  • These are new pens that I built this year so I can separate pairs or trios of pheasants and peafowl. Currently I do have some ducks in these pens as well which is kinda temporary till I get more pens build but it works alright if extra space is needed. Still need to make nesting boxes and add other things for cover.

Great work. Doing the same myself. Got to make more room.
Edit: I use trampoline springs to close my doors behind me.
    Love the PVC roof cap.

Bro that pen is great for wood duck's. Plenty of space plus roosting and hiding spots. You can easily have three pair in that pen. The only thing would be to add more water. Great lem though.

I love it. Those are awesome. I'd like to have some like that for my pheasants.

Very nice. I just had to laugh when you said "these are just temporary"... in my world that usually turns into "temporarily permanent"! :)

Sometimes temporary turns into a couple years around here.

Nice. I see everyone using netting for ceiling. Would 1” chicken wire be better? What’s the benefit of netting besides weight and cost?

I use 2in heavy knotted netting. I use keep snow from sticking. I still have to go out and give it a shake sometimes but I would have to do it alot more with smaller openings.

Do you have a material list or an approximate cost?

I think it was roughly $1,000 in lumber (going to be way more now) at least 130 8ft 2x4s, and some 10ft and 12ft 2x4s. The tin was all free, I think 3 rolls of 48"x50ft 2x4 wire.

Hi Oliver do you sell fertilized wood duck eggs?

Just subscribed, also just got my first peafowl. Was wondering where you are located? You said snow, how do your blues handle the cold

I'm in Southcentral Minnesota, so neg 20s is a common thing for us in the winter. The blues handle it just fine. No heat lamps, no heated waters. Had them in these pens all winter and the only thing extra I did was put in some Christmas trees and plenty of straw in the lean-to part.

Why would people think this is not predator proof? Because of the netting on the top? I’m building a peafowl enclosure and looking for pointers specifically for them.

Netting on top, 2x4 wire on sides, no electric fence wire, and my underground barrier is just the tin is only down about 6in. Most people like to lay down wire so it's 4in underground and sticks out 2 ft around entire perimeter. Also this is a problem for the pheasants in that there's a spot for roosting to close to the netting.
