I don't think the Blue Jay knew either till it accidentally ate bits of it while grabbing the seeds. It seemed to grow on it till it really dug in to the banana proper at the end.
I never heard a jay make a warbling sound like that before. The rest, yeah I have. Territorial calls, and maybe a mating song or two. This fellow is very talented and has taken a fancy to more than a few songs in his life.
Blue jays are great at making a wide variety of sounds and theyre very smart. If they know what a hawk sounds like and there are other songbirds near a feeding spot, theyll mimic the hawk to scare off the songbirds so they can get the meal to themselves!
That sound is actually part of their "whisper song". I imagine that they whisper to each other when they feel safe, happy and content! I just love blue jays, such a beautiful, intelligent and interesting bird! Thanks for yoy blue jay videos!
Thanks, yes Blue Jays are such characters - the ones up in the NC Mountains have some different vocalizations that I don't hear in Florida and they have this lovely melodious sing-song call that I never hear down south: ua-cam.com/video/X8zHROkXQpU/v-deo.html BB
Thanks for posting this. I have given up feeding our bluejays peanuts because grackles and crows have been stealing them all. I can't wait to try this. WRZ Delaware County, PA metro-Philadelphia
I didn’t know they liked bananas. I’ll have to try that one as I’m out of peanuts and their not happy about it. I swear they start yelling at me when they see me and there isn’t any peanuts out for them. I love the Bluejay sounds.
I have a Jay that calls for me with very distinct calls. I love the monkey sound, but I have yet to find any Jay video with one making a frog noise. I have a very cute and comical jay that literally sounds froggy. Blue jays are so funny!
At 1:23 that is the unmistakable sound of a Red Tail that he is doing. I noticed that they wipe their beaks like chickens do when they eat. Do all birds to do that??
This Blue Jay could be imitating a Cooper’s Hawk, which makes that exact, same monkey-like sound. Either way, this Jay does sound like a monkey, and it’s funny how this Jay is doing it while eating a banana. 🍌🐒🐵 Also love the Cardinal in the background. Thanks for sharing, MBB! 🤗❤🐦
Hmm. Exact same kinda blue jays I got, similar sort of sound types but still sounds different. is there a regional difference between the noises they make?
That Blue Jay is one happy bird. Whenever he takes a few bites, he is thanking you for leaving him such a sweet and ripe banana. He is making different types of sounds in euphoria.
Nice video, The Blue Jay, is a very nice bird. I got some at home and they like peanuts, corn, etc. I Subscribe to your Channel to see your next video. Have a nice day.
Jays used to be loud where I am from (Jax) when I was younger in the late 70s. Nowadays I barely hear them anymore. They are here just not as vocal....or maybe I’m just not listening like I diid then?
Funny thing about these kind of videos; when the bird leaves, I think it's over, and I start looking for another video to watch. Then I'm confused for a second when the bird comes back, before I realize I'm just watching random bird footage and not a scripted movie
That was a very vocal Blue Jay. It really loved that banana. Who knew they loved bananas so much.
I know 🤣
I don't think the Blue Jay knew either till it accidentally ate bits of it while grabbing the seeds. It seemed to grow on it till it really dug in to the banana proper at the end.
I love blue jays, so much fun, especially when they trust you. They put peanuts in my neighbors gutters.
A blue jay made that sound in our bird bath!
Oh my what a gorgeous red cardinal at the beginning !!! Exquisite.
Andrea McBride I know right!?
CenturianEagle Reckon !! Amazing little guy.
I think he is calling his mate saying, "c'mon and get some! It's awesome!" 😍😇😇😇😊❤️
It’s like he was calling other animals to come get some before he eats it all 😂
That s what I keep telling to my wife..he calls his chummies
Blue Jays are remarkable
Blue Jay like 'Phwoar!! What's this?! How cool! Look what I found! Free food! My lunch is better than your lunch!'
Alternate title: Margaret is scared of Mordecai because he makes monkey noises
No, that's Red from Angry Birds; Margaret is a robin (a Red Robin, specifically), not a male Cardinal.
My Jays make sounds like that all the time. Lol I love birding
Did you see how fast that cardinal hauled ass when the blue jay rolled up
😁
They know how big of asshole blue jays are!
That Jay was loving that nana. You always come up with the best footage. Thanks again.
Glad you enjoyed it! BB
Love it when they wipe things off their beaks.0:30
I like the rusty pump sound.
MisterNinetySeven I had to watch a second time to listen for that sound. The perfect rusty pump sound! Thanks for pointing it out.
MisterNinetySeven that's my favorite too
How do they make these metallic sounds?
I had around 3 blue jays that laid eggs in my trees going parallel with my driveway around 3 months ago
@@2degucitas they are tiny little feathered robots!
Can't call this guy stingy..he did all he could to alert the others to come get some but nobody listened so Bon Appétit Sir BlueJay

@@matthewtrebs9738 I wonder if other Blue Jays know it's the Blue Jay making these sounds. I hear a Blue Jay calling back.
You might have and just didn't know it was a blue jay
I heard one made the gurgle sound the other day for the first time. He was eating
We get beautiful birds in New Zealand, but I love the colouring of the blue jays and cardinals.
I hear "ribbet ribbet" 😂 I have a whole clan of them in my backyard and they usually do those type noises when they're excited
Bugger off Red! This is Blue Territory!
THE MOST BEAUTIFUL COLOURED BIRD. HE APPEARS TO BE TELLING HIS KIN OF HIS NEW FOUND DELIGHT. BANANA

breadandcircus1 Well he doesn't like bananas lol
haha my cat was at the window watching the blue jay outside and then she did the same
Probably wanted a piece of that bird. Or maybe the whole thing.
@@dlg.studios5649 My cat has never been a outside kitty so he wouldn't know how to catch one. The instinct is still there even so.
Thanks for posting this.

Guess it's peanut time! 👌
Very nice! Who would have thought to give them bananas? I can’t wait to try this with our birds!
I'm using bananas that have gotten too soft - wish I had thought of it before!
@@MyBackyardBirding Thanks, I'm in!! Hopefully my 80 yr old Ma left that last banana! I'll put it out menyana. Cool! BrandyF from West Texas.

A Cardinal and a Blue Jay, my two favorite birds. Poor Cardinal got evicted by the Jay though lol.
Lovely Blue Jay Friend! Thanks for sharing the video with us.😎👍JP
CATBIRD in upper right hand corner cussing at the Jay😂🤣
Pretty sure that's a Cardinal.
Wonder if that's some sorta cat call to impress the ladies? Let them know of his new found food source? 🐦
That's funny , making monkey sounds. You made me laugh. Enjoyed you're video. Thank you.😄
stella Crowe didn't know blue jays could do that anyway
Hes so cute 🤣
At 1:23 that is the unmistakable sound of a Red Tail that he is doing. I noticed that they wipe their beaks like chickens do when they eat. Do all birds to do that??

Yes, it's called "feaking"

I wonder if he was shouting out a warning or a welcome for others
I think he was calling for the other Blue Jays to join in!
This is sooo mush beautiful ! We do not have Blue Jays in Germany . Have never seen. What kind of seeds cover the banana ?
That Jay's name is Mikey and he likes that banana, I wonder how he is with Cheerios?
I like blue jays dispite never beeing able to see a real one (they don't exist where I live)
they also constantly remind me of someone xD
Who exactly do they remind you of? Are you thinking what I’m thinking?

Eastern Ontario here. Definitely a difference between mine and the ones in your video, that's for sure.
I used to think it was a rusty closeline that made that sound lol Edited to include a thank you.
