Mr. G's 1 minute lesson: How to make a penny battery.
Penny batteries are made from copper, zinc, and an electrolyte. The zinc is on the inside of the penny. You can use sandpaper to shave off one side of the copper plating. Then place a cardboard or paper soaked in salt water in between. This is called a voltaic pile. You should get between .6 and .8 volts.
