Using low samples or viewport/shaded mode to test out scenes, lightning & timing is one of the best tips mentioned in this. Even after upgrading my pc I still use this approach to test/optimize before upping the samples.
Honestly! I could not think it was a 3D animation until you started showing how you created these scences. Sir these scenses are the most realistic scenes I've ever seen. what really stood out to me about your short was that it wasn't because of one factor that brought it to life, it was everything, it was the scene composition, story telling, sound design, video editing, post processing, etc that made everything feel real and apart of our world, sure not every model was the most photorealistic as it could be, but even if it was that still wouldn't have brought your short to life, it was everything coming together and the balance between that. I think that is something that i need to learn how to do since i usually get so caught up in trying to make everything so perfect and so photo-realistic that at the end the day im never satisfied because the other important factors like composition and story telling were negelected. Unless the person is using some wild level of detail / scene sizes and running out of detail you can get the creative work done, a shitty laptop/potato pc would be one that was much worse (e.g using integrated graphics or having 8gb of memory) I should probably clarify that I know that rendering the complex scenes can be more demanding than just UE5, but you can do the design and creative work using a budget computer before using a rendering service if you need the super high detail. exactly, the potato computer is way more underpowered. A potato laptop (not even a pc) is way worse. It would have the fan all time high, the laptop would be too hot, even editing a youtube comment can be lagging. He can't have potato laptop in his tittle. He is clickbaiting in a sense. Although, in a 3d animation perspective which wants 4k rendering, the machine will be underpowered. But my father is a professor and he does all his mathematics and analysing flow, physics in a dell inspiron 5510 with a good i7 and 8gb ram. That is not a potato laptop. The laptop I use, i3 7th gen with 2 gb ram, that is a potato laptop. 4GB dedicated video memory is not a general potato laptop. It may be potato laptop for the blender purist. But the title is not that specific.

"The enemy of art is the absence of limitation." - Orson Welles I think about this a lot with making. Using incomplete systems, slower hardware, tools that aren't designed for what you want out of them. I think those things can bring out deeply interesting and rewarding outputs. Optimisation is always going to be something you have to do, there is no PC fast enough for you to work however you want! I think this is actually the main difference between beginners and professionals, how much you automatically use more optimal workflows by default. Keep pushing yourself beyond what you expect to be possible! You'll be amazed at how far you can go. PS. your potato laptop would have seemed incredible to me when I started with my on-board intel graphics, dual core 1ghz cpu and 1GB RAM 😂
Hey man! Congrats on finishing the film, it looks great! Gonna definitely watch the film. You mentioned William Landgren as one of your inspirations, but he doesn't operate within the hardware restrictions as you do. Keep up the great work, its very inspiring.

BROOOO THANKS FOR GIVING ME A GOOD IDEA ABOUT A SHORTFILM ..... STILL LEARNING BLENDER THOUGH GONNA FINALLY LEARN IT AND MAKE IT ...... BIG UPSSS BRUUUUU
You could've probably convinced me all these shots were real, and even without faces it's insanely hard to do that with hand animated humans, so massive props on that! Also some tips for noobs: 1: For any physics objects, go into the physics tab in the properties editor and click "bake all dynamics" so it saves the would-be result of the simulation in a cache, which will run in real time and be less exhaustive and exhausting. And then with any changes, you just delete the cache and bake it again, but your computer won't be trying to calculate cause and effect every single frame 2: it took me months of changing rendering from CPU to GPU to realize it wasn't actually doing anything because I didn't set up GPU settings in the preferences. You might have to research compatibility with your card and Optix and Cuda or whatever but it cut my cycles frame renders from a minute down to five seconds with my graphics card 3: probably a small and single purpose deal, but if you have a ton of objects with the same physics settings, group them all into one object with one physics modifier and turn on "self collision"
@stache_obj happy to do it. Been at this for a year now, and I don't really have anything good yet, so I figure if my knowledge isn't being utilized yet I'll just tell other people what I know when I can

Ignore all the problems and do something fantastic. Thank you for making this video, I really appreciate you, how you did? It really makes my day. God bless you. ♥♥♥
just a few days back i started learning blender. I have watched like a couple of videos, and at last learning from "Ryan King art" beginner Blender tutorial, and like last night i started using HDRI and that's where my I5 8th Gen, 16 GB RAM used its 100% capacity till the time it was rendering. So i thought this is the limit that i can push it to. but watching your video, have given me a hope that yes it can be done. its just instead of 30 hours it might take 1.5X time or 2X time of yours, and I am agreed to that. So thank you
Well done on your short film, mate! And thanks for the inspiring words to not just make excuses and give up on projects. Keep working and sharing your work.

