LYRICS
A dark and moonless night
Has never felt so right
An empty mirror only shows what's left inside
Lost in the city street
Electric tapestry
The neon beckons me beyond its ghostly light
No longer I pretend
The staircase I descend
Will lead me anywhere but my unscripted end
My heart and hands collide
The gun lays at my side
Too late to turn back, only fate’s left to decide
Magnum bullets
Settling a score
Magnum bullets
Kicking down the door
Back up the stairs again
I am a different man
A broken mirror only shows as best it can
Running in shoes that shine
With blood that isn't mine
A staining trophy of the battles I've survived
No longer I defend
The choices I pretend
Could make amends that heal the loss of precious time
My conscience paralyzed
Against the rising tide
Of haunting memories that drown a wasted life
Magnum bullets
Always wanting more
Magnum bullets
Closing every door

I've always appreciated the detail of the Lone Wolf Gunslinger loading the last round of his revolver with a golden bullet for the one obsessed with acquiring gold.
Oh shit, I never noticed it was a golden bullet. I absolutely love these animators. They're SO fucking talented. Little things like that are everywhere in every video they make.
@@jortalus You probably didn't notice it was gold since bullets are usually made from brass but it is much more thematic to imagine it's gold.

This is a fucking Masterclass in scene transitions. From a platter of wine glasses to the cylinder of a revolver, to the barrel of said revolver turning into a stripper pole. This should be shown in any cinematography class
Corpse with splayed legs and hands resting palms-up on the thighs, cuts to man sitting with briefcase resting on his hands between splayed legs, about to open the briefcase.
Reaching to lift the wine from the bucket cuts to pulling the katana from the scabbard.

Long story short: missed.
It doesn't matter how many times I watch this. The sequence with Triangle riding the bullet always makes me feel a wave of emotions. Phenomenal animation.
there are so many things i love about this music video;
- just. ALL the transitions at the start of the video, cutting between the Golden Bull and the club, and the wolves (Triangle, Star, Square) suiting up. it's all framed SO well (especially the wine tray turning into the revolver, then the revolver turning into a stripper pole)
- on that note the transitions all throughout the video are absolutely incredible
- the designs of all the characters are killer, even the background characters (like the lizard(?) at 1:51)
- "i am a different man" lining up with the shot of Triangle at the start of the video transforming into his vengeance-driven angry self
- the little spin he does as he walks towards the Bull is really cute and well animated also LMAO
- EVERYTHING about the shots where the Bull breaks Star's sword, with the sword shards reflecting Star and Square and making the whole scene super dynamic
- the MAAAAAGNUMMM BUUUULLETTSSSS bit. just. the entire shot. Triangle dancing in time with the lyrics and acting them out, then falling to his knees and screaming in anguish and the expressions and emotions are done SO WELL. plus the bullet flying through the symbols of his friends, including Circle, since he fired that bullet for them
- Triangle not even looking back to get the gold, all he wanted to do in the end was avenge Circle
literally just the entire music video is incredible, Knights of the Light Table do unbelievably good jobs with animation
agreed, but it's actually a moose, not a bull
@@pseud53 I mean, it's a male moose, therefore a bull moose.
@@FlanFlanScarlet is it a misfire? I just thought it was a visual representation of the weight of the gun dropping to the ground.
My favourite thing about the last scene is the way he just makes the avenging shot, drops the gun, walks away. He knows he won’t get anything real from this moment. An act of revenge that leaves both Bull and Triangle with nothing.
@@camb06 the way I see it, it's not just revenge. Triangle knows he's lost something he'll never get back, but I've always seen him taking out moose as him saying "I won't let you do to anyone else, what you did to me." Maybe I'm wrong though.

