    For those who are using a plug in mains cord ("pigtail"), the strain relief bushing shown in the video at 2 min 50 seconds appears to be a Halex 1/2" ACC non-metallic strain relief cord connector that I got from Home Depot (SKU 475002).

      Thank you... I came here hoping someone had this info!

      What am I doing wrong with this? I have the Halex one, but it seemed like it wouldn't fit through the hole. I removed the knockout, but now the cap fits through the hole too. Do you remember if you ended up removing the knockout?

      @RunDeeply Рік тому

      @@JessicaVanderhoffI looked at mine from the outside and I don't see a knockout where the power cord goes in on the left. I think there was one on the right hand side where the sprinkler wiring comes in. Are you installing the power cord or wires to the sprinkler valves? Looking at the video at 3m 4s are you on the left or right?

    I had an external power outlet so I used a 14 AWG three prong pigtail, passed through a Pro Connex Cord Grip Connector with Strain Relief 1/2", SKU 49211 which I picked up at Lowes. This also required a Pro Connex 1/2" Conduit Locknut, SKU 47101, that was not included with the Cord Grip Connector.
    Per the included note in the box, the opening for the power is 7/8 inch diameter, the opening for the zone wiring is 1 1/18" or 1 3/8".

    Rachio, please link and state the sizes for some of these items. The relief cord connectors and cable, ext, it would make this video so much better !! Also edit the new help link :)

      Well each home is difference and the electrical and irrigation pipes are all difference. My previous rain bird had it so I just reused.

  • @ncvman
    @ncvman 4 місяці тому

    Some of my wires were short and noticed previous installer had two zones wired into 1 slot on the rain bird. To fix the shore wire issue I stripped a left over 14/2 electrical wire down and cut about 6 inches off of the white. Then I stripped both ends of this new 6 inch long wire just over 1/4 of inch. Then I used a wirenut to attached the irrigation wire and this new wire. Stuffed it back in box now I have plenty of slack. As far as the two wires into one zone this didn’t work for me so all I did was put it onto its own zone. The wires wires were too thick to fit into one. Additionally if I wanted to I could pig tail all 3 wires together. 2 zone plus the one new extension wire.

    What size are the bushing and power fitting?

    • @ncvman
      @ncvman 4 місяці тому

      Bring box to Lowe’s along with the size of the tubes going into the box from your irrigation and electric. All are difference.

    WHAT SIZE DRILL BIT FOR THE WALL ANCHORS THAT AREPROVIDED? Can't find this info anywhere it's always omitted

    • @ncvman
      @ncvman 4 місяці тому

      There are two anchors sizes. Just take the anchor and put it behind a drill bit. Try to match the same size if not just a hair cut under. Use hammer to force it in.

    I used a $1 plastic tupperware containier. Worked slick. Slide the container cover on the wall behind the controller, then simply screw down the controller. When done, attach the container to the lid.

      @@valcanoful Well, its still there, but the paint I sprayed on it is flaking off. I used the paint for UV protection. It worked really slick. Everyone should do it! Don't use one of those $1 knockoffs from the dollar store. Use a tupperware or Glad. Not sure if mine was actually tupperware. But it did have a strong snap on closure.

    My existing power for my RainBird has red, black, and white wires. Which ones do I connect to white, green, and black?

    • @ncvman
      @ncvman 4 місяці тому

      Odd. No ground? 3 wires is a 14/3 which is used for a three way switch. Call electrician.

    Where do I get the particular strain relief bushing for the drip irrigation wires as shown and mentioned at 1:49 in the video? Home depot and lowes staff had no clue. Please help!

      JQ Machgunner I successfully found them at Amazon. They're also called relief cord connectors. Try searching on the HD and/or Lowes websites. You can find out if your local store has them and where they're located before you go.
