Tom Marvolo Riddle, later known as Lord Voldemort or, alternatively as You-Know-Who, the Dark Lord, or He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named was an English half-blood wizard considered to have been the most powerful and dangerous Dark Wizard of all time. He was amongst the greatest wizards to have ever lived, often considered more powerful or equal to Albus Dumbledore.

Life of Ayanokji

Me
The life of
Harry james potter the boy who lived
Don't mind me I'm just here revising for Hogwarts Legacy.
I always forget how amazing HP lore is
Same same
This is exactly who I'm playing as in Hogwarts Legacy lol I created Tom.
Theres an ominous gaunt in legacy
@@neonmatt24 that's 🔥
Voldemort is a lot like Orochimaru: Both are part-snake, both have an obsession with a teenage black-haired boy without parents, both put weird marks on their followers, and both are obsessed with immortality
Damn haha. So true lmao.
That's old. People were making that connection back in the early 2000s, when both Naruto and Harry Potter were ongoing stories.
FACTS
Yo how is this not a death battle 😂
Funny thing is that I watch both of those seires
One of the worst changes the movies made was when Dumbledore visits young Tom Riddle at the orphanage, Tom says "I can make bad things happen to people who are mean to me". When in the book he says "I can make bad things happen to people who annoy me". Just that slight alteration can make Voldemort look like a more sympathetic figure to the casual movie viewer instead of the cold, calculating, psychopath he was from a young age
Very true!!
Thanks MovieFlame lol
You spoke my mind
My opinion on that is that the movie is more accurate because people like that often do see slight annoyances as people being mean to them or unfair treatment because of how their condition can skew their outlook on outside influences
Psychopaths are born that way. And with his childhood the way it was, we don't know if he was born that way or made that way. So we can't know if he was psychopath or sociopath
I would truly love to see an Origin movie for Tom Riddle and his journey into dark magic to become Lord Voldemort!
Please no. Every origin story movie always fails in portraying the main character as the psychopath they are make and them an anti hero instead. Malificent and Curella are perfect examples. A movie about young Voldemort therefor must be a movie about middle age Dumbledore.
@@Philtopy Ummm both those movies were designed that way by choice, and if you paid attention to any of his flashbacks in the Half Blood Prince they already made him a sympathetic villain by showing that he was bullied in the orphanage!
@@neonmatt24 yeah that may be true but they also changed passges from the book.
In the movie he said: "I can hurt people who are bad tto me." WHile in the book he says "I can hurt people who annoy me."
Its a slight difference but speaks a totally different tone about the character. Voldi committed several murders while he was in hogwards.
Sorry but no. They already deviated from the books quite a lot, anything more would break the character.
FACTS!!!!!!!!
@@Philtopy which makes them sociopaths not psychopaths. Neither of which are evil. They do not contain the necessary control. Both should be sympathized. There are nuerotypical people doing the same kind of shit. They should not be sympathized with
Dumbledore did respond when Riddle told him he could talk to snakes and asked dumbledore if it that was normal for wizards, dumbledore replied “it is unusual, but not unheard of”
Harry asked him “did you know then sir” ? Dumbledore replied “no, I did not know what he would come to be, but his ability did not unease as much as his inclinations to cruelty and domination”.
This section really tells you all you need to know about the guy. Spine tingling, in a way.
Motherhood was Voldemort's worst enemy lol Lili and Narcissa really did him dirty lol
Which is ironic considering his Mother could be one of the reasons why Voldemort was psychotic.
Fun Fact: In the Ministry, in the Book, Dumbledore completely dogs on Voldremort. To the point Voldemort has to conjure a shield just to not die.
The only real issue I have with the movies how they left out most of dumbledore wielding the elder wand they just refer to his power and only gave him one scene showing him wielding that power when he saved harry from being pulled in the lake in movie 6
@Elf you talking about Order of the Phoenix. Dumbledore nowhere near dogged Voldemort. Soon as Albus showed up Voldemort put the squeeze on him. Albus was on the run most of the short lived battle.