@@rugxulo oh my GOD IT'S AN ANAGRAM
@Romulus Rattus Yeah, that's the metric I use, and going by that, there have been furries around since at least ancient Egypt. There and Native American culture is where I got into the fandom in the early '00's (On top of being a Disney kid of the 90's)...can't say I regret it. Watched a vid a while back at a con where a dude who was a furry and a statistician was giving a presentation on the little survey data he could collect (this is about 2008 I believe, and mostly online) that most furries join the fandom around 14-18yrs. and have usually left by age 25 and the whole fandom seems to skew 90/10 male/female and about the same for gay/straight.
I believe this is why Furries get a bad rap. Almost all people in the fandom are going through puberty while most of the established artists are adults while also being gay dudes...so the whole sex and style angle should be par for the course. Why is there a ton of porn on the net of superhero's? Young boy audience, older male artists, brought together by cool concepts and designs...but it really is a double whammy for most who come from religious conservative families. You're doubly immoral, you're a sodomite and an animal fucker...but lets just gloss over the fact that EVERYTHING is a capital offense in the bible. Worked on Sunday? Dead. Wore a mix of fabrics? Dead. Shaved your beard? Dead. Your daughter wasn't a virgin on her wedding night? Husband, go stone her in front of her father's house...and don't make fun of bald people or god might send two bears to maul you and 42 of your friends...good rules...
We also love to ignore the fact that Homo Sapiens is the classification of an animal, with all the boons and baggage that entails. Hell, many of us still operate much of the time using the ancient, unchanged remnants of the reptilian brain deep within our own...
Primal fear, unbridled lust, self-centered destructiveness...common calling cards of we creatures called humans...only I'd argue we are far more dangerous because most animals cannot grasp concepts like honor and justice while mainly concerning themselves with survival so they will find no need to push the aforementioned emotions to a heightened state. We humans however have a brain so big that it can create an artificial world within the mind that appears to be reality where we can spontaneously create conditions that can send us rocketing in any number of directions in a reality which we may be completely blind to, or perhaps see through subtle distortions and incomplete pieces, like the multitude of jagged shards of broken mirror, a million shades of the same light...
When Arin and Danny shoot a gun: “Missed”. When a wolf shoots a gun: dances on said bullet before one shotting a robo-moose
Sean-O of Mars yes but the question is did he mean to shoot the robo moose

*pushes up glasses* You, my friend, are sorely mistaken. Only a fool would mistake that for a robo-moose. This creature is clearly a holo-antelope!

@@falconJB Nah, the TTRPG version of Cyberpunk had Exotics that were people, usually rich and bored people, who biosculpted themselves to look like animals or aliens. So this could totally fit in the Cyberpunk world easily. Hell, there was an entire gang whose whole gimmick was that they had biosculpted themselves to look like the characters and various alien races from Star Trek. The harmonies Dan layers on and the meaning behind the lyrics make this line unforgettable to me. The pain in his voice, the rise of the music behind it, the fact that he feels so much has gone to hell because of the need for revenge for a wrong he'll never right and the decision to follow that path causing a wave of regret that he'll never escape, it's incredible how much is said with so few words. "So I shot. And I danced. And I missed.
...oh, wait, nope, got him."
Watching that, I don't think it's so much a dance move in battle as him double-checking that no one else but the boss is left. He starts forward, sweeps around to check (looking like he's dancing), and moves forward again.

I love the recurring symbolism in this. Each one of the three fighers has a glowing symbol on their forehead - a triangle for the main protagonist, and a star and square for the other two. A glowing circle is the symbol of the one killed at the very beginning. At 1:20, the coins and bleeding circle show the protagonist weighing in his mind whether the stolen gold or his murdered friend are his real motivation; we see this indecision depicted again as the bullet flies upwards through a mix of falling gold and falling bodies. When the three finally enter the club however, glowing circles appear on the screens, showing they're not there for the gold that was stolen; they're there because of their fallen friend. When the protagonist fires his last bullet, we see it not only fly through a square and a star - because it was shot to protect his companions - but right before it hits the villain, it flies through a glowing circle, because it was also shot to avenge the one he lost. Finally, as the main protagonist walks away - not even caring about the gold - we see him transform into his fallen friend, to show that his spirit lives on in him.
Masterfully done.
Well said. Came to make this exact comment lol
The lyrics are important too. It's a song about the futility of a life of violence, juxtaposed with a video telling a story of violent revenge. When gun wolf fires his last shot and there's a smaller version of himself pouring his heart out in a very out of character moment compared to the rest of the video, I believe it's probably his conscience. He's throwing away a part of himself every time he commits an act of violence, regardless of whatever justification he comes up with for it, and it hurts him deeply.
I saw the last scene as a sadder one. His friend is still dead and the revenge didnt bring him back and he is just hit by that.
Nice analysis, I just thought people would be making furry jokes, but no, here you are bravo
And the symbolism that comes on firing the bullet, of him dancing on it, and the agony he feels, knowing that he's getting his revenge, but it won't stop his pain.
The visual themes and direction are so stunning. Like the bullet flying through the neon symbols of all the living wolf pack members and the the final shape the bullet flys through is a circle- not in neon, but the exit wound it creates, for the fallen member of their group. I love how the circle was given to the fallen wolf and represents the circular nature of revenge, like what goes around comes around. I could gush for hours. It's such a great song and such fantastic animation.
him riding the final bullet and expressing his pain as it flies is such an inspired and visceral choice.
3:22 The moment you go from the elation of claiming your revenge to the agony of realizing that it will not bring back the ones you love.
Very true. Though at the very least, those thugs won't be taking anymore of anyone's loved ones ever again.
Too real
So stunningly beautiful
I'd argue that 3:59 is a better example of this.
your right, it just leaves you hallow and with out propose. there still gone and now you have become what you have hated.

