We've been doing it just about as long, never called it dump cake though. We usually just toss 1 quart of home bottled peaches in the Dutch oven with a box of yellow cake mix and a can of 7up 👌

Use allspice instead of cinnamon and some nutmeg. Id also add some fresh raspberries. Yum!

I'd add a pinch of cardamom and nutmeg to the peaches and make a scone/biscuit topping or fresh cake batter.
