I happened to be at the vulture garage in Spence’s Bridge when he was filming this. Never heard of him or his shop before that day. His truck absolutely blew me away, and Karl was extremely friendly and happy to answer any questions I had, even though he was working. His friendliness actually caught me off guard. He is a straight up good person and one hell of a talented fabricator. The truck he built is stunning
This video is amazing, the filming and cinematography was just WOW. I understood every word when you were describing different types of metals, the textures, the colors and how they react to time. Here in Saskatchewan there are so many vehicles doing time in the fields, pastures and delapitated structures. Just waiting to be saved. Let see the interior of Brenda's truck! 🤟
Karl I don’t know what to say that hasn’t been said already ! I’m a car guy too and metal man pushing 60 ! 😳 And all your contents has put the fire in my belly ! I love all your posts ! From Down Under 🦘 Cheers Andy
Man id love to have a crew make a documentary with me like this. My clowning around would probably be too much for them lol Awesome video sir! Ill be making a fake-umentary when I get my Datsun Box truck done. It will be just like this, except terrible, not like this, a little like this, hell who knows.
Hey big guy hows it going. I regularly watch your channel to see your incredible creations. You may be Pot Counties best kept secret fabrication machine the way you attack those projects and show some really excellent skills.
If you love metal as much as you say, you must love Slayer!!!!!!!!! You should have a pro show on Discovery or something. It would be the best one ever because you are talented, funny and not a douche bag!
Most parents, (mine included), tend to punish kids who take things apart due to their curiosity. I'm glad to know that there are folks like your's who encouraged their youngsters and supported their quest for knowledge.
Looking back it’s pretty much the most amazing thing my parents did. They never stopped us from trying different things even if it ruined our backyard lol my mom and dad would just laugh and look at all the part and junk and tools on the grass. “At least we don’t need to cut the grass” lol
Excellent film Karl! I really enjoyed learning about you and what drives your passion. I’m new to welding and have learned so much from your channel so it was fun to get a different perspective on you and your talent.
Love your ‘how to ‘ videos, and great to see someone honing these skills which are deemed too hard generally these days. I hope you can keep making a living out of it. I would love to do what you do. Building these cars, I agree is a form of art and expression of your skills. Not everyone will like it but not everyone likes Picasso either! Keep it up and keep sharing your craft, there are people out here that have never seen how this stuff is done
Karl! Ahh man what a fantastic bit of film and insight into your life and work, I love to see your enthusiasm and genuine love for your art and you come across as a very friendly guy too, its very refreshing to see, keep up the great work dude and greetings from the uk
Karl Your artistry is awesome! To follow a passion is what makes a craftsman and to persue the extreme of ones craft makes a Grand Master. There are so few of those. A s you never stop learning until the day they put you in a box. Have enjoyed all your vids and tips. Keep it up as you are just a pleasure to watch and learn from. Huge Kudos man. Tuning in from Melbourne Australia.
No BS, mistakes not hidden, the ability to beat the snout out of it, and most important, The last words, ''I'm just going to do whatever I want with it'' This IS what Heart and soul of hot rodding looks like!
Pretty sure the corner at ua-cam.com/video/tuamxMy_prY/v-deo.html is one you want to slow down for, heading south. Usually lots of giggly skid marks into the wall. Beautiful country in the Thompson.
It is awesome to see you get the credit I think you deserve. I started watching your geeky how to videos that are so full of awesome content and techniques to where you are now. Fantastic work!
I totally get what you are saying, the intrinsic drive to manipulate metal. It's been with me my whole life as well, I loved shop class in high school. I changed my major in college to a harder one when I realized I wanted to be a mechanical engineer so I could understand metal better in designing race car frames and suspensions. I love your videos because, exactly like you said, it's hard to find places to learn this. I am continuing my education at Japhands University of metal shaping, where do I apply for a diploma? haha You have inspired thousands Karl, this is an amazing thing you are doing here.
