Had the same problem with new outdoor security lamps my farmer friend put in next door. The PS was potted as well but I was fortunate enough to be able to completely suppress the noise with two small toroids on the AC and 48 VDC lines inside the fixture. Now if I could just permanently fix his electric fence that keeps the cows in...fortunately he's good about fixing it when "Mr. Sparky" comes out to play! 73 - Dino KLØS
One more good video Steve. I have the same problem with my wall-to -wall neighbor, so the noise it is very strong on my antennas. Fortunately, they are located in the bathroom and only disturb a few minutes, and are also installed in another room that is hardly ever used. We have discussed about it and he will let me change them as soon as I can. When the noise hits during a contest, I know it's time to "pit stop" for a few minutes.
I think this might be what's interfering with my scanner that's decoding apco25 on 142 mhz.. As soon as it gets dark and the LED street lights come on the decode rate goes to s**t.. More testing is required.. Great video!
I just added a LED light bat to my SUV as the projector headlight lenses are the worst in the industry and dangerous to use at night as you can out-drive them. The LED light bar works well. Now I have noise in my FM radio where I am unable to listen to a fringe FM signal in my car radio. I will now try chokes and capacitors to see of that helps as I have many on hand. If that doesn't work well, I will add the various power line noise filters available @ various radio parts suppliers.
Great.... glad that all worked as planned. MeanWell will now be your channel sponsor and best corporate bud! Glad to know of a switcher product that isn't terrible! de VE6JY
I have this exact noise, I think it's a convenience store nearby. They have bright lights in the window that I think are on 24/7. The noise is there all the time. I'll confirm they are on during the day and see if they will work with me on fixing it at my expense.
Greetings from England! Nice video, thank you. Right, question for you: I'm using my IC-705, AH-705 and CHA MPAS 2.0 in the garden, and every so often, normally mid-afternoon, on the waterfall, dozens of giant vertical lines appear, on all bands, and 20 metres is literally all yellow! I'm only doing FT8 for now (I'm a slow learner) but I want to know what the source is... I'll try your trick, can I use a 2m/70cm antenna I normally have on my FT3DE or do I need a specific "AM" antenna for fox hunting? In advance, many thanks for your time. 73 de Manny-2EOHJN
My LED equipment mfr referred me to this video when I complained about a loud hum introduced by two small light strips I added in my RV. Unfortunately, I'm not an RF expert. I could understand how RF noise could contaminate my AM or FM reception, but not how it could show up on the ceiling speakers from clean TV audio cabled directly into the AV-IN jack of the radio. I can guarantee it's not the power supply because there is none-the LEDs run directly off the RV's 12V service. The TV shows no noise whatsoever, but it runs off AC; all the noise is on the AM/FM/AV/DVD unit, which runs on DC. Could something (maybe the dimmer switch) be injecting noise back onto the power feed, and the audio unit picks it up?

Too bad you stopped there. I was really curious to see why exactly did it radiate noise, and to learn more about RF noise elimination in switchers.

Thanks for your help with the analysis Don. I sure was happy when I plugged in that new PS and there was radio silence!!

So this MW driver brand does not emit RFI as the old LED driver did?
I bought the same driver you used but am puzzled by the input wire colors ..how did you connect to a plug?

How far was this church from your antennas?. Very nice troubleshooting.
The church is only about 200m from the end of my EU Beverage, but about 700m from the shack. I could hear the RFI on the 9 circle RX array 700m away.