Oh man, this gave me so much courage to complete the projects I started. I even upgraded my system with RTX 3090 and 13400. Nothing to hold me back, except lame excuses. And great work. The girl and skateboard shots really got me. I thought they real videos.
Hell yeah man. I give you all the courage you require to finish that unfinished project. Amen
Man this video hyped me up to get back and do 3D after 3 YEARS! thanks man a needed a little push
Hell yeah. That's so inspiring to hear man. Lezzgo
A computer with a GTX-1650 is not what I'd call a potato computer.

exactly, the potato computer is way more underpowered.
This is indeed low
I tried blender with 2GB VRAM and it’s lags a lot even with 20GB RAM
That’s when i learned CPU and GPU is very important
I own the same laptop and was schocked when I saw you created this Film with this laptop.CONGRATS
bro doesn't know what a potato laptop is 💀a potato laptop is one with 2 GB ram and no dedicated GPU and a core 2 duo you had a good laptop my guy
A pinned comment just for you my frind
Stumbling on your video right when I was waiting for my laptop to find my GPU that ramdomly isn't recognized! Your results are crazy and full poetry!!
So good, looks almost as if filmed through a cool fuji camera
That was the vibe I was going for
Gajab bhaisahab!!! Wah wah wah 🎉. . I am sure with such quality of works, some company will surely send you one of their latest machine 👍
'Gajab' is all I wanted to hear brother 😂
The film is amazing but also your work and storytelling on this entire video is top-notch! Keep up the great work!
Appreciate it my friend
this is so eye pleasing😩
I clicked in this video without knowing what is Blender, now I'm shocked that wasn't filmed by a camera omg THIS IS INCREDIBLE
Dayumm. I'm humbled
omg you've inspired me.. as someone from Texas who just experienced the most miserable summer drought,.. i want to do something similar but with Autumn... various autumn themed shots. some cozy. some cold and lonely. shots of orange and red autumn hues, overcast skies, etc
I'd love to see that. Plz do
Your video was randomly suggested to me, and it was something I needed to hear. So many times I open blender, delete the cube make a plane and then close it. I think coming up with a plan before hand and working through the challenges is part of the process that I need to sit in longer. Thank you!
Happy i could help in whatever lil way
Thanks bro thanks a lot for the inspiration!
Searching for 'short film blender' I found your video. And you got me interested from the first moment. Great message, well spoken and fully agree. Also love your work, it looks superb. Instant subscribe. It was indeed inspirational. Especially the part that even big budget films still struggle with the same limitations, only scaled up. That was an eye opener. Keep up the great work!
That's wonderful to hear. Glad to have u here in the 3d community. Now godspeed to you
This is exactly what I'm doing to complete my short films too.... Good to know I'm not alone.
Another potato farmer I presume
Ajtak meine India me isse achha animation/cgi sayad hi kabhi dekha he. Trust me bro it's daaamn good work🤯
Appreciate it my man
don't care about people fighting over that "potato laptop"... but man the short movie and this video is fire the meaning the process like everything is so amazing! Well done 👏
Appreciate it my man
This is Inasne!!! Those detail filtering, shaders everything is up to professional mark!
This was such a good video. The short film was amazing as well.
Appreciate it dude
I legitimately thought that this was real camera footage, yes I did read the title, a very well done to you sir.
Thanks man. Mission accomplished if thought that was real footage
It was not until you started explaining everything that I realised all the shots were made in blender!😮😮😮😮😮😮
I'm 9 seconds in and I paused - This looks freaking GORGEOUS! What the heck???
Hell yeah man. Thanks a lot for saying that. A lot of blood sweat and tears went into it
Dude your voice is super soothing >>
Asmr channel coming soon
Your optimism and passion is contagious. Nice job brother
Oh I'm so glad you think so. I felt like I went too hard on the optimism in this video
@@stache_objno, it was just right 👌
This is really inpiring, and tbh I feel sometimes like this but is kinda good that we are not alone. I believe a lot of artist went through this kinda of problems. It helped me a lot to listen those wise words while checking at your stunning work. Thank you!
Amazing stuff man! Inspired me to think of ideas I didnt know was as possible as you've shown in this video! Keep doing your thing
I experienced the same Thing with My Laptop , its soo overwhelming , but there are ways to Cut the Road in these cases
I started learning blender with a Intel HD4000 IGPU , But having Passion To Make 3D stuff really made me going
actually, the whole video feels exactly like my story, cause i give the same reasons and for coincidence i have the exact same laptop and i did used blender for smaller purposes, always used to think it cannot handle if i start something big, it inspired me to do something new and thankyou brother