I really loved the editing and the locations of this video! I really value your work. I grew up in the similar ways of you the way you did. I really loved back story of your childhood and your family. You and I did the same thing as kids. Your video touched a lot of the way my life was growing up and my love for welding and fabricating and building cars and customizing things to that weren’t meant to be customized. You are a very big inspiration to me and I love your videos it would be really cool if it was all on DVD. I would totally buy that. Thank you for everything you do but just keep doing I can’t wait to see the next video.
Your story is inspiration to me brother! I love metal and just shaping something that’s known as indestructible and making something completely differant. My journey is just starting. I grew up building crazy stuff. Built a go cart out of a snowmobile and a junked odessey chassis at 14 and life changed for me until recently I started my own journey….
That’s what they’re built for! Total enjoyment. It’s so funny that we posted it yesterday and yesterday I was back in Cache Creek for Graffiti days for the first time since I built the truck
I have watched this video numerous times I really enjoy it it is an inspiration to hear someone with as much passion as I about metal shaping and nature and building. Many days I enter the shop and this is the first video I listen to and watch on the TV I have on the wall while I work
Also, I love to watch people bending metal into vehicle's. I think that is the sweetest and coolest thing. I do Upholstery for a living, but if I would have knew about metal like I know now, I don't know. But, I Love doing Upholstery, it's my gift.
KARL! You are awesome man!!!! I love ya man and I love how yo built your truck, just so awesome! I have to meet you and take one of your classes to up my game. I wear your gear with pride here in Arizona, b/c you really inspire me to build and push my skills in metal forming. Thanks, Carl Carlson
Damnit Karl!! It's Sunday, another lazy day. And you got me wanting to go work on my crusty 94 accord coupe dx. I need your tools. I've got tubs of "pieces" too. Mostly metals, some glass. I can do what you do, but never had the tools. A teen in the 90's working the Norfolk VA shipyards taught me SO MuCH about fabrication. Great Doc fellers, and excellent job Karl spreading the disease
I had a similar childhood of disassembled toys and soldering irons. I'm already coaxing Little OMG (my three year old son) into the life of never ending projects. He was sitting on the couch watching this video with me and declared that he wanted a truck... one that makes fire! so I think its going in the right direction so far. So thankyou Karl (good thing you did a video on the flame throwers already)
What I liked about this video is that you told us the story along with pictures and videos. never got boring and you stayed glued to the TV. Well, Well put together. Plus, I already watching your channel.😁
Loved the show Karl its a beautiful truck. I liked the bikes mate I'm a biker . I've got 3 harleys 81 shovel head a 87 FXR custom with a springer front end and 05 super glide.
Imagine you hiking and coming across some guy carrying some metal object, grinning ear-to-ear, middle of nowhere 😂 I hope there's a fire extinguisher located in the car now, that bit at the tail-end had my heart racing. "oh dang, will he have to rebuild it all (⊙_⊙)!?" Awesome work!
Pure inspiration dude loved it. One day when im stood next to my truck at a show and somebody askes "what inspired you to build this? " my answer will be KARL FISHER
Hi Karl, I spent the summer of ‘81 throwing hay bales on the north end of Okanagan Lake outside Vernon. I love that area (doesn’t look like it’s changed much). Great videos!
Beautiful video! I get goosebumps when I see certain details of the cab I'd not seen in decades. I fiddled with one in high school and junior college back in the late '70s and early '80s. I never finished it and wound up donating it to a church auction for my grandma's church. I had other projects by then, including an old military jeep. But I never forgot my '38 Dodge.
what a beautiful video! There is definitely nothing more beautiful than creating something wonderful new from old scrap. And when you sit in it or on it and drive it, you feel like you have petrol in your blood. There's nothing more beautiful.....So the coffee is empty, I switch off the laptop and turn on the welding machine.... Best regards from Schweinfurt and keep going!
I like his flamethrowers. I want to build some for my mark 4. I like his electronics for them. Not the gas so much. I think I'm going to use propane on a solenoid switch. He made the electronics video look easy. Very cool dude! 👊🤠👍
Recently become a subscriber after coming across your channel. Cool film and love the truck, you're living the life I wanted to have... respect to you from the UK.
