Inside of a blueberry is like purplish red right? I don't know I agree with Kyde's statement that blueberries are a waste of fruit. I can just eat a mango or strawberries or something else thats actually tasty.
I am one of those foreigners who never liked Natto. Tried it a couple of times but could never get over the smell and the texture. I always wanted to visit Mito. Such a historic city.
Kyde and Eric It's snowing here in norfolk England😆. Are you hoping for a white Christmas too? Are you going to do the kfc Japanese thing? Bluberries are green on the inside...i think, white? I've never seen a white inside if a blueberry. Btw way had a katsu curry kit but I had no eggs for it to stick, it half worked with oil and flour lol but I bet it's really good from a restaurant.
Here in New Jersey where blueberries were first domesticated they are NOT white inside. Our's resemble marmalade tinged with red. As for flavor, pop one of these Jersey berries and you get intense toe curling bluuuuuuuberry. So we must assume the Japanese variety has been sanitized of all wild vulgarity.
I don't know how many times I've watched your awesome videos, I've lost count. thanks guys! And just so you know: Norwegians blueberries are blue/purple on the inside :) (And really small)
Always love the nature aspects to all your videos. I hope the two of you visit the forests in Yakushima in the near future. Those forests are what inspired Hayao miyazaki to create the forests in Princess mononoke. I’m sure the two of you would enjoy it. Unless you’ve been there already.
I also love the fact that you guys explore different cities, towns, and places that foreigners don’t typically see or hear about. It gives me a whole new perspective.
Yea, we really try to hit up places that haven't been covered to death by other people making videos. Well, sometimes we do. I'm editing a video for DisneySea right now, hahaha. -E
We had slides like those at DZ discovery zone in Kentucky. It was like a giant indoor play place for kids with ball pits, slides, and indoor jungle gyms to climb in. The roller slides always pinched your skin as you went down.
Ahaha Eric you said "foilage" again. Sorry, it's just cute and makes me laugh. I feel the same about blueberries and blackberries though, you guys probably won't be in Sweden in the right season but their blackberries are top notch. I really want to try natto now! Gonna have to put that on my food bucket list. Love seeing how much fun you had on the Turbo Wedgie slides xD
Hey guys, you can use a bottle half filled with water (or beer) and place it on your dash when determining the cars level or you can hang a string from the mirror with a wait on it.
Great video! as always, a pleasure to watch. I'm not sure if anyone has asked you this but how much is it to rent a van like that? Is it cheaper than a normal car?
I wonder if the flowers that you didn't get to see because of the rock concert was Hitachi Seaside Park. If so that's really too bad. I wanted to check it out the last time i was in Japan, but didn't have the time. I've heard its pretty excellent.
By the way... 17:44 Konnyaku is a root vegetable from the "devil's tongue" plant. It's in the corpseflower family of plants where the flower smells like rotting flesh when it is in bloom. It's got a strange glucomannan starch in it so it is surprisingly low in calories.
Dudes! There are white-inside blueberries, and purple-inside blueberries! Two kinds! (The purple ones are a Northern European strain, and they're in North america too.)
Okay Eric, challenge accepted. Sometimes the inside of a blueberry is yellow, and sometimes it is a purple or blue, but I think that is only in the case of them being frozen or processed.
Granted everyone has different biochemistry/neurochemistry and substances do not always cause the same response from one individual to another. It's just too bad that you don't enjoy blueberries because I find that they actually give my brain quite the noticeable cognitive boost.
Good to know and good for you...I wish you better tasting fruit in the future. The blueberries I consume literally taste like candy at times because they are so sweet and their flavor(they are clear to blueish inside)are absolutely to die for IMHO. To eat their own...I mean to each their own ! Fresh, frozen or dried they all just make me sharper and quicker when it comes to tasks of the mind.
Yeah the blueberry flesh is colourless or sometimes a little bit red-purple. Virtually all their colour is in the skin, and they're not even blue but a dark purple with a powdery skin that makes it look blue.. Wild blueberries are far better than farm raised, certainly the kinds that get set up for commercial production. Where I live is where the blueberry came from. The wild bushes are maybe 2 feet tall, tops... and the berries have a much more pronounced flavour. In any handful you pick however, there is a dud. So something like 15% of them are tasteless for some reason. One can buy wild berries at the farmer's market when they're in season, and you can tell because they're smaller and have a wider variation in skin colour.
About food, I pay attention to what makes it the good stuff. 😋 I was going to be an academic at one point and do have a degree in biology... with a specialization in botany.
