The BNSF 7xx units are not ex-Santa Fe. They were delivered very early in the BNSF era and came in red and silver to run on ex-Santa Fe lines. The Heritage 1 Dash-9's were to run on ex-BN lines. That plan was never put into effect.
***** Another part of the plan that never got beyond the idea stage was a paint scheme based on red (think CB&Q) that was to run on the central lines. Someone at the BNSF finally figured out that trying to keep different paint schemes on certain corridors was going to be a logistics nightmare...especially since the Santa Fe method was to let power float around the system. It was nice having a relative working at the BN/BNSF headquarters in Ft. Worth. I got all kinds of info. I have BNSF maps that were printed months before the intent to merge was even announced. Of course at the time I had to promise not to mention the merger or show the maps to anyone.
Nice catches! That's awesome a BNSF Warbonnet Dash9 and those two KCS SD70MAC's.
Great catches and lashups!
Nice!
@Burlington Northerndude Thanks!
nice vid. Why did the BNSF/KCS trio leave and come back
