    Nice one, great advice, my local range recently installed trackman, and as a 50 something with 90s blades it's demoralising, so I now don't bother with it, just do similar exercise concentrating on strike and targets from 50 -150 yards with my mid irons. Great video!

    Great video guys. The Trackman Range in my local area has made a huge difference to the quality of my practice sessions. I’ll definitely be trying some of your ideas as well next time I’m there

    I use those little stickers that show where the ball is being struck on the club face that has helped turn my practice from just burning through balls to making adjustments

    I hate driving ranges cause a mat is nothing like real grass …

    • @guyr7351
      @guyr7351 Рік тому +7

      And if you hit heavy it gets masked by the mat not giving like the ground, so it’s a half decent shot. You can also cause damage to your wrists / fingers hitting the mat too hard.

    Good idea guys, i start on my gap wedge and work my way down to my four iron before i touch my driver, but i will try to do what you said by doing half swings and breaking up the range balls into groups for each club i need to work on, keep up the great work, cheers

      similar here - between 5-8 shots for each of L, SW, PW, mixing starting with half swings up to full, and then 5-8 shots full for 9, 8, 7, 6 and 5 with practice swings in between. Then feeling good, I duff my driver a few times and go home in a huff

    Thanks for a great video! How is hitting off the mat different than turf? Should I make any allowance for that?

    I need one of these ranges in my area. I think the closest top tracer range is like an hour away. I have a top golf 10 minutes away. And xgolf which is like indoor simulator golf. But I want an outdoor range with trackman or top tracer. 🤦🏻‍♂️😭 I might have to start it myself. 😂

    I always start with a 6 iron and hit it gently to a 100 yd mark. It gives you confidence when the ball clears that target with ease.

    Problem i have, even with a structured practice, is knowing how to correct the faults on the day. I feel i'm sometimes just grooving bad swings and shots!!

    My local range has just bumped price of 100 balls up to £8.25. No trackman just a few tyres in a field. It's a joke really, could at least mow a few green shapes and put a few flags down. Don't bother now.

    Hi James, I noticed that you have the ball towards your left foot when hitting your irons. And your left foot back slightly off square setup? His this personal to your setup

    Try placing the ball tray behind you. Rake or place one ball at a time to a position in front of the player. This will remove the multiple balls from your vision of sight. Allowing the player to focus on each ball one at a time as you would see on the T box and fairway. Removing any anxiety and improving tempo and rhythm. Remember golf is a game of opposites and mental anxiety. Have fun with the lower scores

    When you get older you need to do a warmup also before you even hit a ball.

    I almost always start with SW and then work up to a 5.. then hit driver, then play a game with the driver where I create an imaginary fairway and score shot’s depending if I hit the fairway or not.. after that I finish with wedges aiming at a green

    • @guyr7351
      @guyr7351 Рік тому +2

      Gareth I do something similar at times as well. I’ll have a session going through the clubs, then play an imaginary few holes.
      Hit driver / 3W was it straight on target fairway? If yes I then take a short iron to a flag = green. If it’s missed then I’m hitting a mid iron as long way to the green, if that’s good then a wedge shot.
      Then it’s driver again, and repeat, the practice being no second shot on the driver etc as there wouldn’t be in the course, if driver is hit really bad then I’ll try a second = provisional ball.

    Best trick is to get a empty basket. Put your basket on top so you take one ball at a time. Amazing takes time to think about next shot, trust me the is really helpful, plus it last longer,, and value for money, 🤔🤔🤗🤗

    I only practice my driver at the range. I have a system for that where I work through different aims/outcomes so I'm not just forgetting what I'm doing and trying to blast it. Then usually finish with some speed training.
    I can't really use irons at the range, pretty much always end up with tendonitis in my right wrist from hitting the mats. Once I even just risked a few swings with a long iron I'd been struggling with on the course, only had a few swings and already that numbness that preceeds the flare up in pain had started.
    Incidentally, it's also something that sticks in my mind when I think about getting fitted for clubs, along with the fact that I'm not entirely sure iron practice at the range translates well to the course at all.

    I typically start with Higher Lofted Wedges and Hit 10 Balls with a Launch Monitor to get average Distant then work my way down. If any balls are left I then do Random Distant.

    My local range now charges £7.50 for 50 balls ! No electronics just a mat. That’s 15p for every swing. My club has just increased membership fees by 15% ! How much longer is the pandemic golf boom going to last ? My prediction is not very long.

    No Trackman at ranges here in Japan. Balls pop up from the floor. Most you buy a card and use it each time you come. Some reload. You’re hitting onto artificial surfaces enclosed by really tall nets. Max before the back net is usually at, or a bit more than, 225. Some ranges have shorter distances and limited flight balls. At times I hate my fucking life.
