I learned so much about movies and their history from Elwy. I watched Magic Shadows and Saturday Night at the Movies, every chance I got. Mostly. lol. I was a kid, and some of the movies didn't really appeal to me. But this did. Sci-fi was well into my wheelhouse back then and I loved the serials. Still do, I suppose. (: Thanks so much for uploading this, Retrontario!
Wasn't he an athlete his entire life, breaking age records in his senior years? For someone who wore a hat when they bleached his hair for Flash because he wasn't comfortable with the attention, he seems to have relaxed more here, decades later, his accessories are cool. Always a good looking dude & seemingly a natural on-screen, his 1st lead in 1933, King of the Jungle, he plays kind of a reverse Tarzan who speaks NO English for the beginning of the film & he's really good, with NO dialogue. Next year in We're Rich Again he plays dumb jock swimmer named Erp, this time he's hilarious with almost no clothing or dialogue, until the conclusion where he turns out to be millionaire law student who saves the day with soliloquy about the law (Crabbe was going to go to law school if Hollywood didn't work out after a year, fortunately for us it did). I never understood why MGM went with Weismuller for Tarzan, now glad they did, we got Flash & Buck instead!
Your "annoying" is part of his charm to me, he represents the audience by displaying our unalloyed enthusiasm, why we could watch him & learn every Saturday nite.
I LOVED this show when I was a kid and because of this show it introduced me to great films and the love of them, thank you Elwy :)

There is a lack of Larry interviews on yt - so appreciate this vid.
I'd love to see more of this. It's a fantastic find imo (which is not unusual for this channel, but this one just appeals to me in particularly).
What a treat. Thank you Retrontario!
I MISS Elwy Yost and "Saturday Night at the Movies" on TV.
Buster was a cool looking old guy.

Old cool Hollywood.
god Elwy was annoying... but he interviewed some amazing people
Elwy was a fan being a fan!
If you were sitting next to your Hollywood favs, you'd act the same way... If not worse.
