Kenneth did you get the same model Kenwood DMX 7704S? What was your total cost at Best Buy. Was going to buy the unit and install one myself in my 2006 Corvette but if Best Buy will install it for nothing I am curious what they are getting in Total Cost. Thanks for any info.
Cool thanks for the video. I am in the market of upgrading my Camaro 2015 2SS to a C6 and definitely want to upgrade the head unit and get a backup camera. Once you have one, it is hard not to and to get apple-play would be a huge benefit. I am pretty sure even the new cars with Apple-Play require USB connectivity.
I know... I completely forgot to do that in the install. But I have actually enjoyed having the phone put away in the console. It keeps me from messing with it while I drive (phone + manual = pain) . I have everything through Carplay, works perfectly!
I wish you would have talked more about the sound and sound settings and compared it to the original Bose sound. Does it have more bass, more treble, loudness control etc.
For my C5, I ordered the MP3 adapter thing from DD Mods. Easy install. I never could figure out to run the MP3 player so I took it out and put it on the shelf. Factory BOSE system in the C5 is pretty horrid, but we don't buy Vette's for the radios :) My Grand Sport has the factory NAV system in it but I'd like to add a sub. It's ok for factory, nothing you're gonna jam out to tho. Great video! I really like the dark/light titanium interior! Pro Tip, re-edit with Benny Hill tune :)
Yea Dennis was great to work with! He sent me all of the harness and cables together. I believe that included the Bose module but I cant 100% remember! It is for sure a great mod! Thanks for watching!
The Bose module is the device which allows you to use the factory amplifier to power the new head unit. Without the Bose module, you would need to replace the stock amplifier with an aftermarket amplifier.
Great video! I have two quick questions: 1) What kind of double DIN adapter did you use and buy it from? I've seen some that look super stock and they are flush on the dash, but I've seen others that look totally like crap. Yours looks great! 2) The wiring and harnesses on the stock head unit has nothing to do with the wiring and harness on the new aftermarket head unit. What needed to be done and what adapters or wire mods we're done to connect the stock wires and harnesses from the car into the new head unit?.. and how do you even know what the wire does what, and is what, and connect to where? Also do steeling wheel audio control buttons interlace also with the new unit? Thanks for the info and congrats on the awesome new stereo!
Michael Mushi I purchased the whole unit already with the adapter on it. The adapter was super simple though. All you had to do was connect the wiring harnesss ends to the adapter then the adapter went into the jack in the dash ( you see that when you remove the head unit). This model comes with everything you need to make it flush, as if stock. That’s one of the reasons I chose it. Everything worked great on the steering wheel, volume and change song/station.
Put a kenwood in my c6 a year ago and i had it installed by a professional. Love the look of the screen and android auto. Its been just over a year and the radio cuts out and it loses usb connection on a regular. I have a pioneer in my van. Its a much better unit. I have a Sony in my pickup i had it for seven years with less features but has been very reliable. Im very disappointed with my kenwood.
Thinking of replacing the factory navigation system in my 2006 C6 Coupe with this Kenwood unit because this unit comes with Apple Car Play and is equipped with Bluetooth. You have yours in your car now a little over a year. Do you still think highly of this unit? I read elsewhere where someone installed this unit in another C6 and said it was hard to see the screen during the day. What’s your take on that?
I absolutely recommend the unit. It was a HUGE improvement over the previous stock unit. It was a bit harder to see if direct sunlight was on it. However it was manageable. Really my only issue that I could find with it so I nit picked. I actually no longer have the corvette, I just recently purchase an Audi R8 in its place. Good luck!
@@douglassharif8722 I installed this same Model Kenwood DMX7704S Receiver in my C6 and the very next Model DMX7705S up in my C5 back then when I inquired about it here. I asked about it in I believe 2018. You are right it is hard to see them well if Sunlight shines into the car on either models screen during the day time but just about every head unit I experienced with a screen during the day time with Sunlight hitting the screen seem to be the same way to me. Other then that both models that I own are pretty much second to none. I even installed one in my daughters 2007 Mustang in 2019 and my everyday Merc. Not sorry a bit that I did. Kenwood makes great receivers.
ffas23 I purchased the unit from a guy I found through the corvette forums. Dennis from Double D mods. He sent the harness that just clips right to the wiring harness. Very easy and for the most part fairly straight forward.
Yes. Call or chat with crutchfield I’m using a PAC RP5GM11 plus a crutchfield harness (130.00) makes it almost plug and play but there are other options. This topic is covered extensively on corvette forum.
Got mine. Best Buy free installation took only 45 minutes. Love it!
Great upgrade for sure!

