From the staff at www.stompintom.com
We must regretfully announce today the passing of the Great and Patriotic Stompin' Tom Connors. He died this March 6th 2013 with his Family seeing him off. His family have given us a message from Tom that he wanted passed along to all of you upon his death:
"Hello friends, I want all my fans, past, present, or future, to know that without you, there would have not been any Stompin' Tom."
"It was a long hard bumpy road, but this great country kept me inspired with it's beauty, character, and spirit, driving me to keep marching on and devoted to sing about its people and places that make Canada the greatest country in the world."
"I must now pass the torch, to all of you, to help keep the Maple Leaf flying high, and be the Patriot Canada needs now and in the future."
"I humbly thank you all, one last time, for allowing me in your homes, I hope I continue to bring a little bit of cheer into your lives from the work I have done."
Sincerely,
Your Friend always,
Stompin' Tom Connors

I'll miss you with my heart good buddy ;) see you on the other side ,when I get there. say hi to my mama for me!
Well said son...
R.I.P one of the greatest singers ever! your music will never die!
Wow, thanks! I had always wondered what he was singing. I knew it was French, but I couldn't make out the words. It looks like the English lyrics singing are a translation of the preceding French lyrics.
R.I.P. I just found Stompin ' Tom not even a few yrs ago, and have been a fan ever since! My sympathies and thoughts to family and friends of his, I'm sure he was a helluva guy!!!
Awesome how Stompin' Tom takes everyday events and gives them the respect they deserve!
Thanks for the great memories! My parents had a few albums and as a kid I listened to them over and over. Only got to see you perform once, but at least that bucket item has been checked! It was a great one in Kemptville in the summer of 2006. R.I.P.
Canada rocks,,,,,When people of our nation pass away and leave such a legacy, it reminds us of how proud we are to be part of such a wonderful country. Thanks for being who you were and singing about this great home we call Canada. RIP
Never wil forget a wonderful evening spent with STOMPIN TOM at the Lewis home in 1973. Got to sing and play with him. The best entertainer we ever met. Will never forget you TOM. God be with you. Frank and Patsy Green
Does anyone remember the tv show that had this song as a theme song?? It came out in the 90's.
RIP Tom!!!!! Canada feels different without you.
R.I.P!
The French lyrics were written by Nicole Dumont, and the name of the song is Hommage aux bucherons. Amuse-toi!
Stompin' Tom will live forever aslong as we keep this song in our hearts.
Et pour passer la soirée, il cause avec ses copains Il chante à sa belle qu'il se mariera le primptemps prochain I think the french lyrics goes like that, have fun ;-)
Keep on stompin' Tom...
Launching jumps on a iqr: Meh Boondocking on a pro rmk: OK i guess Hillclimbing with turbos: Whoo, now what? Riding 30+ year old vintage sleds: HOLYCRAPTHISISAWESOMEIMUSTBEGOINGSOFASTTHISISTHEBESTTHINGEVER!!!!!!!
Aside from changes to make the lyrics fit, it's nearly the same as the english verses.
I rode a MXZRev800 Stompin' Tom. Thanks for singing about my favorite pastime. You're a true CANADIAN hero...
He was a Canadian Icon...RIP
grapes should smack drake, say he doesn't listen to him enough
True Canadian, great enertainer and unforgetable songs. R.I.P Stompin Tom, saw you in Shawville QC, at the fair.

RIP Stompin tom
I like how there are no sponsor logos on the boards of the rinks back then!
Oh my god... I just now realise how lucky I was. When i was in about grade four or five my school went on a field trip to a different school to see stomping tom and his band perform. They sang this song and pretty much all of his other ones, but i just now realise how little i appreciated him and never thought how lucky I was. Though, im hanging the autograph he gave me in my room. RIP Stompin Tom
Stompin' Tom Connors- You will never be forgotten in my mind, any Canadians or anyone else who loved the game as much as you and me.
Agreed George
R.I.P. Tom. I'll never forget the awesome party at my dad's with you and brother Bill & Gary, and the Stompin board you presented dad with, that was on the wall for years. Thanx for the music and the memories. Char Lewis
