Tom, I had a similar-looking problem with a card too. It was in my mom's laptop, and she'd never turn it off, and ended up burning the card out. It had the same reaction. So it might be an overheat problem instead of the card itself. Who knows? Maybe I'm completely wrong!
thats why my old 7770 which is in my friends comp is still running flawlessly, and my current 7970 is runnig flawlessly even through the 500+ hours of gaming that it has endured
In my opinion, The first boot should have been without the Radeon Card as you have an on board graphics card. You have to let the onboard hardware install correctly first then install the Radeon Drivers, and then insert the Radeon Card. I think this is why things went bad for you. Unlucky! I hope you sort it out soon and post another video about it.
@marcusarelius23 I'm afraid your wrong man... I don't have onboard video on this mobo, and if I did, I'd jump straight into the BIOS and disable it right away so that Windows didn't install 2 sets of video drivers (for the integrated and dedicated.) Thanks for the help though.
That would really have annoyed me! I recently had to send my graphics card back due to it being incompatible but due to a tiny scratch on the back plate they charged me £23! I found this absolutely crazy, to replace the i/o plate it would have probably cost them £2 at most which I wouldn't mind paying as it was my fault. But over £20 for that was ridiculous! I will never buy from them again (Novatech) in contrast the service I have got from Dabs.com and Overclockers UK has been exemplary!
Damn, I hope you have no problems returning the card :/ On the plus side, the 6870 is a much better card overall, closer to 5870 fps with better tessellation performance. The best company I've dealt with in terms of after sales support is ebuyer. Always incredibly helpful if something goes wrong. E.g. I had a Gigabyte mobo fail after around 6+ months of use, opened RMA, they paid to collect the item and within a few days credited my account.
Protip. Get NVIDIA. If you really feel it was a hardware/driver issue, NVIDIA drivers are as stable as it gets. Not sure how much you're willing to sped, but go for a 570, or if you're up for it go for a 580 maybe even 670. The latter far out performs the 7970 at times, at a much more reasonable price point. Good luck with the refund.
Poor you ):. When I first booted my new PC it short circuited, and brought down the power circuit for my room, at first i thought it was my own fault, so if there would be any damage, the warranty would not kick in. But a guy from the local PC store said everything was connected properly ;p, so now I at least can claim the warranty when I have damage, :3
Well that sucks! I had an ATI in my old PC and it was working 'til I sold it (About 5 years...) But anyway could you please upload that "failed" Windows install Video because me and alot of People want to watch it! Thanks Chris
That sucks! Atleast you can still use the in built graphics on the motherboard (if it has that) to set up the machine and customize it all to how you like so you only have to put in the new graphics card when it comes and that's it :)
Ouch, very unlucky. Hope you can get your money back for the card. Will you be uploading the installation video you recorded the night before the morning it went wrong anyway? Would still be a nice video, juice spilling and all. :)
yo not gonna lie your hair looks pretty sweet. I mean its kinda messy but if you did something with it, it would look awesome. Its kind of mullet like right now just shape it up. White hair in my opinion is sick.
Wow if this is your natural hair then I'm Jealous! Oh Btw you remind me of the grown up version of Near from Death Note :3..I'm building my first DIY gaming pc right now and your videos helps a lot..RIP to your graphic card.
If you try running a different driver do you still have these Problems? It's most likely a hardware problem, but there is a chance the Driver is really bad and playing nice with your system. Roll back your Driver.
what a shame after all the effort you put into it I too hope you get a refund or replacement maybe you could request a free upgrade for your troubles?? hope so anyway good luck and look forward to your next video @steve0121
Its call pixlation because it because its getting to hot. You can fix it . Take off the heat sink and fans off and re therm past the heat sink and place the fan back on
A friend's HP DV6500's video card went out on it. I wanted to make a video but when I did the video was sideways so I gave up lol I hope you get your computer up and running.
i used Nvidia too, but then my Nvidia died and i bought new one, and couple months later, that second one also died... so it doesn't mater if it's Nvidia or ATI...
don't rest the graphics card on the anti static bag, the back of the bag is conductive.
Why is that an issue even if it was charged the static energy would be removed.
that's incorrect the anti static bag isn't conductive without something charged with electrostatic is in the bag.

Sounds daft but have tried without using the KVM switch that might be a problem if there's a slightly dodgy cable in it
RMA FTW! Annoying, but it's there for a reason. I've never done with with Amazon before though so I can't say how good or bad they are.
Such a shame when things like this happen! Especially when you're powerless to do anything. Sorry to hear this mate :-(
damn cant wait till u get it fixed

@OverclockedGamerRO Read my reply to DannyBruv2k... I think your having problems, not me. Your looking at me incredibly closely. It's pretty scary...
back your grafikcart by 200°C for 10 minutes and cooldown 1 hour ! ITS FUNCTIONAL !
@gunnygundog Easier said than done... If your interested in my eyesight conditions, then feel free to email me.
@TheHaCkEr1234321 Kind of impossible when the system is frozen because of a graphics card failure. lol
@dasharound Installed the hardware and the drivers multiple times... nothing.
Well if it fails under small load , maby that when his was made that the bja welding went wrong , but I would say for you to get a differnt card .
Cool N64 Holder In The BAck
Btw visiontek 5670 is great for the price
My CPU and GPU are both AMD and I have no issues.
@Mr3DFIRE About £550 I believe... About £620 without the sales.
i will cry if that happens to me

@DannyBruv2k Too many punches to the face.... lol

"Of course you've gotta remember why these pixels are on the screen.. the entire system is crashed. So that doesn't help." LOLOLOL
sorry tom your card is dead, my 4850 from xfx did this after about 3 months. shame its not a messed up driver from amd as usual
The 5770 is notoriously unreliable, I had one, died within a month, now I have a 5670, and it's the card of my dreams.
had the exact same problem, like looked exactly like that. and it was my video which was not installed correctly.
@OverclockedGamerRO Yeah man open it :)
its probably because you fried something manhandling all your components without an antistatic wristband
that sucks dude i have a BFG 9800 GTX+ never failed on me but getting a new gaming rig and maybe get intel
Theres no experienced field computer hardware engineers in uk. Just one big incompetence. Such of sad true.
@FSCrazy100 LMAO, I really doubt that. Terrible hardware if it can't finish a benchmark without dying ^_^
may be drivers problem upgrade your drivers and diagnose it
dude, know im scared to build my own pc. iv been reading around, watching videos and slightly put off.
4got to feed his graphics card during the build lol... jk no offence :3 sorry about your card
So is it true that building a gaming pc is much cheaper than buying the built one?
i feel you. my 5770 died yesterday need to get replacement from cyberpower :P
@gunnygundog Bro dont hate know what ur talking about before you rag on someone
That blows man. That's that it's always good to keep old hardware around haha
That's unfortunately. Haven't got a spare GPU I guess? Good luck with it.
I do have albinism, yep :)