@@SenorDasher bro in the books it was much more one sided
I actually prefer how the movies had shown the battle. By actually making voldemort seem like dumbledore's equal it increases the fear of voldemort.
@@lynchiestlynch5442 But that wasn't the case. Dumbledore is the only one he feared and for a good reason. Voldemort's usage of Dark magic and lack of empathy makes him formidable against Dumbledore. If there's anything we learned from the Fantastic Beasts is that a young Dumbledore would slay Voldemort.
All of Harry Potter summed up in less than 1 hour.... Impressive
Everyone always misses the fact that Voldemort had a portrait of himself at Hogwarts. Granted this was only in the movies. It was shown before the final actor was casted. I think it was in the second movie when the griffindors are on their way to their dorm at when their dorm is at the top of the moving stairs. You can see the painting to the right of the stairs directly next to the entry to their dorm. Even tho I know this is a movie easter egg, I always wondered how that would be explained in-universe.
It’s not canon so it doesn’t matter.
It's a movie easteregg, nothing more.
Actually it's a portrait of a vampire, not Voldemort. Even though it looke similar to Voldemort, it's not, it's a vampire
So at one point in time, there were two versions of Lord Voldemort in the world, one in the form of a weak ghost in Albania, and Tom Riddle in the chamber of secrets.
Yup and if that version in chamber of secrets has succeeded in taking Ginny's life, the real Voldemort would have returned even stronger than he was before.
Voldemort is so underrated, he's one of the greatest villains
He really is.
Who is under rating him? This is such a fanboy comment
@@kenhammscousin4716 Over the last few years he's become a bit of a meme and since Grindelwalds appearance people downplay him. I'm sorry this comment had such a profound effect on you, you needed to get pressed about my opinion bro.
He is great but not my favorite Lich, that place got taken by kel'thuzad :D
I personally think Grindelwald is not only more dangerous but also more interesting than Voldemort
Loved the video. So much history. And that background music is the best. Good or bad every character your channel does gets the full attention and respect to the lore.
dumbledoor does reply when riddle asks if parseltongue is common. something like “unusual but not unheard of”
Who else loves Harry Potter?
Me
Eh it’s overrated but not bad
I love it
He's fun in the Afterlife
Yes
Who else wants to see the first war with order of the Phoenix before Harry Potter time.
Good job on not having overbearing background music. This was the most I could bear. I liked this video.
Merope used Amortentia, the world’s strongest love potion, to charm Tom Sr. into loving her. That’s why Voldemort can’t love. He was concived under the effects of the potion and his mom’s obssesive infatuation
Yep, though I do wonder if he would've chosen a different path if he was raised by a responsible family rather than in an orphanage. I also think his attitude was likely worsened by the fact that he believed that his muggle father only left his mom because she was a witch. Nonetheless, there's no doubt that he was more prone to choosing the path he showed, since he was conceived in a coerced way
@@technoloverish I think he would’ve ended in a similar way. He exhibited sociopathic tendencies from a very young age. In the books it’s more explicitly explained on how poorly he treats his followers and his disregard for human life
Remember his family suffered from mental disorders normally was his father Maine arrogant but his mother side of family were succumbing to the effect of incest and inbreeding that meant mental instability even though hes inherited his father's jeans to counteract some of the odd effect he was still though born with mental disorders beyond that of an ordinary person Whether it was the love potion or his family's jeans hes just a wired wrong.
@@edwardvolcan14 but the reason for this is because he cant love or feel love
That , and the psychopathic tendencies running in his family .
Thank you very much.
I feel like this video has filled much of the gaps left the movies.
crazy how much harry and tom mirror each other.
"It's not how you are alike, Harry. It's how you are not."
@@s.p.d.magentaranger1822the biggest difference is Harry is able to accept his own mortality.
Kinda makes you wonder how a whole school of magical wizards couldn’t foresee a psychopath doing exactly what a psychopath would do.