I know this video is old, but Norwegian blueberries are purple inside :) We have what we call "american" blueberries in our stores that are white inside as well, but I don't really like those...
Maybe they didn't build the elevator all the way to the top because they are afraid the mechanism would be more likely damage by the water or the mists.
Road trip!!!!🤗 that is what u call a rolling wet n wild ride..🤣🤣..u should call the cute van Miyakuu, btw what guide book u use..lonely planet? N what guide do u recommend for a week vacation in japan from tokyo n beyond..thks i bet a road trip with u kids would be the best time goofying around..😋😎kyde is like nop, im not jumping, the closes I have to that is the chicken i just enjoyed..🐔🤣😂,do u need to have a special permit to rent n drive in japan?..imagine if that donkey changed into the lama u met..🤣😂😎
You need either a international permit (easy to get in the states from AAA) or a Japanese licence to drive here. We use Japanese travel magazines for these trips inside of Japan, but you'd need to be able to read Japanese to get much out of them. We just get them at book stores here. Otherwise a combination of Lonely Planet and the internet could get you a pretty solid plan built. -E
No wonder you don't like blueberries, those type of blueberries are not good. You have to try wild blueberries, they are small plants and are red/purple inside with a very different texture and amazing strong taste, more like cherries.
Yeah, TIL what we call blueberries (literal translation) here in Sweden isn't the same thing as what the rest of the world call blueberries. They're actually called bilberry in English, or European blueberries. They grow in low-growing shrubs, are much smaller and are, as you say, purple inside. They're also full of flavor. It's a different species apparently. I was thinking that those are some mutant ass Japanese blueberry shrubs and was questioning my sanity when seeing the white color. I'm 30 years old and I had no idea.
Hahah This is another thing they should try when in Europe apparently. I've seen those white ones when I was a kid and they were not good at all. I am 30 as well and I've seen the white ones just once :D
Guy's, if you thik that is reel blueberry, you are out on slippery is ! That you are picking is American gene modified product's! Reel blueberry from Europe is up to 30 cm high smal bushes growing in the woods! Harvest reddy in middle - end of july and august. The color inside is deep purple to lilac, sweet if it has been sunny and warm! There must bee wild blueberry both in America and Japan in woods! The reel blueberry bush levees could bee used as tee! BarbroSweden
Ewwwww natto... I am in side of Japanese people who hate it, my sister would say I'm not a real Japanese for it😆 but seriously cannot get past smell and slimyness 🤮 now blueberries different story ♥️ would love to try sweet ones that taste like pie or cake 😋
+suki N Are you from East or West Japan? I've been talking to friends and it seems people from Kansai, Kyushu, etc typically don't like natto, but people from Kanto, Tohouku, etc do. -E
Kyde and Eric yea I am a mix I suppose, my mom is from Osaka and my dad from Yokohama. They both like it thou... 😒 I think I'm the only weird or sane one! 😁
Are you guys ever scared about murderers when you're sleeping in the van? There are many cases of people sleeping in their cars, but were murdered. Be safe :(
+TabbyAngel2 Haha, not even a bit in Japan. It's incredibly safe here. We were more cautious when we spent a month traveling in our car in America though, that's for sure. -E
You know the video is going to be amazing when it starts with "we got a van."
Inside of a blueberry is like purplish red right? I don't know I agree with Kyde's statement that blueberries are a waste of fruit. I can just eat a mango or strawberries or something else thats actually tasty.
Lol ha did not know they were white.
It's white/clear inside, the skin looks blue, and dyes your fingers purple.
omg the slide part XD Kyde screaming while Eric follows her on what seems like a conveyor belt just slayed me lmao
I am one of those foreigners who never liked Natto. Tried it a couple of times but could never get over the smell and the texture. I always wanted to visit Mito. Such a historic city.
Thanks, ya'll. More Japanese prefecture videos!

Kyde and Eric can't wait. Have to work through the holidays, as usual, your videos will help a lot.
We are going to be in Sweden for Christmas! I guess that raises our chances of whiteness!
One of my favourite series on your channel been waiting for you to do another one of these. Love your videos
I love new video day! Thank you for sharing your lives and experiences with us!
That slide, LOL!!! OMG that's crazy!
I don't know how many times I've watched your awesome videos, I've lost count. thanks guys! And just so you know: Norwegians blueberries are blue/purple on the inside :) (And really small)
12:20 sights and sounds must be nice with the waterfall!!!! And 14:27 man that was a big fly or what ever that was!!! 😮
The roller slides were so funny! I was cracking up haha.
