  • Making a custom guitar. It has a walnut neck with an ipe finger board, the body is poplar with a padauk slab top. It's chambered with an f-hole much like a Tele thinline. I think I'll call it a Telebird, or maybe a Firecaster. Here I show how to make a brass guitar nut from scratch.

For safer freehand grinding as shown in this video it is imperative to set the tool/work rest up close to the grinding wheel face. A gap such as we see here can easily pull the workpiece and your fingers into the wheel.
Work smart. Keep your body parts to work tomorrow too.

I'm so surprised ipe isn't used more for fretboards, I can see why on body's or necks no one likes a 40lb guitar lol but if you find nice quartersawn pieces I got a bunch from a decking job off cuts and if you polish them up to 2000 grit and rub on a coat of tung oil which is the only finish I've found that can penetrate that wood, you see all kinds of figure pop out and the color makes rosewood look like shit

What kind of adhesive would you recommend for a brass nut? I was thinking either superglue or wood glue.

I LIKE THAT BRIDGE BUT I THINK A VINTAGE BRIDGE WITH COMPENSATED BRASS SADDLES WOULD FIT THAT BUILD, IT WOULD MATCH THE BRASS NUT. JUST MY STUPID OPINION AND WE ALL KNOW WHAT THEY SAY ABOUT THOSE.
