Curious how long it takes your oven to heat up to temperature
@@GardnersGarage No instagram for me, my oven takes about 20 minutes to get the part to temp, the oven takes a little longer but the part temp is what matters.
Do ever have problems with residual color coming out in the next spray. I clean the crap out of this thing and can't get the sea foam green completely out. I keep seeing tiny flakes of it in the black I'm spraying.
I've changed colors probably a couple hundred times now, never once seen residual color. Are you blowing your lines and the gun out? I've found the line is the place color likes to stick to the most, it can get clumpy in the latex. I usually hold it up to the paint booth light and look for dark spots then beat on that spot and blow it out. I'm always worried about residual but so far fingers crossed I haven't come across it. What gun are you using?
I have been looking at up grading to a Hyper smooth 03 led, how has it been working for you? Currently I am using a Eastwood gun from 1998
It has been pretty good. It's the only powder coat gun I've ever used so I have nothing to compare it against but I'm brand new to powdercoating and have had pretty good results with a few exceptions. First metallics seem to be a struggle with the wide mouth nozzle, not sure if that is true with all metallics or just the metallics from Columbia Coatings. Second, quality control is not good. Mine came with 1 hopper and I ordered 4 more and every one of them leaks. Third their customer service while not bad isn't what I would call good either. That being said, the gun and system are really good. The adjustment valve for the line/hopper pressure is exceptional and adjusting the KV on this unit will absolutely make a difference depending on what you are trying to do. I'm not sure if I would buy it again only because of the quality control issues with the hoppers and their not super customer service but on the whole I think it's a really good system if you replace the OEM hoppers. Also their paints are reasonably priced and other than their metallics really good quality.