Cant wait for pt.2 ohh and blueberry pound cake is godlike
Awesome video, looks like a great adventure!
I thought that fly at 14:30 was in my room. Watching on my phone... scared the shit out of me.
One word WOW! This channel is this best about Japan!
Thanks!! Enjoy the video! -E
Oh a van-tent-adventure! I love these. Its been too long :)
We have this trip, and then one more filmed and on their way! -E
Another awesome series! Sucks that you couldn’t go to everything you wanted, but what you did get to see was amazing!
Glad you enjoyed! -E
Hey, you hit 40,000 subscribers 🥂🎉
Hey guys, great video. The green mochi/dango is usually Yomogi (Mugwort plant)... Also also it could be Matcha.... but usually Yomogi.
Always love the nature aspects to all your videos. I hope the two of you visit the forests in Yakushima in the near future. Those forests are what inspired Hayao miyazaki to create the forests in Princess mononoke. I’m sure the two of you would enjoy it. Unless you’ve been there already.

Went to disney sea when I was in japan in april this year. Definitely need to hit up the regular tokyo disney park next time.
Love the videos! Keep it up!
Will do! -E
We had slides like those at DZ discovery zone in Kentucky. It was like a giant indoor play place for kids with ball pits, slides, and indoor jungle gyms to climb in. The roller slides always pinched your skin as you went down.
still love the long vlogs! keep them up :)
Will do! -E
Ahaha Eric you said "foilage" again. Sorry, it's just cute and makes me laugh. Good luck with natto! -E
Light green, clearish
Yeah i tried my Bunjee in Minakami(Gunma Prefecture) , so thats my first and the last one.
Sliding in pjs! "I feel like I need a doctor now" good times!
Clear inside!
Hey guys, you can use a bottle half filled with water (or beer) and place it on your dash when determining the cars level or you can hang a string from the mirror with a wait on it.
Haha, good idea! -E
white/clear watery with a green seedcoat
Wow, another one! keep them coming!
Will do! -E
Great video! as always, a pleasure to watch. I'm not sure if anyone has asked you this but how much is it to rent a van like that? Is it cheaper than a normal car?
+Robin Wolfe It's actually about the same price as a small car, but when you factor in that we use it as a hotel too it gets pretty affordable!
there went some serious designing work in that van hehe
you have to do the elevator thing going up, too, so you feel like you're flying :)
I wonder if the flowers that you didn't get to see because of the rock concert was Hitachi Seaside Park. If so that's really too bad. I wanted to check it out the last time i was in Japan, but didn't have the time. I've heard its pretty excellent.
Yep, thats the concert. -E
By the way... 17:44 Konnyaku is a root vegetable from the "devil's tongue" plant. It's in the corpseflower family of plants where the flower smells like rotting flesh when it is in bloom. It's got a strange glucomannan starch in it so it is surprisingly low in calories.
I’m with Kyde. Bungee jumping ? I’m good. 🙅🏻♀️
you guys can download a level app on your bots to try to level the van with next time!
20:45 Nine months later.... Kyde finally caught her Aiyu Fish...
Thats some weird blueberry there! Our blueberries are purple inside.
Dudes! There are white-inside blueberries, and purple-inside blueberries! Two kinds! (The purple ones are a Northern European strain, and they're in North america too.)
Paused, the insides are greenish clear
I'm Japanese. I grew up in Tokyo, but I've never driven in Tokyo, so I think you have better driving skills than I do!
Driving in Japan is way less difficult than most everywhere else, haha. -E
That's were I'm going in just a few days.. Ahhh
Nice! Enjoy!
Kyde and Eric Thank you, I will!
Did you guys go on a similar slide a few years ago? Great video.
Yep, we mentioned it in this video. It was better. Haha. -E
Okay Eric, challenge accepted. Sometimes the inside of a blueberry is yellow, and sometimes it is a purple or blue, but I think that is only in the case of them being frozen or processed.
*Watches the berry reveal* Whaaaaat? Today I learned blueberries aren't the color I thought they were.
CARDBOARD! You need a little piece to sit on for max speed. In Okinawa we'd sit on our zori and speed down those things! =)
There's a slide in Michigan like that, it has lunch trays with handles for the bum.
Haha, that'd help.
wish we had a link to the faster slide, gonna take me a while to find it.
I don't remember exactly where it was either, haha. -E
My Grandma had a blueberry tree in her backyard. I had to race the birds to have just one.
Tough, birds are fast!
Oh I'm going to bring a waterproof pillow to use on that slide.
