1970 Opel Diplomat 2.8 E Automatic

This amazing Opel Diplomat was sold new in Belgium in 1970 to a pharmacist and he kept the car his entire life. It was never used in the rain and was always parked in a heated garage so it still looks like new and the interior is almost unused. The straight six engine runs very smoothly and the car drives like new. Everywhere you look it is like new and unbelievable for 47 years old car.... It comes with the complete history, all the books, keys, original folders, invoices and many other documents. A genuine collectorsitem and a one of a kind car in this condition. Where do you find another one from the first owner, unrestored in this condition?

Schon als Kind habe ich diese Autos geliebt. Die 108er Mercedese waren schön, die großen Opel waren geil. Die BMW-Oberklasse hatte an Charakter wenig entgegenzusetzen, damals. Dass sie gemocht, aber nicht gekauft wurden ist fast ein wenig tragisch, aber ein zu einfallsloses Interieur und eine zu ungenaue Zielgruppenansprache waren wohl hauptsächlich ausschlaggebend dafür. Schraubenlöcher in den Innentürgriffen ging halt schon damals gar nicht. Man hätte aus dem Armaturenbrett auch mehr machen können, da war die Innenausstattung das A-Diplomats einschliesslich des flach gehaltenen Armaturenbretts klar eleganter und gediegener.

This was not possible because Opel belonged to GM and they didn´t allow to export these indeed magnificent cars to the U.S. They wanted to avoid competiting models probably.
