

I realize you were doing a demo, where a respirator would have been a bit clunky, but I hope you guys use them on actual day-to-day jobs when mixing mortars and thin sets.
I need help finding some products at home-depot. Any other suggestions
No problem Hilda! Check out the tools we love to use on our projects! -Nathan www.stonecoatcountertops.com/favorite-tools-checklist
Mike, is it possible to do this technique with a satin finish rather than the high gloss?
how would this work on walls? I want to redo my bathroom and all the walls are half tile except for the tub/shower which is floor to ceiling. I want to go with a natural stone look. Thanks
Could we just put the epoxy straight on the primer? I dont care about the tile grooves. Or could we ONLY use versabond? That seemed to be good enough to create a smooth workable surface? Why the thinset ON TOP OF versabond? Again I don't Cate about grout joints, unless there is a quality or endurance issue connected to the thorough prepping? Bumps, grooves, and joints add character, or at least I'm able to justify my laziness by using that as an excuse to not do SO MANY steps.
Did you ended doing it this way ?
Instead of versa bond try webcrete it's way smoother .
Thanks for the tip William!
Stone Coat Countertops 😂 goooooo William‼️🤣🤣🤣
Thank you for your quick response, I’ll hit you up again when it’s time to pour the epoxy.
I was wondering if there is a way to have a matte finish as opposed to shinny or glossy? I think that could be more realistic looking in many cases as not all stone is that glossy. Could give a really cool effect.
Cool. Now I'm waiting for you next project. Now that you've just about done everything else & you're going vertical, doing a tile wall over a bath tub would be the ultimate!
Hi Nana Ann! Stay tuned, we have many more amazing projects coming soon and vertical wall is on our schedule!
@@StoneCoatCountertops Hey, you're getting there! I've seen the vertical shower panels & converting countertop tiles. I know if anyone can figure out how to cover shower tiles & come up with any technique on the vertical, you'll be the first! Until then, each technique gets better & better...so many choices!
This is great. Can I do this to a 8x15 kitchen floor?
Yes.
Can you show how to do it on tile on the shower wall
I'm sure you can add some type of flake just like epoxied garage floors to make them slip resistant.
I think you could measure, then make shower walls, add this epoxy finish while walls are flat and then install them upright into a shower. Lot of work. I don’t see you being able to add this to existing upright, tiled shower walls.
@@oceanbrzzz Go to their website & you'll see the steps for creating walls for the shower. FYI, it's starting fresh, not a redo of an existing.
@Meeno Do Perhaps
liatofly churchie is thinking of a tile wall over a tub like I am. As for the floor, you're correct if you're talking about over a shower pan. But if the floor was also tiled, I can't see why it wouldn't work. As long as the existing grout isn't showing spread, seems like it's handling the weight bearing aspect okay (unless there was additional weight factor to account for with the overlays)
Will this work on vertical tile? Kinda like the video you did on the vertical wall where you used the thickener and troweled on the epoxy. Also, can you skip the second thin-set? This is for tiled walls in a tub / shower stall.
Thanks for this!! What if I’m going for a white marble look over existing tile countertops? Do I add a layer of white primer after the gray Level Quick in order to get a white base layer?
HOW DO YOU DO THE BACK SPLASH?
Yes. I hesitate to purchase the product until they show how to do it.
Simple, you can't. They aren't answering because there is no solution to that problem. The only thing you can do is replace your back splash with something that will match well with whatever color you choose for your epoxy finish. You will have to remove the old tile back splash and replace with new tile or some other surface material.
@@suburbanhobbyist2752 Yes you can do the back splashes. You perform the same steps.
@@andrewmarkert1146 You can do the backsplash if you do it while it is horizontal and then install it vertically but try and get the same results if you do it with the backsplashes in place. Do those steps on a vertical surface and your epoxy is going to flow right off that surface or at the very least it's going to gather and be much thicker at the bottom of the backsplash. The best you can do is put a light coat on multiple times but it won't look the same as the counter top.
@@suburbanhobbyist2752 You should watch the videos of it being done then. It's not rocket science.
