- LTE NETWORK SIGNAL BOOSTER How does it work? Do you need it? (Verizon).
I live in a rural area about 35 min out of Houston. Cellular reception is not best around here. Despite having one of the best (or most expensive carrier), I am still experiencing bad reception inside my house. Since I am a long time loyal customer of Verizon they sent me a Verizon LTE Network.
This video shows you my install, how to use it, experience using it and my comments if it works or not.
If you don't have Verizon or your carrier do not provide an LTE network extender you can buy an LTE network extender from link below (I get a bit of referral commission) - Thank you!

Thanks!
I have one of these units (free from Verizon after complaining about my service) and I found that the first time I had to restart my phone and that caused it to connect to the extender. Without the extender I got 1-2 bars of service and experienced dropped calls or calls that wouldn't even go through even using Wi-fi calling. With the extender, I get 5 bars and have never had a dropped call nor a missed call since. Also, without the extender, I was unable to send any attachments in a text but with the extender, they go out with no problem. I would recommend this 100 times over. I wouldn't live without one again. We have a home in FL with bad service also so purchased one of these on eBay and 1 bar to 5 there also! We weren't even able to use our phones in the house and were ready to change providers but didn't need to after hooking up the extender.
Instructions were right on top for me. Little box says "Let's get started"
Thank you. My wife and I just went through the same exact experience with this same device, and we have concluded this is an unnecessary device that does nothing to give us the reception we USED TO HAVE with Verizon. Verizon's reception has become horrible in the past two years. This is just more boxes and wires and....a satellite GPS?! Are we camping? Is our house going to begin walking through the woods? I know where my house is, why does someone else need to know where it is? I want the Verizon service and quality I had five years ago. Whatever they are doing now is failure on top of failure
Actually, the GPS is for network timing and handoff between sites.
Wow I thought I was losing my mind because for the past two years my Verizon reception has gone to shit and I never have 5G in most places. I’m considering a new network
@@Xemantic Verizon cell service has gone to hell the past two years. I don’t know why or how it happened, but they used to have the best reception and now they are either as crappy as everyone else or worse. Very frustrating
@@Xemantic It seems that as they increase network speeds to meet modern demand, it reduces the overall signal strength for people who don't live in big cities.
@@eddyd5684 Not the case here. I'm in Fort Worth and the last 3 months I've lost coverage on half of my property which is only 5800 sq ft (house and land total). They worked on the towers around that time. Great coverage until then.
I need this lte booster! My home signal sucks!
Tried on my own, got frustrated and gave up. Finally connected. Thanks for pushing through and posting.
Good review thank you
I am in the process of hooking up the booster now, no instructions. After looking around l found the instructions: they are on the bottom of a unmarked box that the device came in. You have to turn that box over and there they are.
I have this same Network Extender. Mine overheats, is that normal? I keep a fan on it to keep it cooler
Did you actually get fewer dropped or missed calls on your cell phone after the extender was setup? I get dropped calls often even with wireless calling activated and my phone indicates only one or two bars on my Verizon Wireless service. That's why I'm considering purchasing one.
Is this still working well for you DIY Geek? Would you recommend?
Do I turn Wi-Fi calling on or off while using this device. And more importantly, do I have my phone cellular setting on 4G or 5G using this device?
What is a CMP server?
Server. Certificate Management Protocol (CMP) is a Public Key Infrastructure protocol for managing X. 509 certificates. CMP is used between Certification Authorities (CA), Registration Authorities (RA) and End Entities (EE).
CMP is Certificate Management Protocol. It is a security technology.
Let me give you all an advice as an exverizon manager. Those network extenders the store carries them but they cost around $250 plus tax. You can call customer service and complain a bunch and eventually you will get one for free. Say that a store associate told you to call in about it. They will send you one for free. About 2/3 of the customer service are idiots so you might have to try more the once. Always ask them to please notate the account and ask for their name because it makes it a lot easier when other reps are looking for the notes.
