@@lesballard9959 that was first thing the 2nd day. I’ve had to get medical attention to it as it got infected and swelled up real bad I’m on antibiotics now. Apart from that, this old carcass has fared quite well.
You have a great name. Yeah, I normally hike with a 75L pack that sits up around 18 to 20 KG’s which I don’t mind but I needed to move a bit quicker on this one, what kind of weight do you get your pack down to a multi day hikes?
Bro that was me and my mate you bumped into when we were napping from hunting! Keep posting all your videos and encourgang ithers to explore the world outside!!!
Hey there, the two men sleeping in the bush 😉 Did you get anything, I spooked a deer on day two and two hunters had just shot another on the old n/s track past Wahine rock?
Thanks Dave, we just missed you at Okioki, stayed at Mangamuka 31st and hunted our way to Okioki in the morning. Looking forward to completing the SH29 to Karangahake as soon as I can... Can't wait for part 2...
Pity, I’d saw your entry in the book. Did you pick up the hiking poles that I think it was Sarah (red hair lady on her own) had left? The Intentions book indicated she was meant to be at Poupou campsite that night too but when I got there at 10pm I was alone so I suspect she realised she’d left them back at Te Whare Okioki and went back for them and changed her plans? I was told about them from a guy heading south Id passed and I was going to pick them up and take them to her at Poupou but like I said I couldn’t find the poles and she wasn’t at campsite, bit of a mystery?
@OutdoorsmanDave they were still there when we left, another couple asked if they were ours. Another gentleman nearly left his phone on the charger, thankfully he didn't get too far befor returning for it.
@@kenrossiter297 I think I met thst couple too as, she like foreigner and quite a bit older than him? That’s just weird, she must’ve come back for them and change her plans, I was really looking forward to using her poles as my main pole for my tent and having a camping buddy
What watch are you using Dave? Looks very similar to my Garmin Fenix, which is an awesome bit of kit! Mine seems to display and record in km and metres. It does FAR more than what i user it for, but I've found it quite handy to quickly check the map screen at a trail intersection without having to take out a phone or map if it is marked on the Garmin maps. Might have saved you going off on your little tangent!
stashed a rather large fly i had made up ,and its still there ,not far from the Wairere falls clearing, that was back in 2003, with intention of coming back to pick up, sadly never did ,ended up in Western Australia and have never really ventured back to nz to get it. Alway enjoyed coming up the falls track to hunt ,carried a few heavy packs of meat out of there.
@@pt4036 interesting, did you come across anything interesting like waterfalls or caves or huts that I need to go off and explore? DM me directly if you did.
@ yeah you’re right. I’m not used to taking extra weight. Maybe I could just be your camera man. So you don’t need to stop and walk back to get your camera. 🤪
@@gregdixon172 Certainly make the hike quicker but then we can get all those new female followers because you wouldn’t be in front of the camera yourself.

The North -South track is definitely on my to do list, so I look forward to the rest of your videos!
You always have unique places in the videos, as if they came from the most beautiful fairy tales. Outstanding hike man!
Aww thankyou, I love to explore new places, makes me feel alive 👋
