Steele Stadium reminded me most of the way I used to play as a kid on the navy base where I lived despite being its exact opposite; we had a weird grassy triangle behind some of the houses and I remember there was this old shed with chain link around it that made a ridiculously short left-foul fence but straightaway center was almost unlimited. Just the wildest spaces you can imagine.
Here's something else I just found out: It's much easier to clear that right-center field wall in Casa de Pablo than in Dirt Yards. If you land it on top of the balcony of Casa de Pablo, it's a home run.
steele stadium always reminded me of the shed in Huntington Avenue Grounds. just classic baseball goofiness. this is the list and analysis the world really needed.
Lukewarm Take: Tin Can Alley for me is aesthetically very pleasing actually for the type of environments the game was trying to create and would rank actually much higher for its visuals- but it is still the worst field to functionally play on by far. Same for Sandy Flats, and depending on your playstyle and taste it might even be worse than Tin Can Alley.
Glad you started out with that diabolical stadium and got it out of the way. Not only is it the worst backyard baseball stadium, it's their worst sports stadium period. Curse whoever made it.
Definitely an influential game for my childhood, as well as I'm sure so many others. I got introduced to the PS2 version of the game. Then I learned about the OG versions. Damn. Fantastic content as always Kofie.
It would be awesome to see you do stadium rankings for the other backyard sports games. Also i prefer Big City Stadium as my favorite, although I'm pretty sure you nailed the top 3 perfectly. Really the whole list was done well.
The thing I love about this game so much is how many little spots in certain stadiums I'd want to nail with a homer. The garbage truck pool and shed in Steele Stadium, the puddles in Sandy Flats, the car and corner wall in Dirt Yards, the jumbotrons, over the barrels and down the left field line in The Paveway, over the big wall in Playground Commons, etc. etc. It almost becomes a game within a game, a goofy little homerun derby mini game where you hope to get that one meaty hit over the big walls, or the perfect drive into the puddles, and see who can do it and who can't. And also, real ones know Mikey Thomas is the true baseball GOAT. Pablo can do it all, but Mikey is the best bat bar none. They need to check that kid's bat, I've been saying it for years, I KNOW that little shit is corked up and I DEMAND PROOF THAT HE IS USING A REGULATION BAT. The BBL has ignored my concerns for OVER 20 YEARS and if nobody listens to me I'm going to break his bat open one of these days in the middle of a game to prove to the WORLD that I'M NOT CRAZY.
Only baseball i play is Mario Super Sluggers and Mario Superstar Baseball. Its because of the gimmicks in the game and the stadiums. I love sports games in general like that.
I am most definitely in the minority here, but I LOVE Tincan Alley. It would turn any game with any players into an absolute crapshoot. Appreciate your insights on the game tho, lots of memories here my dude
While I respect your opinion on Sandy Flats regarding speed, it takes a cold man to look at that teeny tiny left-field porch with the short (non-existent?) fence and not get excited
Also another thing about sandy flats. Is no one gonna question how one of the characters is Kenny Kawaguchi and yet sandy flats still exists 😭 that kid is in a wheelchair how the hell is he supposed to get around on sand?? How was this fair
I'm incapable of seeing this game and not immediately remembering Ryan Creamer pulling a Moneyball with this game 😭
when that creedence clearwater revival hit 🔥
What I really like about Ernie is he's good at fielding
Steele stadium is by far the best. Short home runs to center off the shed plus the pool home run animations... bangerrrrr
Can we see a retrospective on Pablo Sanchez's career now?
need it.
this def needs to be a video.
Pablo Sanchez likely broke the all time MLB HR record in just a few seasons, while also playing PG in the NBA and RB in the NFL.

I feel you Kofie because I too rather talk about Backyard Sports than the Indiana Pacers

So its the FedEx Field of Backyard Baseball. Got it
Now this was a what I subscribed for, none of the meaningless “basketball” or whatever they call it
I never thought I would see a list for this. And I am here for it!
Definitely an influential game for my childhood, as well as I'm sure so many others.

This game was influential
omg this IS the content I needed that I didn't know I needed.
Anybody play the version on Gamecube? If you hit a home run that landed in the water in every park, you unlocked a secret stadium in Atlantis.
No way that's freaking sweet
FYI, Pablo did not get a boost for playing at Casa de Pablo (not that he needed one).
This is the content we crave

NFL Street stadiums?
Great shout

peach washed, yellow shyguy face of the league
Steele Stadium was my home stadium at every single season I played. So cool.
0:40 missed opportunity to quote moneyball

Real ones know Pablo Sanchez was the goat 🐐
Backyard sports games were freaking awesome
A true classic
Also for tin can alley. The damn plywood board ( left center) would get in the way sometimes and cause the ai to forget how to pick up a ball 😒
I just watched this whole thing.
I've never played any of these games in my life.
I'm not even American (thank God).
Coming in before i watch, thank you for putting Steele Stadium at the top.
Dirt yards reminds me of hey arnald❤
Would love to see one of these for Bayckyard Basketball and Football as well
This is the kind of content that I enjoy watching, thank you sir
These are the debates that we need to be having
great vid hope we can get the sponsors with transparent backgrounds instead of black rectangles
Sandy Flats is bottom for me. Any slow players on your roster and it's hell. I actually don't really mind Tin Can Alley, oddly enough.
@kofiewhy are you still playing this game today? if so how did you get it installed? I wanna play these games so bad. These were my childhood!
How did you do it Kofie
Oh man, gotta do some of the Super Mega Baseball stadiums.
Can we please get a video on the Magics off season?🙏
While I respect your opinion on Sandy Flats regarding speed, it takes a cold man to look at that teeny tiny left-field porch with the short (non-existent?) fence and not get excited
Tin Can Alley theres no homeruns
Achmed Khan: allow me to introduce myself 😏😏
Also another thing about sandy flats. Is no one gonna question how one of the characters is Kenny Kawaguchi and yet sandy flats still exists 😭 that kid is in a wheelchair how the hell is he supposed to get around on sand?? How was this fair
I just seen an article saying these games will be back soon
Theres such a lack of arcade baseball games at this point. I just cant do the show anymore. I dont have time.
Super mega baseball still exists, it's solid but not crazy arcadey as it doesn't have power ups and such
hell fucking yeah let's go
Love you kofie
Day 1 of asking for Trajan Langdon vid
Someone didn't play backyard baseball 2005
Sup kofie, how's it goin