PS the signal got really bad (along w/the whole company since they fired everybody for teenagers) ever since they cut the 3G towers. Some guy that was our vice president for 1 year put a bid on the worst 5G towers (tmobile beat us to the good once). If it rains, its couldy, windy, you fart or anything. You will lose signal.
Yeah, I had full great coverage in my house for approximately 4.5 years until 3 months ago. Part of my house now loses calls. Verizon sent me the extender for free. Just got it today and what a jank solution. I live IN Fort worth! I'm going to look at ATT and talk to neighbors about their coverage. It is my understanding if the power goes out at the house, then I better be in the part that receives coverage without the extender to have a cell signal? Is that correct? Not good if that is the case as if there is an emergency when the power goes down you better run to the part of the house that has a signal. Ridiculous for Fort Worth. Yes, they worked on the towers months ago.
I got a free network extender. what does error code 8 c mean?
Are you sure you was a manager ? Cause if u was you would know that Verizon got the 5G ultra wide band which is the highest 5G Speed however the waves of it it,s so sensitive that’s why if you have any big walls or something you will not get the waves in a correct way so you have to make sure about that , however customer service is giving the network extender for free if the customer meet the requirements of it not all the customers getting it for free from customer service however i was tier 2 tech support and I resigned cause of family situation so i know right now who i was handle with 😂😂😂😂
So what you’re saying is switch to T Mobile?
I’m lost. I did scan through your video but is it worth it?
How to connect phone
You research then collected 😢 but what should I do
I do not want LTE extender only. Your video saved me from buying this. Thank you!
Feel like you didn't really explain how it works. What is the antenna on the end of the cable for? Is it for transmitting or is it for receiving? Does the Verizon signal come from the internet or does it come from the device on the end of the cable? Where does the box need to be located? Is that the thing that broadcasts the Verizon signal into your house? Thank you for clarifying if you can.
It slaves off your internet modem not your cell signal. Internet goes down so does this junk.
It’s for satellite GPS for E911. To use these and offer them Verizon is required by law to have that antenna for it. Theoretically it should work without (T-Mobile has it too but if it can’t connect GPS it’ll still set up) Verizon’s will not unless it can pull a GPS signal.
Verizon had a much better coverage and speeds 10 years ago. It has gotten much weaker. I hope that its a temporary condition while they are improving it, but it has been weak for too long. I will give a little more time before I venture off to another provider.
How do you connect it to your device? Im using samsung s22 ultra. Any help is appreciated
I need help also same type of phone
but you don't show how you connected the phone to the extender.
But how did you connect the phone to the extender after you did research?
Need to power cycle the phone. Then dial #48
It’s on the little box. It’s got all the instructions printed.
So you have to have internet for this to work, correct? Why not just use your home wifi calling ect?
Exactly what I was wondering after seeing him plug in ethernet cable LOL
@@roylovell7it only increases the signal from the modem. It does not boost your cell signal .
I just installed this device. I now have 5 bars (very strong signal) and my phone isn't trying to connect to the garbage 5G (at 1 or 0 bars) anymore. I used to not get about 9 out of 10 calls made to me while on 5G or when on wifi. Now my cell gets all calls.
I complained just today and got one sent to me for free. They give them out if you escalate your complaint.
The directions are on the box that came with the power plug
you make a call and it will connect
It only increases your internet signal, not actual cell signal. If your internet goes down , so does the signal increase.
Internet signal? Signal increase if internet goes down?
I just ordered one for my lte home internet did I waste my money?
Is your phone 5G or LTE? most new phones are 5G. If your phone is 5G then LTE extender is probably a waste of money.
@@DIYGEEKTEXAS my home internet is 4g lte and so is my phone. I was offered this thing from Verizon customer support for my internet they said it will boost my signal and make my speeds better by a long shot
how could you waste money when it’s free
@@925kevina that was 11 months ago and I meant to type time lol
@@925kevina You can waste your time..