DNX574S loaded total about 1K. Worth it to me.
I am assuming 1k with amps and speakers. Because I just put a 574s in my Cadillac two weeks ago and paid $479 for the unit.
I like Kenwood because they are the only ones that I know of that come with the Garmin GPS which I really like. Great addition to your C6.

Does it sound better than factory and was the wiring harness pretty easygoing thanks and it looks awesome
more cabin heat from a screen unit, more distraction, does it atleast have 7 band eq, for listening quality
Dude, you can run that lightening apple cable up the center counsel and through the first cup holder
I know... I completely forgot to do that in the install. But I have actually enjoyed having the phone put away in the console. It keeps me from messing with it while I drive (phone + manual = pain) . I have everything through Carplay, works perfectly!
Which wiring harness did you use?
I wish you would have talked more about the sound and sound settings and compared it to the original Bose sound. Does it have more bass, more treble, loudness control etc.
How did you install it without having any speaker static noise? I recently installed an Alpine IL 650 and have major speaker static

How about giving us the parts you used and how to get them!!!???
Sorry!! I purchased mine from a seller named Dennis. He owns Double D mods. I added the model number in the video info!
What was the model number of the Kenwood and does the camera come with it?
It’s funny how people say BOSE like it means something, in the audio industry there is a saying, “no highs, no lows, must be Bose”
Did you retain the stock speakers? I just purchased a 2005 vette with nav unit is definitely dated. Speakers seam to be ok? thanks
Did you need a harness to retain the steering controls?
Where did you get the wireing harness for it
hey i connected my kenwood but i hear a static sound in the speakers is there a way to get rid of it?
Nice post. Like the 2 tone interior as well. Can u go thru it's EQ features?
there all 2 tone interior stock, except black interior obviously
Did you install the Bose module? I worked with DD Mods for the DIY Kenwood install on my C5 Vette. Best mod yet.
Yea Dennis was great to work with! He sent me all of the harness and cables together. I believe that included the Bose module but I cant 100% remember! It is for sure a great mod! Thanks for watching!

Does your wheel volume control work with your new Kenwood radio?
Funny, just ordered mine... thanks...

@@FullThrottleDrive where did you get the complete kit? Did it also allow use of steering wheel controls on radio?
do the base and the steering wheel control work?
Kenwood VS Pioneer for C6 2013 head swap? Some say the Pioneer AVIC NEX units are much better (plus pioneer backup cam).... Any thoughts?
I think the Pioneers are great, but cost quite a bit more than the Kenwoods do. I believe at least.

I install one of these units in my C6 and it's very hard to see the screen in daylight.

Hey man, great vid!!! What head unit was this is called??
I added the model number to the info screen!
Can you play a movie on the road?
Yeah and watch movies while driving
2:05 soft hands...better use a plastic pry bar to lift that
Can u still control the unit with the steering wheel controls?
I am pretty sure you can, as long as you get the proper adapter like the PAC RP5-GM11
What is the Model Number?
I added the model number into the video info! DMX 7704S, Sorry!
Hey guys! btw what kind of interface did you use? thanks
sorry just saw your comment! What do you mean by interface? The software is just what the Kenwood comes with
Best buy had lnterfaces for the unit and the one I got fitted perfect
One other question. Although the video went so fast it looked like you pre-wired the head unit before you installed it. Am I correct?
ffas23 I purchased the unit from a guy I found through the corvette forums. Dennis from Double D mods. He sent the harness that just clips right to the wiring harness. Very easy and for the most part fairly straight forward.
Did u have to buy additional harnesses ? Best Buy told me I have to buy like $200 in harnesses..... Please help....
Yes. Call or chat with crutchfield I’m using a PAC RP5GM11 plus a crutchfield harness (130.00) makes it almost plug and play but there are other options. This topic is covered extensively on corvette forum.
I got mine from best buy also and yes you will have to buy additional harnesses for about $200 dollars
Check on Ebay
Sorry I had to thumbs down your video. I'm trying to replace my radio and your video is useless to a DIY'er trying to locate the screws, wiring
PAT DOWNEY seems pretty unfair when the title says I installed a Kenwood. Not How To Install a Kenwood...
I kind of expected the same but understood what you were doing. I was looking for information on how to interface the Bose system.
Apple play? Hahaha it's called CarPlay
Ricardo Mateo Estévez Balvin lol I know. But actually most people don’t know that so I call it Apple Play so they know what I’m talking about
