Sitting with mine, had to dremal the mag catch quite a bit to fit and the inside of the hand guard as the piston rod was rubbing but all good now. I have 5 calico guns 22 and 9mm ( never had issues with mine) and because I use a lot of steel cased ammo I put ammo in a ziplock and add some powdered graphite, then mix it around. It makes all of the cases very slippery. I’m waiting for the clear magazine to show up next. Going to shoot it next weekend.
Mine is also rubbing and prevents the bolt from locking up unless I smack the hell out of it. Which then requires a good amount of force to unlock. I’m gonna do some dremel work tomorrow to take care of it but I’m kind of disappointed this wasn’t fixed prior to production.
This is so cool. Cant wait to see more folks get this. Out of my price range for now (considering I’d need to buy the pistol too) but one day I’ll pick this up!

I understand wanting to keep the video moving by skipping the screws in the magwell, but you could have shared the Allen key sizes and how you broke down the thread locker psa applied. I have tried torching them and I've still managed to snap the tool i was using without any progress
Okay, but if you guys came up with an AK Gepard style Mag-In-Grip conversion for 9mm Aks, that would be freaking sweet (especially since the Gepard is in the new COD Black Ops)
Dude, I would not tell people to remove any material from the magazine. Most people aren’t built to do stuff like that. Only the mag catch which is easily replaced if screwed up
As somebody who just filed an East German Weiger to a rock solid fit on my PSA 101 I agree with you 100% Hand filing and profiling geometries is a long perished skill.

I been buying armalite platform never owned an ak before so not really sure whats even available for them. Can u put in a trigger equal to that of a triggertech diamond in an Ar? Ive never even pulled the trigger on one of them before kinda like a glock to me but ive been wondering.
For 58 rounds, it is a really hard sell over traditional drums at 50 rounds for the whole kit to be honest. I really almost pre ordered but I couldn't justify it myself. ALSO I am wondering how much heat soak the aluminum handguard will absorb after a few of the helical mags. It may be self limiting. Here is, however, one VERY crucial tactical advantage to the kit. The Stizon mags carry much much MUCH better on the person than ANY of the drum mag counterparts due to their cylindrical shape.....ymmv, but this is the only true advantage tactically.
I can see why helical mags like this never really took off. You need a manual of arms to use it, whereas you just jam in a stick mag. Still, I always loved this gun and I want to build one.
Also due to them being less reliable (as all drums are) and being difficult to service. Still really cool, just not that great from a military standpoint

@@stincusa Thanks for the clarification. I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed but that charging handle is definitely on the left side of the ak instead of the traditional right hand charging handle. Image flipping doesn't change that.
If you keep it to a max of 55 loaded and then spring to the last three clicks all the rounds stay tucked in the mag and won’t come out. Unless the tab gets pushed.
Downloading by 3 rounds seems like overkill to me, do the mags not run as reliably if you have it at max capacity? I'm just wondering how you came to that number.
love sti, but I'm sorry this thing is ridiculous. overly complex, "finicky" to load, requires you alter your AK to make normal mags unable to be used, might need dremeling to fit...seriously, whyyy...???

Looks like alot of slop around the front sight. And you now have some super sharp edges from the points of the handguard retainer being on the outside.

Profesh Camera man here just wanted to say you can flag your camera man as much as you want they are immortal and it improves performance
When removing small parts that are under spring tension, throwing a small rag over it as you remove the keeps the spring from going too far off.
Or use a magnetic tray like a civilized person.
I've used a shoebox covered in plastic wrap.

Probably a different camera. Some cameras record the image reversed...its very annoying.

Almost twice the round captivity with a less protruding magazine. Sounds to me like stick mags would be less practical in this case

these things are junk, the mags jam regularly and the tolerances are off between AKVs which are likely a PSA thing but it still doesnt work correctly.
