I live in Brazil and we have seen an increase in "alpha male" videos. I watch it from time to time to laugh at the nonsense they talk, but the videos here are bizarre. They really treat women like an object, an accessory, as if they live for the benefit of men. It's not even funny, it's kind of scary and sad.

RIP to all of the brain cells I lost while having to listen to these “alphas males”… I don’t know what’s worst:
-That these people actually have influence over young men (especially those that’ve felt like they haven’t been fulfilled in life yet)
-That there are women that will enable them to act this way (usually from having low self esteem and feeling like these losers are the best they can do in terms of finding a partner).
If you’re thinking about being with a self proclaimed “alpha male” that holds these primitive beliefs, you can do better. And if you’re a man and getting life advice from one, you can do so much better. These are the types of guys that can’t maintain meaningful and longterm relationships. And if they do, they’re often toxic (and sometimes even violent). You will never be content if your partner if the metrics used to determine her worth are imposed upon you by a guy that sees women as objects for gratification and procreation.
And to wrap it all up, people can (and should) have friends of varying sex/gender identities. I’m a bi male yet still have friends that are women, friends that are men, friends that are straight, and friends that are gay. Men don’t all share this one superficial motive when forming connections with others. And you should never underestimate the importance of developing lifelong friendships.

They discover what definition of success and personal development they themselves want for their lives and follow that notion with confidence. And this is incredibly attractive not only to women but to anyone who sees a man who is sure of himself and comfortable with his emotions and his choices.
These men who push themselves to be seen as "alpha males" show nothing but their blatant insecurity, and their need for external validation from other men, because they can't find that validation in themselves. there can be platonic friendships between male and females. i have male friends so does my sister, yet no one likes no one more than on a friendly basis.
My friend group since college is me, two girl friends, my now husband and a male friend who is in a committed relationship with someone outside of the group. I don't get this mystery around platonic friendship, not every hetero man is going to be romantically interested in every single hetero woman and vice versa, but people can still be genuine friends. I feel like we've all known this but these idiots who don't see women as humans have been spreading the idea that this is impossible.
I found out a old friend had gotten into these alpha male podcast things when we hung out for the first time in three years. Went from a lovely (if somewhat bad hygiene) geek into a unpleasant (still smelly) geek.
I expected to have fun and nerd out with him, but he sat me down and tried to make me watch these alpha male podcasts on yt with him about how they expected women to be, when I told him I hadn’t come all that way to sit there doing that he got all aggressive with me, insisted he wouldn’t be paying for dinner (I didn’t want dinner I was having dinner with another friend and had already said this) or activities. He told me ‘the common variable of your friends killing themselves is you’ and that it was ‘women like you who are destroying that traditional gender roles and directly contributing to the rising number of male suicides’ when I pointed out that I was not a good digger / I yelled at him and he found out I made more than 3x his yearly income. I had in fact been planning to treat him to crazy golf and had already paid for a reservation.
Despite making it obvious that I was done hanging with him, he proceeded to follow me to where I was meeting my other friend - trying to be all funny and sauve but not once thinking to apologise. He’s since tried to contact me but still not thought of apologising. “Alpha men”.

About the platonic friends debate, I've grown to realise that in general woman believe in friendship between sexes because we are thaught to look for personality qualities while men are thaught to look for fisical qualities ofc because of the patriarchy. Men have engrained so much self hatred into me. I am midsized, some guys might call me big. I have been in fear of gaining weight in relationships forever. In fear of this happening. I will never allow myself to be comfortable. I have had times where i started relationships with a guy and immediately stopped eating because I was afraid he would leave me for a thinner girl. I 100% agree that platonic friendships between different sexes work out. I’ve had a best guy friend and many other guy friends for many years and we are all JUST friends.
Half my friends have always been male and we've never felt attracted to each other, yes that goes both ways, we see each other as family (10+ years of friendship and still going).
Maybe we are outliers tho I've heard is not common to maintain friendships for so long or having that many (my group has always consisted of at least 3 close friends, 5 other friends and then their friends I just get along with).
I've also started thinking is younger people or the ones that have not socialized with both sexes extensively beyond romantic connections that usually think is impossible
