It never occurred to you there are two different words for a reason until this video? No curiosity about the nomenclature at all? Or when you saw pictures they didn't look different in any way? Wow.
Not really, he stated that 40% of the lions diet can be porcupines in a draught. Which means they are only save as long as the lion is not hungry enought for a serious attack.

I mean, he is not exactly wrong. Porcupines will aggressively attack predators, though more by ramming and tail swiping then outright jumping into them.
The simple edition of animations makes the video a lot more humorous :P I hope making these videos make you happy and not stressed, and thanks for the facts on porcupines as well! (I think you should try looking up on the mantis shrimp if you want an interesting creature to showcase, unless if you made a video on it already)
The sleloton of a pork pine is a great example of why our depiction of most dinosaurs could be very wrong and shinkwrapped like, if you saw a ppine skelly you would never know it had theses, and some dinosaurs might be missing really cool traits fossils dont keep :/
Watching this reminds me of one particular episode of the RTV series, 'Alaska: the last frontier'. Some of the Kilcher family were being plagued by a particular porcupine: in the midst of important tasks, they had to stop to de-quill a dog, a horse and a calf. The critter was so bold and bolshy it made a real nuisance of itself. until one of the Kilchers decided to hunt it down and shoot it, whereupon it became dinner. My dad and I refer to the episode as the 'Bald-Ass Porcupine' episode ( we did get to see the varmint, whose rear end was indeed denuded of quills) and the resultant meal at the end of it as 'Bald-Ass Porcupine Stew'.
I am Porcupine in Human kingdom Steve...I love your video...Even lions think twice before they grab this cute animal for supper...everyday i learn something new..Thank you !
There are discrepancies in this video. African porcupine quills are not barbed. They are smooth, so they don’t tend to migrate. Only the new world porcupines have the barbs and that notorious migrating problem. Also, north american porcupines have a waxy resin on their quills that provides a natural antibiotic, because porcupines are clumsy and tend to accidentally quill themselves rather frequently (their quills are twice as sharp as hypodermic needles), so infections are fairly infrequent. Also, they cannot shoot quills. That’s like saying you can shoot your hair. I’m working towards a M.S. in the study of hystrix, because porcupines are the best creatures pretty much ever.
Why have you usd Tom's cry as the lion's painful roar ? It's just so hilarious 🤣🤣🤣🤣 , BTW I am from India and I just love your videos . 👍🏼👍🏼 Keep going . ❤️❤️
When I was young, one of our cats came home with a dozen or so quills under its forelegs - apparently this is considered quite rare. In any case, they insisted that the she be put under anaesthesia before even trying to remove them...
Important addendum: If you must, you should only use your own spit to lick your wounds. Every human has a unique mouth flora (bacteria and stuff that live in your mouth). While you enjoy limited immunity against your own, the saliva of others has a far higher risk of leading to serious infection.
@@michealk9646 your immune system is somewhat tuned to the bacteria in your mouth and gut (due to coming in contact with them through nicks and cuts). The same can't be said for the bacterial composition of other people. That being said, I will admit that this is something I've heard or read quite a while ago and I haven't bothered to verify it for this post. So it could be nonsense. Either way, licking superficial wounds is probably fine since saliva contains anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial compounds as well as promoting blood clots and aiding in wound healing. But especially for deeper cuts, where the bacteria can get deeper inside the wound, you should probably stick with water, soap, antiseptics and band-aids. 🤷♂️
It's funny how something as random as a porcupine is one of the best evolved beings on the planet, even "discovering" antibiotics way before humans did.
Just going to say that flanged arrows were hunting arrows as the flanges made it just about impossible to get through armor. Also, bodkin arrows were the ones for penetrating armor (still difficult vs plate because platemail) not the one you showed.
Can you explain how one minute they are "not exactly sterile" then the next minute they are coated in antibacterial oils and beneficial to the porcupine? Kind of lost me on that one
