Gear fourth is unique has 3 forms and is designed for bulk strength, enhanced speed and elastic durability. Oda is really a genius thinking how this gear works. retracting rubber is super strong when released

luffy is the only one of "the big three" anime main characters that never went rage mode on someone. He always had control over his powers.
Thats not true that only counts for his devil fruit abilities but whats with his conqueror haki he had some rage moments where he just used conqueror because of emotion

Its been said that Luffy couldnt use future sight the first time he fought Kaido because he was enraged after seeing his crew get "killed". I cant remember if it was explicit stated or assumed by the fanbase tho.
I mean,there was that one celestial dragon who shot Hachi. I think you could call that rage mode lol. Anime turned into manga for a bit there XD

For those that wonder Rhino Schneider refers to a large artillery cannon used in world war 1. Luffy uses some form of weapon for nearly all his attacks, such as pistol, gun, rocket, Redhawk (a type of gun), gattling etc

@@JKoo-ph4cd After some research "Red Roc" appears as a play on words and is the gear 3 version of Red Hawk.
Since Red Hawk also refers to a bird of prey, not just a gun type - a "Roc" is actually a GIANT legendary bird from mythology, which matches with Gear 3.
Coincidentally It could also be that his hand looks like a giant boulder or rock, since rock & roc are written the same in Japanese.

@@ChemiiOneLegacythe red roc is actually a technique specifically named to deal with Kaido, as Rocs are mythological birds that PREYS on dragons. So it was a claim from Luffy that he was stronger than Kaido 😂
Fun fact: non-haki users aren’t able to see the color of haki or haki in general. So the red arms and flames and dark circles around luffy can’t be seen by the civilians. They just see regular luffy but fat and bouncing, that’s why they were all like “what the hell.” When he came by.

Haki in general (armament, observation, conqueror) are invisible even to us, but armament one of its applications is “hardening”, which is the black color, and it’s visible to everyone, including haki and non-haki users, to prove it nami managed to see luffy’s haki in gyojin arc when he fought sarame the kraken
@@Other-Az fat bouncing Luffy is the peak of head cannon. I saw a pic of Gear 4 Liffy without the black and red armament haki colouring. He looked absolutely ridiculous and I refuse to accept otherwise

Yeah, very crafty of Oda, introcuding G4 and right away telling us that fruits have a second stage of power, basically telling us that G4 is not actually that strong in the new world. and it delivered cuz vs Katakuri normal G4 was pretty trash NGL, even G4 SM would have been trashed if not for AOH.

I've always found it interesting that all of Luffy's moves are named after some sort of gun/weapon.
He always used to say to shanks my punches hurt like a rifle pistol bullet ect once he ate the fruit he just used them into his attack

I watched the gear 4 reveal with my friend who is going through One Piece completely blind and he thought it was so sick. What I thought was cool though, was how there were other people watching who don’t watch One Piece but everyone laughed and smiled at the way Luffy was fighting in gear 4. I think it shows how Oda is a genius who’s been setting up Luffy as Joyboy since the beginning of the series because Joyboy is said to unite people through laughter, even while fighting. Luffy has always made people laugh and root for him before we knew that was the whole point to his character.
That’s why Oda is such a genius and I can’t wait to find out what One Piece is because of it, it made Roger’s crew laugh and cried at the same time, I believe it must be something incredibly touching, silly and simple.

Because when it comes to activating Gear Fourth, Luffy bites a Haki coated arm to blow air into his body while expanding his bones and muscles, essentially turning himself into a big balloon. Once this process has been completed, Luffy can reconfigure his body through the use of Haki

first episode gear 4 was awsome. Gear 5 had the hype but was disappointment in comparison.
I think G4 is the ‘worst presented’ gear..
I mean, let me explain: G2 was amazing, and that first fight against Blueno was great af. That speed, with the logic of ‘pumping up the blood’ was such a cool power up.
G3 was so misterious before the first time.. It was just hinted. So strong and so strange in the firsts -not showed- uses… But when it was revealed it was shocking how simple it was. Lucci even laughed at it, but after take the Giga Pistol, he understand how powerful, and slow, it was. The first ‘double-edged power up’.
But G4… It comed so ‘out of nothing’… I mean, G2 and 3 were made cause an fcking admiral kick Luffy’s ass… And G4… For some biggy animals? Really?
Whatever… G4 had some great with some WTF moments in his presentation.. So strong but so…not understandable.. I mean, Wtf with Culverin? Wtf with that looking? The akuma no mi shown in his body? The smoke permanently around him in the same position? The ‘armament’ not beeing hard but rubbery… WTF

I don’t dislike it, still good..but the others gears were shown for the first time way better. With better explanation in how they worked…

I am guessing you are an anime only fan. Patience, everything will make sense in a few months. The smoke, the attacks that don't make sense or the reason he can take these forms.
In the manga it has been explained in anime soon it will also g4 was not for big animals , the big animals made luffy realize that he was a small fish in the ocean full of monsters specially the war he was in made him understand that they werent the reason for it but they were the trigger including the war , it was made for these big fights he was gonna have in new world