@@aguyuno yes! And the drink tray into the revolver!
wish my transition was that smooth dang
There’s so many little details and artistic choices.
Like how the moose boss bleeds gold blood while everyone else has purple blood.
Or how each of the wolves seems to kinda match their shape a bit. Like, the star wolf has the pointed shoulder pads and spiky hair. The square one has a slightly blockier shape. The triangle wolf has a more triangular torso and shows off his pointed teeth more often. And the circle wolf has more curves with their fur.
Then there’s the backgrounds looking like an oil or watercolor painting (especially in the water and when the wolf shoots upward), in contrast to the clear smooth lines of all the characters and objects.
It shows a lot of thought and care went into this.
Here I am back watching this again. What I wouldn't give to see this as a full length movie...
Same, a prequal or follow up of any length would be wonderful
“You think the wolf did this?” “Not a doubt in my mind.”

keiiilalei but mostly it’s not afraid to speed up so you have to watch it 3 times and once in slow motion to let it sink in
It's really nice and works at some moments but I feel it does that too much. Long shots should be used a little more sparingly. The cuts and transitions are really fluid but they don't sync with the soundtrack as often as it should. Nearly 30% of the video is a few frames off in addition to being too slow when the song prompts it to speed up.
As an editor, I might make my own cut. I really like the story it's trying to tell and would be fun to mess with.
After working with it for a bit I've found the bits I have issue with. The speed ramps lack the impact I like as it is already slow when the slow motion hits. It needs a little more variety. Some parts of the action sequence (particularly the entrance because that flash of electricity seemed like it wanted to be synced with the music), a lack of cuts and close up of the characters in those scenes, and there was a flash frame at the end that was distracting. Still love it though. The animator did amazing work.
It’s like watching an 80s cartoon
Man. Two years later the emotion that's displayed along with that final fateful shot brings a tear to my eye everytime I see it. Such a perfect way encapsulate the weight and importance of what that means to the character.
I like how Triangle casually danced his way up there and shot the dude.
That last magnum bullet always gets to me. Such a profound way of showing the pain of loss and how revenge can be so bittersweet.
That anguish before passing through Star and Square and hitting Moose to symbolize their revenge was complete. *[chef kiss]*
Straight up. So powerful. That vocal high note belting out, the synth searing underneath it, the expressions and the movements of that wolf guy riding the bullet. Just so dam good.
Hey everybody, this person gets it.
"When you go on a quest for revenge, first dig two graves."
Really eh? Personally, that's the only part that pulls me out of the video and go "what the hell, is this REALLY the time to display anguish and pain through interperative dance? By having little wolfie dance on the fucking MAGNUM BULLET that's gonna end Evil Space Moose?"
Other then that (and a few animation errors with gold spilling out of the suitcase then the suitcase is still locked shut in the next segment) this video is fantastic, and Knights of the Light Table have a VERY bright future in animation if they can keep to this quality of work like this and Starlight Brigade.
The moment when the wolf is dancing on the bullet is my favourite part of an animation full of favourites. The combination of the dancing, then collapsing and singing along with the lyrics, complete with the phenomenal facial expressions was just *chefs kiss*
It a beautiful scene and is my favorite parts too.
Is it bad I could only think of the Wile E Coyote riding an Acme missle? 😅
Circle has to be either Triangle's brother or partner. That pain was far worse than losing a friend. Beautiful video.
Over two years, now. Still not old. Think this one's timeless, people.
I'm blown away by the animation and the incredible character design. Dan's beautiful voice is the cherry at the top of the cake. I'll play this on loop now
Agreed. The designs have such a recognizable silhouette, and the color choices are impeccable.
Simply surprised to see camila here
Fancy seeing you here, Camila
@@v.m.ancheta I've seen her around a lot of places with original animation, and it always warms my heart to see her giving encouragement :)
Didn't expect to see you here Camila
The only problem I have with this song is that I can't leave it in the background while I play games, I must watch the beautiful animation
Me too man
This is true
That's a good problem to have XD
Sooooooo True
Hmmm. Quite the conundrum.
This brings back so many fond memories of Duran Duran music videos from the 80s. I love that there is still such a passion for this music style.
And the animation is so smooth and detailed! I love the transitions and the interpretive depth of the story telling.
This absolutely deserves to be one of those ten hour loops.
Just wanna point this out real quick, but the wolf didn't just lose his lover, but his entire pack as well. Star didn't die because she accompanied him, and Square was knocked unconscious and was assumed to be dead by their attackers.
Anyways, the animation here is stunning, especially the final bullet shot where Triangle pours out all his grief and emotion in the loss of his lover. Absolutely gorgeous work, guys!
I thought that Circle was his brother, and that he was a scammer or something like that, that's why they were looking for him (in the credits you can see a wanted poster).
@@marianelacardin3416 Seems to me like it's left open-ended on purpose, as any bond strong enough will cause us to snap if it's taken away from us.
Star: while you all partied, i studied the blade.
Square: while you all partied, i studied the... mechanical... claw arm... thing.
Tri:

Tri: gun go boom.
*Tri: six bullets... more than enough to kill anything that moves.
@@charliedulol you're... pretty good!
@@richardstierwalt2874 ...but I'm better.
gun go dance
Gun gun boom boom
I'M GOING TO PRINT OUT, PULVERIZE AND SNORT EVERY SINGLE FRAME OF THIS VIDEO
for the sake of those like me who are scrutinizing over every frame to find every bit of detail possible, please don't.
As an example of those details, the credits scene with miss blade/star wolf that has the news bulletin on circle wolf? the scrolling banner on the bottom is readable, and although it blurs completely at moments, it actually says "[unreadable bit] connection with the casino fire. Suspect was last seen wearing a grey shirt with a circle [unreadable]"
So there's a bit of a darker story here, and i'm all for it.
WHY DOESNT THIS HAVE MORE LIKES
thank you for being born so you can comment this.
FUCK YEAH THAT'S THE KIND OF ENERGY WE WANT TO SEE THE KIND THAT WILL PIERCE THE HEAVENS
I remember when Dan mentioned Night Runner in passing so long ago. It's cool to see them work together
I'd love to see a full movie with these characters and the story but the god tier animation would be horiffically expensive to turn into a movie. Incredible work everyone involved and danny's vocals fit beautifully
Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to another episode of WHY ISN'T THIS A TV SHOW with Dan Avidan!
Boring answer: Probably because it'd be hella expensive to produce more than a 4-minute clip.
But what a damn waste, right? The amount of characters they invented for the few still images in the outro alone, all that storytelling without a single word, I would watch THE SHIT out of this if it were a TV show.
Honestly we're lucky enough to see such a phenomenal sight as this animation
We'd be even luckier to get a movie of this on Netflix
Coming up next is an unknown animation by the name of, Starbarians!
Because it's the Beastars version of Cyberpunk?
Because a UA-cam show wouldn't be terribly ruined by the companies that rule TV or Netflix.
Nailed the 80's sound in the vocals; the chorus sounds kinda like Duran Duran - Save a Prayer
I thought more, Depeche Mode
but yeah, Dan's got so a fucking hard-on driving singing voice
This song chills me to my soul. Paired with the mind-blowing animation, I will constantly listen to this song, and I'll cry every time.
IDK which was more badass, the music, or the video. Damn. Just damn.
I love how the Protagonists wolves surround the antagonist Elk, just like wolves would do during a hunt.
Honestly I thought it was a moose!
@@Karvosh That very well may be true
The animator gave the ' Moose ' the name Big Bad Stag and the wolves the names by their shapes. Star ( was originally an X but somebody pointed out that their shapes were starting to look like the shapes of the Playstation buttons. )
And it is a stag so it's even more fitting.
I look at that guy and all I hear is the name Buck Stagg
He literally put all his pain and emotion into that one bullet. Cant believe that gave me goosebumps.
Same here.
This style is really something I want to see more of.
Literally same the vocals and animation coalesced so well and it just sent chills down my spine. An absolute novel of a music video i was genuinely moved.
that part gave me chills!
I love how he's riding the bullet, and is emotionally singing/dancing with the song......
That part made me tear up.
This seriously deserves a place among the greatest music videos ever made.
The way Danny sings the A in magnum just hits a spot in my brain that makes me need to rewind that part.
"Running in shoes that shine
With blood that isn't mine
A staining trophy of the battles I've survived "
I really like that part.
I do remember Danny saying he liked the video for Caravan Palace-Lone Dagger, and, well, here we are
Do you remember when he said that?
I also got that vibe from this