All I can say is wow. Great video and Carl you’re an amazing fabricator and creator. Couldn’t believe you were in Canada when I looked up your shop, I didn’t know talent this good hung out north of the border. Proud Canadian from Nanaimo on Van island 🤘🏼
I really enjoy your videos I made it through this one to the 4 min. mark I'd rather have seen a buddy of yours filming you talking in your shop. This one was too much hype/hollywood for me 'looking forward to your next project
Credit to everyone involved in the making of this pretty cool short film, Carl thanks for sharing your knowledge and attitude to "You can do it" . 👍 Thanks
Hey Karl, awesome video about you and your truck. If you play long enough with a toy, something will give or break. You have the knowledge to fix it. Take care and be safe.
Absolutely brilliant. Karl I doff my cap to you. Keep up your fantastic work. As your mind to me works perfectly. Its just a shame that here in the UK. All your dreams your passions would only ever stay that way. Nothing you have created or dreamt about would be allowed any where near a public road.
Karl i was wrong about the 4 3/4 bolt pattern for healy hub adapters..it is 5 inch spacing..had to use a spacer as well to clear the end of the mustang 2 hubs...the spoke wheels i use are mg 15s..they are on the t bucket i bought off of dwight...whom is in this documentary
Awesome video. You talked about building cool cars in the video, but I've been watching you a long time and I haven't seen you build a car yet. So get back to work on the Cad for your wife. Lol
nice video, young people have to take a cue, enough stupid consumerism, recovery of materials and creativity, the only salvation for the world, congratulations Karl 👍💪
I realized several years ago I didn’t need all the fancy tools to fabricate something custom. I made turn signal brackets for a square body from a piece of sheet metal, cutoff wheel, hammer, welder and vise.
rod and custom did an artical on how to chop a 50 merc i got my start on chopping with that artical i chopped a 46 chevy coupe and messed it all up thought i knew more than the guy in the artical but they jog cut their rooves to stretch them i didnt man what a time aligning it all back up i noticed karl cut his roof straight across anyone chopping should try the jog cut method square 6"x 8" zig zag joggle it gives you clamping spots when you get done you end up filling in a few squares also instead of cutting the rear window try sliding the back of the cab down behind the belt line change the window after if needed it makes a chop on a truck so much easier i love his work ethic its hammer down when you do what you love its not work anyways after 45 years of wanting a rod shop im finally getting mine going here bass harbor maine hopefully ill be having an open house by mid summer ill keep everyone posted my channel will be coming soon complete rod builds 100% made in house! karl is good maybe some day well meet he inspires me to keep going!🙂
Well Karl , I now know why I have been drawn to your work , you are probably the coolest guy on the planet in my eyes , All up front and nothing hidden . I just love that vibe .Viva la difference !
damn lol I am building a 36 Ford pickup and I have two of those inside window trims, I wish I would have known and would have just sent it to you, but good find!
If I were a rich man instead of so damn handsome at 72...I would buy a special junkyard filled with dying antique cars, I'd have a huge shop built...I mean huge! Then I'd call you and offer you the property deed & when you accepted, I'd hire some movers and let you direct them to your new shop...shit! I forgot, we gotta have a nice home built there too for the Misses...I'm such a dreamer and I like to do kind things...Karl, I'd do that for you, your a pretty good kid in my books. Great movie...😎👍102
I built a lot of small aircraft. people would order it up and we would build. Best day you'll have on this earth is the buyer sits in it; starts it up; tours the skies; then shakes your hand.
Well that's a big huge WOW . An insight into how and why you have become who you are . An amazing video soo well done . It shows your journey and the passion you have to learn and share your experiences and expertise. As you say we all learn and get better as we go and with UA-cam and the internet it's a lot easier to find information and videos on how to and as long as people like you are there we can all learn new skills and improve the ones we have . Thanks Karl
“ If you do what you love, you’ll never “work” a day in your life.” That love shows in your creativity. Thanks for posting this. Great video.
Thanks so much glad you enjoyed it! And you’re absolutely right! Cheers

Artistry in metal meets artistry in media. What a great result. Near brings a tear to the eye.

As you say we all learn and get better as we go and with UA-cam and the internet it's a lot easier to find information and videos on how to and as long as people like you are there we can all learn new skills and improve the ones we have . Thanks Karl
