@@OutdoorsmanDave I have done both there. But now we have a camper, just van camp. There are a number of good campsite around there, but Urchin is my fav. Like the walk to the pillars. I often spend the night there if traveling between Auckland and Palmy, break the drive in two.
A beautiful part of the country 🇳🇿
Yes, I’ve filmed many adventures in the Kaimanawas and the Tongariro National park.
One of my favourite parts of the North Island. So much to see and do.
Which way do you go, west to National Park or East to Kawekas?
@OutdoorsmanDave Pureora FP to the north west is also a great spot. Some big podocarps that thankfully dodged the chainsaw.
What do you think of the Urchin Campsite? Have you visited it yourself, or is there another nearby that you prefer? Please let me know your thoughts.
great video i like taking 2min noodles aswell, on my last trip i cooked my dehy in the noodle broth which made it taste great
Thanks Blair, I don’t like the single sachet chicken stock, way prefer this type.
Have stayed there many times. Hoping to be back down that way soon for a night or two.
@@joehiker8114 Do you tent or van camp?

@@joehiker8114 clever 👍
Looks like a nice campsite, have to check it out. I think I know every bend in the Tukino Road...chains on all four wheels on a couple of trips up.
Are you a club member? What’s it like to ski at, I’ve spent many a day on the slopes on the west side but never Tukino.