This felt like a spiritual successor to that video
Spyder's Webb yeahhhhh! It really did!
This is like the aftermath of such a brawl, with a similar aesthetic too! More androids though.
God that scene when he’s on the bullet during the chorus gives me chills every time!!
"The broken mirror only shows as best it can."
This lyric is magic.
“You think the WOLF is causing the accidents?”
Good reference
No doubt in my mind
Nope wherever he fired he missed
Mark my wuff
meeyussed.
Alternate theory: Dan is Triangle wolf avenging Arin who is circle wolf, after Arin bet it all on 23 and won
This needs to be far higher. Here, take a like!
This theory...I shall support it
Tri and Circle were canonically a couple, so....
@@torazely they look like brothers.. o_o
@@torazely There's a canon? Where?
he shot that bullet with so much passion, I'm really surprised that the villain didn't explode...
These music videos are ridiculous. They made an entire plot and designed a whole cast of characters and animated it so beautifully for a 4 minute video, there’s so much content in here and I love imagining what this world is like
Not going to lie. The part where Triangle Wolf takes down Holostag, the emotion riding on that one bullet. The scream of pain from him is just so emotional.
I knowwwww, cannot stop rewatching that part. His entire dance riding the bullet is so damn expressive
I keep rewinding it, it is SUCH a good piece of animation
It's top notch. Goosebumps and welling tears.
It's incredible!!!! It's the first thing I say to people who haven't seen it
I cry everytime.
can we talk about how *flawless* it was when the camera circled over the wine glasses and turned into the rounds on the pistol?
Sav Edits or the hand grabbing a wine bottle turned into a hand grabbing a sword? Freaking incredible.
Or just the detail of the rifling on the first bullet fired upward.
Out of all the incredibly stylish aspects of the animation, those holo-antlers have gotta be among my favorite parts. Really makes him stand out.
This is exactly the type of music that fits Dan's voice perfectly. Resonant, retro, ethereal. Love to hear more of this type of thing from him someday.
The quality of the animation is unbelievable and Dan's vocals are a blessing. We're so grateful to be part of this!!!
I heard this animation helped get you guys on Spotify, is that true? If so, I'm glad. Found you guys from this, been listening to your other content on there because of it. It's great.
I hope you guys do more collabs like this with Dan. This was a killer combo, both your music and his vocals remind me of the 80s stuff I love that few bother to replicate or iterate on today. This was hands down your best song, and, imo, Dan's best song too. It's like your music and his voice were made for each other. I'm shocked this has been around for over 2 years, why is it only getting animated just now? XD
If you guys want other vocal collab ideas, you should also consider collabing with Mystery Skulls or Shelby Merry. Either of them would make a killer combo as well.
Good Job peeps keep up the good work
Outstanding work on the music in this! I’m glad this video introduced me to you: your music has such a good atmospheric vibe!
@@PenMarkArt welcome aboard, kick up your feet and stay a while it's a hell of a ride
Absolutely killer!
I want this to be an anime so badly
Maybe even be in the same universe as Starlight brigade
Tequila MockingBird second this
i need to find a way to like this comment more than once.
10 wolf jobs out of 10
I think the full animation is genuinely beautiful, but the facial expressions at 3:25 are DAMN gorgeous.
Emotion flowing out of every frame.
Me: There is no way to follow up Starlight Brigade.
*This drops*
Pikachu: :o
Its true
I prefer starlight brigade
This song has been out for years! Dan sings it as a guest appearance for Nightrunner- who don't normally have lyrics in their songs
