      @@niichan-jan3337 Hi there. Yeah so you are gonna need a "universal to yaris wiring harness". You may need an other adaptor depending on which brand of radio you go for. Some brands will include the adaptor anyways. If it dosen't then you just need to get a "(Brand name of your radio) to universal wiring harness". I would stick to the well known brands like Sony, Pinoneer, Kenwood ect. They are tried and tested!

      Between the two phase I'm not sure. Don't think so as the wiring harness are the same for both cars. If you have the rear parcel shelf speaker, CD change or the toyota under seat sub woofer I can see it being different. A good wiring diagram should sort that out! You can also get different plugs for different head units but there is an adapter for everything! Hope this helps. Sorry for the slow response

    Hi, this has been very helpful. However, I was wondering whether you would be able to help me finding which of the wires from the stock headunit goes to the speakers. I’m trying to tap them to go to my subwoofer (don’t have enough money atm to get an aftermarket headunit). Any help with a wiring diagram or advice would be useful.

    • @DriveShifty
      @DriveShifty  5 років тому +1

      Hi there. You would need to run a high to low rca converter as the signals won't work well for your sub. Here is the first one I found on ebay .www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HIGH-LEVEL-SPEAKER-TO-LOW-LEVEL-RCA-CONVERTER-2-CHANNEL-CABLE-ADAPTER-CTLOC10/361011092624?hash=item540df01c90:g:13QAAOSw2oJZ1P-I:rk:17:pf:0 Best off going for the rear speakers as they are the easiest to find. I can't remember what the colours are but I know it has it's own plug. So it you were to look at a adaptor harness for a yaris it would be the conector with the 4 wires going to it. You will be able to find a wiring diagram on www.yarisclubuk.com/ for it. If I was you I would look about for a cheap headunit on ebay or facebook for £10. Would save you a load of hassle! Hope this helps.

      Second player as in a new head unit? You will need a universal to toyota radio adaptor harness. There is ways to install a sub off the orginal harness and radio but they don't sound that great. Best and easiest bet is to install a new headunit and run the sub off rca cables

    Good day, do
    You have a leveling for the dash board bulbs. I am trying to check my odometer lights and fuel tank lights on my 2004 Yaris

    • @DriveShifty
      @DriveShifty  4 роки тому

      By leveling do you mean video? If so no but if you want it out I can help.
      Off the top of my head for the phase 2 to get the dash display out you need to:
      -Take the surround off just like the first step of the video.
      -Unplug the conector that is right there.
      -Take the 4 bolts that hold the display in (I think there is 4 this is off the top of my head)
      -Unplug the side connector on the left handside of the front of the display
      -Pull the display toward you and wiggle it out of its hole
      -There is two plugs on the back of the display so don't tug on it but try and undo them as you are wiggling them out.
      Hope this helps. It will be different for a phase 1 and maybe if it's left drive but it shouldn't be far off.
      I'm unsure if there is bulbs on the back but it is worth a look. Thats only because it's been a while since I have hhad mine out. Dosen't take to long to pull out so worth a look!

      Hi their. I'm amusing that you are still trying to take it out from the dash. Their is only those 4 bolts that are holding it in. If it's the first time that part has ever came off it is going to be really tough. Even though I have had my one out loads it's still tough. Hold the sides of it closer to the top and pull towards the middle of the car

      So if you are putting in a new headunit you will need:

      [Anywhere that sells car audio stuff]
      A radio wiring harness for a yaris
      [Ebay is usaly the cheapest]

I want to keep the 02 due to low mileage and its ulez compliant as made in EU. So my question is, could i swap over the tape player/cd player? Good question! From my thinking the plugs should be the same as there is only one universel adaptors for them. The only thing you would have to swap over is the headunit it's self and the trim peices that go around it.
      With then both being Phase 1's the process is different at the start compared to Phase 2's. You just need to skip the taking the plastic surround for the clocks and just start at taking the bolts out from behind the heater control nobs.

      None of my yaris's have codes on the radio. If you have ever had a dead battery and not had to put a code in to the radio after you don't have codes on the radio

    Do you not need a new fascia?

    • @DriveShifty
      @DriveShifty  2 роки тому

      Not for a single din headunit! You remove the tray under the orginal headunit and use the bolts to hold in the new headunit! Make sure where you screw them into your new headunit that it's not gonna hit anything inside the headunit

      If you are willing to fund the video then no problem. If not then jack under the engine, engine mount off. Slacken alternator and take belt off

    is the top thing a sat nav? can it be replaced or removed etc?

    • @DriveShifty
      @DriveShifty  5 років тому

      Most yaris's it's just a mpg meter and for the old radio. Some yaris did have a sat nav optional extra but it was really not good xD Some Japanese just had a cubby hole there instead. If you keep an eye out you might see one for sale but like any cool parts for a yaris, they are rare.

      @@DriveShifty ah. thanks for the reply! i have just been looking at possible first car options as i recently passed and this is one of them. its something i have my eye on along with stuff like polos and fiestas (all small petrols) but have yet to try any of them irl. a car like the t sport would be affected by a ULEZ right?

      @@DriveShifty also if you upgrade stereo the controlls on it for the new one wont work right? also does the yaris have buttons to control the stereo on the wheel? also do you know if the lights rear/front can be upgraded to something nicer looking?

      @@Sol-su2mi Yaris are great first car's. My yaris is my first car and I still have it after 5 years.
      To be fair when it comes to first cars you are going to get buggered by the insurance in anything. I wished I got a t sport over my t spirit as they are the same prices for insurance.
      ULEZ I haven't got a clue. Probs only for electric cars. I would have a look online for that. I live on the other end of the country.
      Yes the old stereo controls do not work with a new headunit. As for the steering wheel controls they won't as well unless you buy a harness that makes it work.
      As for lights their is many ways to can go about changing them. You would just have to find then first. Their is loads of guides and ideas on the yaris forums.

      This sometimes happens but no worrys. Grab some brake fluid and pore it on to the shaft. Put the wheel back on and tighten it up. The brake fuild will help glue it in and keep it there.

      At the fuse box under the steering wheel. Can remember which one it is but they should be labeled on the back of the pannel you pull off.