The booster needs to be hooked up to the router AND the outside antenna needs to be all hooked up First, then you will have 5 bars
If i don't have verizon for internet (i have spectrum) but have verizon as phone carrier...will this product work?
We do not have any land lines or any internet/ Wi Fi…. Why is Verizon sending one to us saying it will help our signal. Does not make sense????
more customers means the better the hardware the better the signal
Never explained how to connect it…. Nice only reason I watched this
there a DC power plug and and network cable to hook up.
directions are on a box, in the box
@@cliffscott2816 well directions aren’t clear which is why came to UA-cam to see “how it works” therefore “directions are in the box” doesn’t exactly help
I followed the instructions on the small box in the case and had no problem with connection and set up, that was my only point. I went from a single bar to 4 bars on my iphone.
I do not have the internet. I am not getting it either because i live in the country and the internet we can get is awful. Do all extenders use the internet? My service went to hell out of nowhere 3 weeks ago. Verizon is not helpful. They mentioned possibly sending me one of these for free. But i guess i cant use it, since i dont have the internet. This is ridiculous.
Well, it's not going to connect to a non-existent cell phone network out of thin air. You need a satellite connect if you cannot get internet where you live. One of the perks of living off the grid eh?
@@TAGSlays I have a cell phone network, but it is weak. I do not live off the grid, I just live in the country. Even in 2023 if you live in the country in the mid-west, cell towers are few and far between. I'm just looking to get better signal strength. I don't have the ability to get any internet worth a damn out here.
@@adammocaby2636 And that sucks man. But, the only way you will get better service is if they build another cell tower near you or you have some other way to connect to the network (internet). I would consider a Satellite connected VPN. Verizon and most other networks sell those too. Good luck!
This works all by himself or it needs an internet router?
Works all by itself. Your internet modem / router will remain the same.
Would this boost my Internet speed with more bars on my cell phone?
@@DIYGEEKTEXASwrong, this thing only works off the modem . It does not boost your actual cell signal.
@@ctb2814 This works with voice calls. Not sure where you are getting your information from.
@@DIYGEEKTEXAS think about it. If it’s boosting the cell signal it wouldn’t need the modem to operate. Buy an actual cell booster that does not slave off an internet modem.
Ive been experiencing problems with phone calls for 2wks. They sent me a 5g sim card and offered the extender. Hopefully my signal is better. I really dont want to use it. Made in china. Ugh....
The LTE extender only works with LTE it does not help if you are using 5G. You have to downgrade your phone to LTE to use this.
Just bought one...junk... no help R all! Keeps giving server error! I will be returning it tomorrow. Don't waste your time it money
Same - Had Server Error 5A and was not able to speak with a “human”, only could text and kept getting passed around by the bots. Finally gave up and returned it. The Verizon manager at the store could care less…..
Instructions are on the box
but who would he complain to if he took a second to think before crying
One VERY important side-note here...if you have more than one of these devices do NOT have them close to each other. This will cause one of the unit's built-in radios to become disabled, and will not re-enable even after a factory reset. Only the Verizon networking team can do this on the back-end (Ask me how I know).
If 2 of them get too close to each other, is permanent damage done? Or is it just disabled until Verizon re-enables it? Thanks.
@@brytoob No permanent changes, it simply disables the radio within the device. I had spent nearly a month trying to figure out what was happening to our devices until Verizon finally stopped ignoring my emails and had one of their Network Techs remote in and see the issue. They sounded surprised that it had happened. There's nothing in the manual that warns against having two devices on and near eachother.
Thanks so much. Still trying to figure out why any party on the other end of a call can hear me perfectly, but they sound garbled on my end. 5 full bars with the network extender. Tried different phones, a new extender, 2 different routers, I have 1 gig internet, nothing has fixed it. Tier 2 is stumped. @@omnitech6103
I have a question. Verizon sent me one of those to replace my very old version 1, saying they're no longer supported. The person on the other end of any call can hear me perfectly, but their voice is distorted on my end. Tried 3 different phones, 2 different new extenders, same issue. Verizon tech support doesn't know anything about the settings (MTU backhaul... there are a lot of settings). I can't believe the version 3 can't be made to do what a version 1 can. Is there anybody you know of that I can speak to who could tell me how to use the settings to make one of these new ones perform like an old version 1? They re-activated my old one and it's working perfectly. But I'd like to use the newer, faster version if I could get it to work. Thank you.
