WARNING: this one is a LOT shorter than what you might be used to! Personally, I think it's exactly the right length - I just wanna make sure nobody's disappointed when it's not super long, lol. It's short, but I'm still pretty proud of it :)
it'll still be fun too watch :)
that's what she-!! **gets carried off into the dark by three hooded figures never to be seen again**
It’s ok, Nick!🙂👍

Thank you for all of the excellent camera angles that were very thoughtfully posed to show similar parts of so many works of art.
Heh heh
Yeah
Me, at around 2:08: indeed
🤣🤣🤣
Oh my gosh I thought it was accidental at first. Now I'm realizing that it just keeps happening 😂
A lot of people only appreciate long videos, but I think we should appreciate shorter ones sometimes. After all its not about the size of the video, but the enjoyment you get from it.

I literally didn't get the joke at first because I was so interested in the unique features of this particular 3DS. It took until the video was over for me to wonder why the narration was so nervous-sounding.
i still dont get the joke...
@@RhinoNigel there's a penis in the background of every shot in this video
@@dewdew66hy omg lollllllll can’t believe I missed that. I’m usually immature af bout that
@@dewdew66hy wait thats the joke? Thats why he was on the brink of laughter throughout the video?
wait there was a joke?
A little short but smaller videos are good too, nice pair of easter eggs throughout as well. It's a good thing this rare DS trend didn't get shafted. You'd need balls to try and steal one of these from the Louvre.
¿Challenge accepted?
You’d be nuts to steal one of those
big or small, It's all about the right way to frame and present the subject.
In this case, less is more.
If I were to steal a cartridge for any reason. I would try to recreate it so I could keep the remade one and give the source it’s old one back.
NICE PAIR OF EASTER EGGS LMFAO
This video really captures the handheld ability of the 3DS. Can use one or two handed. Easy two button controls with joystick operability. Some may think the 3DS is too small to use effectively while learning about art, but those just don't how to use it right. There's a technique to getting everything just right that keeps you entertained and laughing and learning all over the Louvre. A great piece of hardware. The ancient Greeks would be proud of the small size and usability of the Nintendo 3DS brought to you specifically for The Louvre of Paris, France by Nintendo.
Incredible ™
Well it is an XL
Amen
I wish Nintendo would bring back pocketable small form factor handhelds
@@valoric4767 if you have men's pants the full size switch is in fact pocketable
Wow! That's nuts!
Who would have thought they had such a tool?
It sure is
Not me to be sure and precisely exact

XL too
Consider my opinion.. “re-evaluated”
So glad somebody had the balls to film in there, been waiting a long LONG time for this to drop.
Balls. Drop.
2:00 BALLS?!!?!!!!
He also filmed some balls if you caught that.
I hope this wasn't intentionally written
all of you have missed the fucking joke oh my god
This museum has a lot of balls to let its visitors use such an exquisite piece of hardware.
I would not be surprised, when those 3DS are cheaper then typical audio guide products of the 2012/2013 era.
I see what you did there lol

This is a very clever usage of such a small piece of machinery. Absolutely massive props to the louvre for taking such a small device and finding new and creative ways to use it to its full potential.
Yeah, David was pretty popular
It's sad to see Nintendo ditch the 3DS. It kept them alive through the Wii U's failure.
I actually bought a second 3DS (a new 3DS XL) early 2021 as they were getting more and more scarce and I wanted a decent console to play my DS and 3DS carts on.
we better stick with digital games then

same! I've been to the Louvre several times and the first time was very surprising
Man that’s nuts, I bet it could easily fit in one of your under the belt pockets! If I owned it I wouldn’t label it my junk. I think this 3ds is something every man should have.