I don't think it was a case of them not forseeing it, but more so the combination of Voldemort's extreme proficiency in manipulation as well as a number of mistakes made by various people, such as Slughorn disclosing information to Riddle about horcruxes, but then altering the memory out of shame and regret and not informing anyone about the risk they posed. Dumbledore ignored the obvious signs when he visited Tom at the orphanage, both out of good will of wanting to give him a chance, as well as not wanting to harm some kid. By the time Voldemort had manipulated a group of Slytherins into being Death Eaters (a trivial task given the already strong pro-pure blood views held by many Slytherins), it was already too late as he had gained too much power and had already set up numerous horcruxes as a fail safe. Ultimately, Voldemort very likely would have gotten away with it if not for his own arrogance. His over-confidence in his ability to kill Harry whenever he wanted caused him to also make a number of crucial laspes of judgement that resulted in his death.
It doesn't even matter that it was without audio, but the second that idiot Fudge utters, "He's back!" every TIME I cannot help but shout, "NO SHIT, CORNELIUS!" Every time.
Man it must suck to be arguably the most powerful wizard ever born only to ger killed on a bs technicality
I love how he uses the same music for most of them
Branching out I see, well done!
Agreed
I was thinking about this video earlier today!
39:18 Belated thank you, Sir Robert Hardy for being the host and narrator of the Castle Ghosts mini-docuseries.. RIP..
Great video, currently enjoying it as watching! 🤩
The fact that Voldemort is a half-blood has to be the greatest irony there is. Imagine if Hitler was Jewish XD
yeah...imagine lol
I hope so, just for him to roll in his petty grave somewhere in Argentina or whatever Latin American lands he could think of escaping to.
@@GabagoolGangHe wasn't tbh. Though it is a lie that the NSDAP had that much of a problem with Jewish people: it was at least a plan to assimilate people with Jewish heritage. They were scapegoated at the start, attention switched to condemning Marxism though. Beyond this, I am not qualified to elaborate, I just privately studied thie stuff over the years.
He's literally the darkest wizard in Harry Potter Even before his birth he was born out of darkness his mother drugged his father using magic and conceived him to unnatural means making him basically the something that should never have existed on his own he's an Anomaly so he shouldn't exist that but he does and whenever he goes, He reeks havoc everywhere he went ,you know he
was Wizard butt he was capable of things that no Wizard was ever capable of doing before he really was the dark Lord.
Really true
Can you use periods please
Like a doll’s eyes. Black eyes. Black eyes. When he doesn’t even seem to be livin’… ’til he doesn’t even seem to pieces. When he come in and despite all you hear that terrible high-pitched screamin’. The ocean turns red, and your poundin’ and your eyes. When your hollerin’ those black eyes. And then you hear that terrible high-pitched screamin’. The ocean turns red, and… the thing about a sharks come in and despite and then… ah then… ah they rip you to be livin’… ’til he come in and they rip your dick out.

A tom riddle spin off would be perfect great video you deserve more views and subscribers
If I remember correctly, It was a Love Potion Toms mother gave to His father to make him love her, however in the harry potter Lore, this comes at a serious Cost.
If the two have a Child, the child will be born without the ability to understand or have themselves feel Love in any form permanently. and since Tom/Voldemort was conceived before Toms Father was freed from the Potions Control, Voldemort would pay the price of his mother using a Love potion, His own ability to feel, understand or reciprocate love itself, the power of Love to which ironically would become his downfall.
Probably the best harry potter vid I've seen! Keep it up 💪
Really cool how so many of the mysteries in Harry Potter are just working backwards to unraveling the crazy stuff Voldemort did.
Imagine all the grief and stress he would of avoided if he had just killed baby harry the old fashioned way😂
😂😂😂 you a damn fool.
Yeah man. Pull out a glock or stab the baby with knife and would be over
Imagine if he had gone for Neville instead.
What if Obito obtained Shisui's eye?

