Hey - so in order to get DSNP would I need to have QMB already? I ask because currently I’m waiting on the application status on NJ with my online application for SLMB/QMB/QI etc I just turned 65 - 07/2024 I think I’ll just have SLMB covered but if not then I’ll dig a little into my monthly income with a supplement plan thru UHC (Plan N) and then pay the $175 Part B but IF I do get QMB am I then allowed to apply for DSNP? I don’t want to apply for anything because I’m afraid if I do until I have the results of the SLMB/QMB etc I’m afraid if I apply for anything else it will void out any existing applications but I have NJ FamilyCare until the end of 07/2024 so my question again is would I need to wait for the results on NJ Save and then I can apply for DSNP or I can apply now? .. I chose a supplement plan beginning August 1st 2024 but I am going to switch to Plan N because I don’t want advantage at the moment so I’ll be looking for a prescription plan also assuming I get PAAD (annual income is $18.5K) although I do have a traditional IRA I withdraw monthly from but that’s included with the 18.5K annual income

My home state is New Jersey! I would be more than happy to check your information with the 5 carriers offering DSNPS in NJ to see in real time since they have the ability to synch with NJ Medicaid systems . You can contact me directly at 609-496-8030 or email jwseniorinsurance@gmail.com and we can do it. We can check with United Healthcare, Horizon, Wellcare, Wellpoint and Aetna. If you had Family Care before what's happening now is that it is transitioning to "ABD Medicaid" which is essentially Medicaid for people also on Medicare instead of straight Family Care which is for non Medicare qualified members. I would hold off on applying for any plans until we know the result of the NJ Medicaid application. If you are denied QMB status and only get SLMB there are some other options available for SLMBs we can discuss as well that may be a good fit.

Call customer service and ask for the transportation vendor phone number. They will set you up with a ride if rides are offered on your policy
