My mom and I are the two people in the family that really get into the decorations for Christmas. We sorted everything last year and ended up dividing the boxes between both of us (with new storage boxes too). I have a grand Christmas color scheme that harkens to my childhood: gold, silver, red, green, blue, and purple (purple due to the multi color Christmas lights). The decorations include things from both of my grandmother's and my childhood and it makes me happy. My mom decided last year to trim her share to snowmen. She loves the green tree with snowmen and white and blue. ❤
I´m excited for Christmas. One of my most favourite piecees of decor is a cute wooden angel. She has a wooly hat and a present in her hands and cute pig tails and she looks a lot like me. (So she´s very sweet. *lol ) I love her - have her for many years - even had to glue her wings back on twice! My decor is mostly neutral (white, wood, mercury glas) and a hint of blush (ornaments). I don´t plan to buy any new decor this year. I´m looking forward to your decorae with me video! Hugs!
You are really good getting ahead with your Christmas decor and planning. I love the nutcracker theme. I don’t have a theme, but I am only going to be decorating my 6ft tree in the big through lounge/dining room. I put it on a table and decorate the base with cut glass bowls full of seasonal fruit and nuts (still in their shells) and Christmas sweets which we slowly eat over the twelve days of Christmas. The tree has an eclectic mix of ornaments, baubles and bells on it. I have collected one or two new ornaments every year which slowly over time replace the baubles. They include femo-clay mother Christmas and Father Christmas decorations, a femo-clay Christmas penguin, gold cherub angels, two stuffed toy reindeers one silver and one pink, icicles and stars, a gold treble clef, two crochet skirted choir boys, there are other ornaments too but I can’t think what they are at the moment. Then there are open pine cone sprayed gold and silver. Plus silver, mauve, gold and blue baubles and also big red bells; it is all topped off with a gold star. The tree is pre-lit with optical white lights which can stay on or flash in ripples. Our ceilings are 12 ft tall, so I hang a twenty year old red tinsel garland across the room from the ceiling light in lounge side of the room to the light in the dining room and then hang folding lanterns with Santa’s inside at intervals so they hang down, and then I hang little mirror ball baubles from the wall picture frames and string clear lights around them too.
I have a gingerbread theme in the kitchen. I have a small tree with gingerbread and candy ornaments and photo ornaments of the grandkids that I add to each year. The rest of my house is more natural with pine garlands. I know how much you like birds and my tree has many bird ornaments on it. I hand painted a ceramic nativity almost 50 years ago and i still set that up. My Dad made the stable. ❤. I’ve simplified much of my decor but I still love what I have.
Its so easy to get swept away by all the beautiful new holiday decor. So I think this is a wonderful idea to unbox all your holiday treasures early so you aren't as tempted to over buy! The hedgehog is my favorite and the basket with the silver and blue balls is beautiful! All your decor is lovely!✨🎄✨
It IS fun to go through our Christmas decor and revisit what we have again. About 3 years ago I decided to use the vintage ornaments that were sitting in boxes in our basement for almost 30 years. They belonged to my husband's parents and I also had some from my parents. You know the ones I mean....the very delicate ones!!! Well...I have LOVED it and now use them each year. Our tree is so beautiful and very nostalgic!!!
always green and red for me as it was my mother before me. berries, holly, pine, fir, red velvet , white lights , robins , reindeer, and I have 3 different red cars with trees on the roof depicting my 3 sons coming home for christmas frankincense (non toxic to cats) in the diffuser. wreath with long red ribbon on the door Job done ✅ I love your ideas and traditions too Karen. can’t wait to see you dress your house. 🎅🏼🎄
No tree in my small flat. I have old traditional decorations, mainly in red. Most important for me is hanging stars with small lamps in, in the windows. Since most of the daytime is dark here, it's so important to bring some light into the world! I also put most of my other decorations on the window sill.
What I want to find is a glass bulb menorah. I have had a white LED one before, but the light frequency gives me migraines. I also can't do candles, so we'll see how it goes. Hanukkah is late this year. It starts on Christmas and ends January 2.
Fun to see your decorations. We decorate the weekend after Thanksgiving with no special theme. Then at new years I switch out Christmas for snowmen and snow flakes, blue and silver on the tree. It can be dark throughout January so it is nice to have the lighted tree and winter decor yet through part of our winter after the Christmas holiday.
I am up to going my Tidewater theme this year with a western Alpine. They are somewhat feather tree shaped. I would rather not but my grown sons are asking since I could not do one last year. I am simplifying greatly, I gifted out all but the highly treasured items. I planned simple menus and have begun my Zone cleaning and my slimmed down holiday schedule. The all natural Fall decor has joined the compost pile. We have snow coming in for the next few days. Loved to see you having such fun with your holiday decorating!
Great video. I like to theme rooms too - Scottish Tartan in living room, Scandinavian in the conservatory, snowmen in the kitchen and winter wonderland in the dinning room. Can’t wait to get them all out at the end of November 🎅🏻🎄☃️
Hey Karen! That was a lot of fun. Yes! Now I am excited to decorate for Christmas too! I put up a tree and I guess I would say my colors are classic? Reds, greens and some gold. I only decorate for this season, so it can be really fun. I feel your excitement too! Oh and Great outfit you are wearing today. You look great! 😊
and i've decided to do same tree, white tree, white lights, red cardinals and Scandinavian wooden red & white ornaments. and i have other 50's type decor. i wish we could do pics, i dont do istagram.
You are on fire getting prepped for Christmas!! It's so nice not to have to buy new things. Definitely work on those wreaths or any craft projects ASAP! We keep it pretty simple, the tree was white lights with ornaments in cranberry and champagne. We are adding lights to our porch this year...need to purchase still.
I massively decluttered my place several months ago and have adopted a fairly minimalish style. I’m not sure what I kept. 😂 My colors are turquoise, navy and jewel green.

Gingerbread is so hot right now!
The idea of wrapping your wall art like a Christmas present is so creative! 💝

@ThisMainerMom , our 17-year-old's suggestion. She's our youngest and a graduating senior, so I was happy to oblige. 😀

It all sounds so wonderful, Jeanne!! We don’t seem to have any snow in the immediate future!

I do theme rooms too. I shut the front curtains in November and my husband says we have the big reveal where the trees are up and the curtains open!
It is exciting seeing your ornaments again! You have lovely decorations! It will be fun to see them all up!!❤😊
I can’t wait!! 😃🎄

It's still a bow. I was decluttering this year. It has so far involved buying 13 new garlands and about 40 picks...
I massively decluttered my place several months ago and have adopted a fairly minimalish style. I’m not sure what I kept. 😂 My colors are turquoise, navy and jewel green.
Beautiful colors!! 🤩
i dont do red n white elf on the shelf, creepy. but i do have an elf, 1950's and a santa. and a couple of "putz German" houses that put under tree,
Love Christmas but not sure i like the nutcrackers- some of them is a bit scary...
Take care❤
I can understand that! 😃
Your Basement!
It’s a mess too so soon will be a basement clean!! 😳
@@ThisMainerMom It looked fine.
It must be my eye sight is getting worse than I thought but I looked on the description section but couldn’t find the Amazon account link
As far as I know yes, all the christmas tree shops went out of business.
Not sure why but nutcrackers creep me out.
Likely those mouths!! 😂
We do know that jesus was middle Eastern and olive skinned even if we do live in the uk
Yes, I thought the history lesson was condescending.
I would think if you're Jewish, it's for Hanukkah. If not, it's just blue, white, and a touch of silver decor?
