  • On the previous episodes, I have been restoring my childhood computer.
After cleaning it and performing some tests I checked that it boots properly and retrobrighted some components, now it's time to continue with one of the most challenging parts: the keyboard.

Might be worth investing in a keycap puller if you are going to work on old keyboards in the future.

I have exactly the same keyboard and it also needed restoration. The cabe got worn in the same way, and since I did not find a proper replacement I used ethernet cable and a new plug to fix it. I found those popup spring stands to be quite a challange to fit properly back in a case. And mine did not include worms :) Besides, it is good itea to use a brush (or burshed tip) while vacuming all the dirt inside.

Hi there, I've got the same computer (but the 20Mhz version), adn the battery pack was just missing: I can build a new one the way you did, but I wonder if , as I guess , it's connected to the connector marked J12 in the database (just beside the AT P1/P2) connector. In your video looks like it comes from there but it's not visible, what birngs another question: which side is the red cable at, near the J or near the 2 in the J12 connector? I hope you can help.

All that work to solder cheap battery pack and still splicing old plug on to old wire. At that point why not just solder the original wire with plug to new battery pack?
