    Hello Jamel,
    If you watch this video with closed captions turned on, you will get the English version of the Mongolian lyrics. The chant of Hu Hu Hu Hu can be loosely translated as Us Us Us Us.
    There is a lot of symbolism in this video. The ancient Mongolian Horseman, the howl of a wolf in the distance. The 'new' horse, the motorcycle, all symbols of the past.
    They mention the numbers 10, 100, 1,000, and 10,000. These were unit sizes of the 'Horde'. 10 being the basic 'squad' of men. 10 of those squads made up the larger 100 unit, and on and on.
    You will also see animals mentioned. These are Totem Animals that were names for the above units, and are used in Modern Mongolian Wrestling as 'ranks'. In the lyrics they make specific mention of tactics using these totems. 'If you come as Snake, we will fly over you as the Garuda Bird (The Garuda bird is taken from India, where the Garuda is a bird-like air spirit, also known as the Aquila, or Eagle in English... Which is where the Constellation of Aquila comes from).
    For each Totem's 'power'... Strength of the Lion, Speed of the Tiger, Crushing power of the Elephant, etc there is a counter. Against the trickery of the Snake, one flies above like the Garuda Bird (eagle), And if you come as Humans, they still win, because they are the People of the Wolf and will overwhelm you.
    This song should not be seen as a 'call to arms', but instead, like the previous song, a call to the Mongolian people to awaken and take a renewed interest in their shared Heritage. A proud History of a warrior people that once ruled an Empire larger than any other ever recorded in all of History.
    The guitar, drums (drummer was seen several times. the tall thin one with long hair head banging and singing along to the left of the main throat singer with one of the two Mongolian 'violins'), and the Morin Khuur, or the 'horse headed fiddle' are all 'traditional' Mongolian musical instruments.
    Yet playing these, they have made an outstanding pair of 'rock' songs. Songs that even if you can't understand the lyrics, still reach into you and touch that deep core in yourself that we all inherit from our distant ancestors. Race, Religion, Culture, Language, none of that matters since the song speaks to the most primitive side of our Natures.
    Just some thoughts,
    speaking Frank-ly

You look astonished at the end, and as if you was with them, encouraging them, singing their war song. This song is everything it's a great mix between traditional Mongolian songs and metal. And throat singing goes so well with this kind of music. Love them and thank you for you great reaction. (Sorry for my English this is not my language)

It is the kind of music you want playing when you are at the edge of your endurance and need that one little push to get you going again. This is the type of Music YOU DO NOT WANT TO PLAY DURING RUSH HOUR, because it will likely lead to you getting arrested.

    Remember, Mongolians scared Chinese so much they're the reason The Great Wall exists! Their singing style is NO EFFECT, called karkyraa and khoomei (Mongolian throat singing - reminds"fry vocals" of a man with bass voice, like Till Lindemann from Rammstein. It's done more using the throat and vocals chords), That horse head instrument is called morin khuur (horse head fiddle) . Next like a guitar instrument is called tovshuur (Mongolian traditional guitar). The Hu said they are created new genre then they called that Hunnu rock.

    I can speak from personal experience, these guys rock super hard. A small venue filled with Adolescents to Old Geezers was shouting and chanting along with them...and they were just the opener! Gotta keep ears out for new releases from them. \m/
    Around the same time these guys came out, I also learned about a new band named SKALD that you might want to give a listen to. Similar genre (traditional + rock), expect instead of Mongolian they sing in Old Norse.

    Several months back this video showed up in my recommendations list. I didn't watch it for weeks. I finally decided to give it a chance and I was blown away immediately by what I was hearing. My mind was blown by the instrumentation and the throat singing. My dog was laying down beside my chair and had become a dire wolf about halfway through the song. I noticed my beard had grown in length and fullness. I suddenly felt the urge to conquer my block and the two blocks to my west. I was going to do the same to my east but a large stone wall had been erected by those residents.

    As we search for our reason for being as humans, this and many other songs speak to the warrior within us, my ancestors came from the north and brought fear and fire from the sea. The ancestors of these guys swept out of the steppes of the east and let nothing stand in their way. Understanding the words doesn't matter, this simply calls on us to be proud, strong and fierce. We, the modern man, could and should learn from this message.

    The instrument was a muhrin khuur or Horse-head fiddle a traditional Mongolian instrument. The Mongols between the 13-14th century AD had the largest empire in the world under the leadership of Gengis Khan (mentioned in the song), their massed horse archers in that era armed with compound bows were deadly accurate and were unstoppable as they decimated their enemies with hit and run tactics.
    Check out the band Heilung who take the art of throat singing to the next level.

      What ? In which song does Heilung use Throat singing?

    • @LeeRaldar
      @LeeRaldar 5 років тому

      @@servantofthemosthigh9250 There is throat singing in pretty much all Heilung's songs.
      A good example is Alfadhirhaiti (link below).
      It begins with a question answer response section then builds up to a crescendo as they recite the names of Odin in a rhythmic chant.
      The language is proto-Germanic however translations are easy to find.
      Edit: The shamanic recital in Fylgija Ear also has throat singing as a backing sound.

And then I learned about the song later and realized I very possibly could have been in a bar with the Mongols MC. Badass

    • @TheDarkstormy
      @TheDarkstormy 5 років тому +3

      That is truer than you jest, You have to remember that while Genghis' Primary lineages are counted from the four sons of Börte, Jochi, Chagatai, Tolui and Ögedei the man himself had like 12 other sons and an unknown number of daughters. Basically if you come from Mongolia, Northern China, Manchuria, Korea Any of the 'stans (Uzbek/Turkmen/Afghan/Paki/Kyrgyz) Iran, and most of the old Mughal Empire in India there's pretty much a garauntee that you are somehow sharing a family tree with a Borjigin.

    The noise in their throat is know as overtone or polyphonic singing. It's a real skill and incredible to listen to. If you want to hear more overtone singing than Huun Hur Tuu are the band to go to. They're from the Tuva region of Russia and they are just mind blowing. Also Angelite, the Bulgarian woman's choir, are stunning too. Their song 'fly fly my sadness' is so, so, so beautiful. I don't understand a word but it moves me to tears every time. Thank you for shining the spotlight on The Huu, Mongolia is such a beautiful part of the world but is also really struggling. When I was there it had a population of 2.5 million people and was so poor it was relying on America for aid just to stay a float. It also has a really interesting history, it was the second communist country in the world after Russia and its stuck between the Dragon and the Bear (China and Russia). If you're American you can stay In the country for 3 months visa free so please thin about it if you want to go.