Glad I could help brother
"The enemy of art is the absence of limitation." - Orson Welles
I think about this a lot with making.
Beautifully put.
And who else better than erindale to teach that to us ❤️.
PS: ngl i read that whole thing in your cool and calming raspy voice.
Hey man! Congrats on finishing the film, it looks great! Gonna definitely watch the film. You mentioned William Landgren as one of your inspirations, but he doesn't operate within the hardware restrictions as you do. Keep up the great work, its very inspiring.
Thanks for saying that man. I believe William would do equally well if he had the hardware that I have. That guy is crazy. Do not take me lightly when I say that. He's goated
@@stache_obj Of course I don't mean to undermine William. Love his work as well.
Also some tips for noobs:
1: For any physics objects, go into the physics tab in the properties editor and click "bake all dynamics" so it saves the would-be result of the simulation in a cache, which will run in real time and be less exhaustive and exhausting. And then with any changes, you just delete the cache and bake it again, but your computer won't be trying to calculate cause and effect every single frame
2: it took me months of changing rendering from CPU to GPU to realize it wasn't actually doing anything because I didn't set up GPU settings in the preferences. You might have to research compatibility with your card and Optix and Cuda or whatever but it cut my cycles frame renders from a minute down to five seconds with my graphics card
3: probably a small and single purpose deal, but if you have a ton of objects with the same physics settings, group them all into one object with one physics modifier and turn on "self collision"
Great tips. Thanks for taking the time out to type it all out
@stache_obj happy to do it. Been at this for a year now, and I don't really have anything good yet, so I figure if my knowledge isn't being utilized yet I'll just tell other people what I know when I can
I'm loving learning Blender and taking it slowly. Somehow it all just makes sense in my head as I keep learning. This is a great motivational video! Art is hard in so many mediums and Blender is no different in that aspect. Thanks for sharing.
You got this! Keep going
I have heard countless motivational videos just to make me feel better and keep me motivated. But this is the first time I have understood what the problem with my thought process is. You have made my subscription worth something.
That means a lot man. Glad I could give you some value from your subscription 🙏🏻
I am just beginning my journey in Blender and 3D art in general and I'm already starting to make excuses for myself to not put forward the effort and energy I started with just because it gets frustrating, confusing, and takes a LOT of time. Thank you for this reminder that often our biggest obstacle in life is our own silly human mind. Truly inspiring.
I know man. You're exactly right. It's usually us limiting ourselves.
im impressed with the lightingg
Thanks!
My dude, you're BLOODY talented!
Thanks man. Means a lot
love the vibes dude, amazing subsurface scattering use too
That part about throwing out projects are too real, glad I'm not alone in it
I know man. We all have done it at some point
I have a similar laptop to your one, but cant even imagine to do something like this. literally amazing 🔥
Appreciate you saying that man. I think it's unfair coz I also have a lot of experience with blender in general. So as long as you're making what you wanna make, you're serving the purpose right
@@stache_obj yes😀
this is the first videos that got rocommended to me on blender and im obsessed now im learning blender ❤
Lezzzgooo
Awesome the way you catch those ordinary moments and some how extract the beauty of those moments, i really like It, good job
Thank you very much! Glad you find the meaning behind them
I don't just love this video walkthrough, I love the positivity. This guy earns his subs. Great content!
I appreciate that!
@@stache_obj anytime! Glad to see this kind of personality shine!
I love that plane overhead shot so much!
Ikr. Me too
I absolutory love that tree shot with that airplane in the distance!!!
Me too. That's why I made it the main titlecard scene
BRO, I HAVE A SAME LAPTOP SPEC AS YOU (BUT ACER NITRO 5),
Sometimes it seems useless to work with a low -end machine, but God has given you a lot because some people don't even have that. Ignore all the problems and do something fantastic. Thank you for making this video, I really appreciate you, how you did?
It really makes my day. God bless you. ♥♥♥
Hell yeah. Exactly the point I was trying to make through this video. Thanks for understanding
Thankyou for sharing your experience. It is so moving and answered the questions that bugged me already.
Glad to hear that my friend
bro this is genious, my pc is in the same range! Good luck with your CG career!
just a few days back i started learning blender.
Great approach! It’s an age old problem where our tastes and skill aren’t aligned, so we’re unhappy with the outcome. No way to go but forward!