The heir of Hufflepuff dying by poisoned cocoa is fairly on brand
Great video. Thanks for this
What I dont get, is how did Tom wear the Gaunt ring at Hogwarts without getting Dumbledore's attention. The ring may not have been anything to him at all but the stone, that would have gotten Dumbledore's attention. Dumbledore would have known what that stone was and been very interested in it the second he saw it, especially since at that point he already had the Elder Wand.
If i recall correctly, Dumbledore’s duel with Grindelwald didn’t happen until the end of Riddle’s hogwarts years or after, so he wouldn’t have had the elder wand just yet.
He would also have to look closely at the ring, which would be very strange for a professor, taking unusual interest in a student’s jewelry. I don’t think he would look closely enough to realize what it was.
I have a question. When you said he went to Azkaban to free his loyal companions and the dementors were willing to obey him. What if they didn't? He cannot produce a patronus charm. So what could he do if they didn't obey him?
Perhaps he could be immune to them, to considers that he divided his soul in the Horcruxes, making that he hasn't a soul that the Dementors can suck.
@@josecuestas7246 I suppose. Thanks.
He never doubted that the dementors would follow him cuz they feed and thrive on pain and dispair and they knew voldemort would cause the most of that
They suck up your happiness, I'm not sure he could feel it in the 1st place lol
Voldemort did not go to Azkaban, the dementors broke them out and defected to Voldemort, because as dumbledore explains at the end of the Goblet of Fire “ they will not remain loyal to you fudge they will join him the instant he asks them to, Voldemort can offer them more scope for their powers and pleasures than you can”.
The dementors joined Voldemort and helped the break out of the death eaters.
These should be in a podcast. I don’t need the images just the story.
Voldemort isn't equal to Dumbledore, he fears him because he can't win a one on one with him
Dumbbledore was twice his his age. Of course he was stronger
@@6ftmouse349 And until his death he was the master of the Elder Wand.
@@vismortis That would not matter if Voldemort actually reached his his potential aka not do 7 horcrux and not get his original body destroyed , those things severaly weakened him, As wizards age they seem to become more powerful so the fact that Dumbledore was a good 50 years older gives him an obvious advantage, even Dumbledore admitted that Voldemort was the most brilliant student in Hogworts and both were students there so this also implies that Voldemort had the potential to become even more powerful than Dumbledore (and imo he did surpass him in the first war until the moment he got killed by plot , interestingly enough Dumbledore had to answer to Voldemort that time, they just simply got lucky and won)
Dumbledore and Grindelwald had a three hout long epic duel. Dumbledore and Voldemort threw hands for about 10 minutes, before he ran out of tactics, was seen and had to run. Clearly even at old age, Dumbledore was still stronger than Voldemort.
He made a teen boy do it
15:42 - That is not a goblin xD
That's Dobby, a house elf. Goblins are the ones that work at Gringots and I'm assuming other aspects of world. They face similar but separate issues, mostly in that house elves are functionally enslaved where as goblins are mostly just restricted from wand use and have differing views over ownership of individual works/output.
What I find hillarious is that James seriously tried to fight Voldemort without a wand😂
That and that Lilly didn't apparate with Harry.
Dude! So good! Great content! 😃
They should def be a new series of movies detailing toms life and stay at hogwarts.
Fun Fact: Amazon hires parceltongues to move parcels along faster, that's how you get one day shipping. The More You Know!
I don't know the books but in the movies I think they failed to make him seem very powerful at all. He comes off as being bold because he's immortal, once he loses that and has to fight on equal terms as everyone else for the first time he gets destroyed instantly lol
Voldemort and Credence have more raw power than anyone.. especially Voldemort. Dude almost broke the elderwand 😂
the elderwand breaking had nothing to do with his amount of power and everything to do with it not being loyal to him and him not being the "owner" of the wand.
@Lions1986 true but it was fine until he unleashed a massive stream of power out of it😂😂
@@Lions1986 The wand resisted him but could not handle the amount of power he channeled and therefore it almost broke.
The elder wand was breaking with Voldemort because he was not the true owner how thicc do you have to be