Granted everyone has different biochemistry/neurochemistry and substances do not always cause the same response from one individual to another. It's just too bad that you don't enjoy blueberries because I find that they actually give my brain quite the noticeable cognitive boost.
I get down on blueberries daily! But they aren't the best tasting fruit, I'll totally admit that. -E
Good to know and good for you...I wish you better tasting fruit in the future. "my butt is bare on the rollers" 😂😂😂 I just had a laughing fit alone at the gym..... some strange looks

About food, I pay attention to what makes it the good stuff. 😋 I was going to be an academic at one point and do have a degree in biology... with a specialization in botany.
"We got a van" oh here we go! :D Also noticed you don't seem to use the usual intro clip to your videos anymore :( Are you moving away from that?
Just trying to trim the videos down in different ways, it might be back sometime. -E
LOL Eric nad Kydee discover Vandwelling in japan . .step one, get a white van for they are the universal stealth camouflage of tradesmen :)
6:12 I guess those slides make life easier for Japanese school bullies. Free automated wedgie assembly lines.
I know this video is old, but Norwegian blueberries are purple inside :) We have what we call "american" blueberries in our stores that are white inside as well, but I don't really like those...
You mean FREEDOM BERRIES?!!
Kyde and Eric 😂😂😂😂
Maybe they didn't build the elevator all the way to the top because they are afraid the mechanism would be more likely damage by the water or the mists.
Best part, Kyde's wedgie. Eric got all up in there with the camera. I ain't complaining.
So, then that's a no go and a no no on traveling with the nato ?
Yea, it needs to be chilled to stay "fresh." -E
It just hit me, Kyde reminds me so much of the character "Holly Flax" from "The Office".
"Alright....I'll take it" - Kyde (-E)

The inside of the blueberry are light grey and blue ish 🤔 I think
The wild blueberries in my backyard in Massachusetts was a grey-greenish jelly kinda color.
That stark white looked insane!
Are they GMO-ing?
Or how about "were"...verbs are fun.
No idea on the production, other people have been suspecting it's just a different type of blueberry.
Eric, I liked the video, but what happened to the intro song?
Just taking a break from an intro song. Trying to find inspiration for a different style of short introduction. -E
I noticed that the steering wheel is on the right side of your van ....do the Japanese drive like the Brits on the left ?
+A.G.Fisher Yep!
Old Japanese lady...Queen Cassiopeia !
Ibaraki, Kanada
Is the inside of a blueberry just clear? Like if you peeled it you'd just be left with a transparent glob of gelatinousness
Aw :( I've unpaused and discovered I've failed
25:35 That guy looks like he's bare ass bungee jumping.
did you say daigo?
The green dango is from yomogi leaf, not green tea leaf.
Blueberries are white inside!
You cheated, right?! Haha
purple!
No wonder you don't like blueberries, those type of blueberries are not good. You have to try wild blueberries, they are small plants and are red/purple inside with a very different texture and amazing strong taste, more like cherries.

Violet/pink
how did eric lay flat in such a small van?...
They are just long enough! -E
Do Japanese cats speak cat Japanese? Like would my cat understand a Japanese cat?
American cats say "meow", but Japanese cats say "nyan." Your cat would probably need to do some studying. -E
"seen some kind of famous people..."
...and in come the Patreon credits.
Okay. My video is paused. I've seen the inside of a blueberry before, and it's definitely clear. Unpausing now.
WHAT.
Hahahaha
And he's got big balls,
And she's got big balls,
But we've got the biggest balls of them all!
The inside of a blueberry is a deep, dark purple.
That blueberry thing is a Mandela Effect.
Red!
5:24 lmao....!!!!
You ask what color is a blue berry it's purpley
Haha, oh yea? Those were white! -E
white
I say the inside of a blueberry is black my guess
13:40 Eric loves Jeff Rosenstock
Yes.
Where did you get the Worry T shirt? I can't find it on his web page.
Saw him live last spring in San Francisco! -E
Its like vanilla like color I think lmao
The ting goes Brap Brap Pew Pew. Van’s not hot.

Clear flesh with purple juice.
Are you guys ever scared about murderers when you're sleeping in the van? There are many cases of people sleeping in their cars, but were murdered. Be safe :(
TabbyAngel2 not a problem in Japan 😊
+TabbyAngel2 Haha, not even a bit in Japan. It's incredibly safe here. We were more cautious when we spent a month traveling in our car in America though, that's for sure. -E
Kyde and Eric ok good to hear :p