I do appreciate this video. I got one for free also. Because I needed to order a new jetpack/hotspot, took three days of calling. They offered to me. I told them that the only internet I have is them. I live off a hotspot with 150GB a month. I don’t have anything else. So I got a useless box 🤦🏻♂️
They really don’t understand living in remote areas like the north woods. Hoping to set up Starlink this summer. Then maybe get some use from it. Till then it’s useless to me.
Im trying to figure out why verizon would give me this lte network extender for free if they also know im using their 5g home internet as my internet service.
From everything i can find online these two services are not compatible.
I mean having a free $250 desk toy isnt a bad deal but why?
Hi did you have any luck, I'm having trouble getting a good signal with the internet box

Actually that’s all this is . This guy is full of crap.
If i need internet to use this why in the world would i need it...... unbelievable Verizon is horrible

The video title is totally misleading and (at best ) crappy. You don't describe ANY technical issues about how it actually works. It should be called "I know almost nothing about this item but I want to generate more content for my channel so I'm going to make this almost useless unboxing video and hope nobody notices that I'm wasting their time as I'm just opening the box and stumbling through the set up without any preparation or forethought"
I found this video very informative.

Once in a while there is always somebody like Jo Tu who complains about everything. LOL
@@innovativitga4705 Yet somehow my comment has ALREADY received 4 thumbs up (1 per week) by random UA-camrs. I am going to go out on a limb here and say that IMHO your IQ must be a lower number than the person who made the video. If that is so, I beg you to never produce any UA-cam video's yourself.
Maybe jo tu is right! Mayne you have no sympathy for us to whom this doesn't come natural
I gave a thumbs down bc you don't show HOW to connect the device. No one does! This is very frustrating bc no one will tell me how to connect. I shut down my phone and turned it back on like another video said, and it doesnt change anything.
As long as you are in LTE mode, it should automatically find the signal extender. Then you can confirm at the signal extender how many devices are being relayed.
@@DIYGEEKTEXAS I have Verizon, and the extender is brand new. I've called them 3 times about this, it sometim3s will connect and then just disconnect. By that I mean, the display will say "1 device connected" (we have 3 in the house) and then next moment say "0 devices connected ". And nothing changed in devices or where they are.
@@kaystarigenericlastname5274 This network extender can only serve a house about 1500 sf. It does not have a very strong range. I believe the maximum distance probably about 30 - 40 feet from the LTE network extender.
You can do a #48 and it will connect.
Im getting a call failed with #48
you should really be in the phone with the verizon people when setting things up because you cannot be as dense as you come off in your video about load times and the processes that the unit does.. In this instant gratification world things aren’t always immediate and you should take the hands off approach and hire someone to do this stuff.. or your one of those people that complains about anything and everything.. always the guy at the restraunt trying to get a free meal when everything was fine.. just admit it your never happy and it shows based on how you communicate during this video.
This device is a waste of money. Verizon uses someone else's wifi to keep strain off there grid and when you try and make it a closed network, verizon has it where the confirm button does not work so your neighbors will be working off your wifi. Buyer beware!
Not true. You literally need to have the extender activated on your account for it to work. Only your activated phones will work on it. Stop running at the mouth.
TY, ranjeredge03
I figured something was fishy, I mean they are using my fast internet that I pay for over $100 and downgrading my internet speed for the benefit of Verizon. In that case in need to be compensated for piggybacking on my internet to boost their signal.
If your internet goes down this junk doesn’t work. It does not increase your cell signal, it only increases your internet from the modem.