I knew Nick might make a video on it at some point and even bet one of my friends he was filming it while on his Paris trip. Was gonna do it myself if he didn't ngl.
It's just such a cool concept. I had no idea they were still used either, iirc back in the day they used regular launch 3DS's too, nice to see they not only updated everything but kept it around. Was worried things like the map function might be lost to time.
Hopefully I'll finally get to realize my weird ass childhood dream after the pandemic!

that's really nuts, they had balls to make their own personal 3DS for such museum.
It's a great thing they went for the 3DS route instead of an iPad or something. It's much smaller, you can easily hold it with one hand and it's probably just as useful as a larger device.
Yes but modern devices have much better resolution. Don’t get me wrong I love Nintendo. But this is just dated as hell.

In cinema, the blocking process also involves working out the camera position and camera movement, and can impact the lighting design, set design, and more.
I think nick did this to get around youtube censorship. But in all honesty I love the 3ds because of it's software. It was kinda before its time. And now that 3ds is just inflated in price I feel kinda bad for people who didn't get to experience the 3ds to begin with.

it was obviously on purpose
When I visited the Louvre in 2017, I got the 3DS cartridge in Spanish from their gift shop before leaving the museum. It was primarily to allow my mom to use my 3DS and enjoy the Louvre too, since she doesnt know English that well. When I returned in 2018, I took my 3DS and the cartridge and after a quick update, I didnt need to rent the system from the museum anymore. Great memories!

1:16 nick showing off his two right hands, very nice
Not sure exactly what this is (the Louvre 3DS maybe) but always hyped to see a new Nick Robinson
It's definitely that one. Probably one of the labeled flat black models too. Not sure why he'd hype it up though, the software for it was dumped and cracked ages ago.
Edit: It's definitely not the blue-back "tour guide" model used in linked tours (of which less than 50 exist). There was an all-black "tourist" model as a rental however, I think about 500 of those exist, so that's probably it. I guess the pair of McDonalds DSi gave our boy a taste for Not For Retail consoles?
@@KiraSlith spoiled it 😔
@@ayle1312 My bad. If it's any consolation, I was guessing the wrong one. There are 3 different Louvre models, and the title implied it was his, which would require it be either the Guide or Tourist models, the latter being a flat black non-"New" 3DS XL with silver "Louvre Audio Guide" text on the lid, both were discontinued from the rental service some time ago. Hadn't even considered he might've gone jetsetting again, this time to France.
@@KiraSlith who would have thought there to be such depth to this lore :o
nice statues nick, really focusing on the important stuff
That was beautiful. Truly a Nick Robinson masterpiece
i love that you somehow always manage to find something completely niche and new every video to talk about, it’s always super interesting
This video is about, I want to say average length, there’s a lot of personality in it and the way it’s edited is really just better than how usuals longer videos are, if I had to recommend one or the other I’d go for a shorter video, they don’t usually get the chance to be watched
Okay these camera angles are _absolutely_ intentional. 😂 I feel so bad for laughing because it's art but dammit I appreciate the troll.
Definitely gonna come into this museum now! That is if the travel fees aren't too nuts
First the rare Mcdonalds ds + it's rare cartridge, and now the madman added this rare 3ds into his collection. (Nevermind the last part, this was commented before the premiere)

I love how every shot he shows happens to have a certain aspect of statue in the background. Really adds to the video!
Damn dude!! short video, sure but it’s never about the length, but rather the enjoyment you get from it! And it’s nuts how much i enjoyed this video dude, like it really felt like i was balls-deep in the action of using the 3DS to go around the museum! Wonderful job, truly!
I really want more vids like this… maybe a bit longer but I love these vids bro
The fact they chose to use a New 3DS XL over a simple app for your smartphone is just amazing for me, this shows how much potencial the 3ds still has, hoipe I have a chance to go there one day.
Lmao the dongs photobombing 💀
Nick likes to show us different kinds of pp, thanks Nick for the pp showcase
Yeah i was there too earlier this year.
It’s a nice touch of tech getting your info from a Nintendo 3DS…propably the best handheld we’ve ever had so far.
This is super cool and interesting and something I did not know about, thank you Nick.
Good backgrounds of some "art" here, interesting choices
I didn't catch on to how great the features of that 3DS were until about 2 minutes in... had to watch the video again to see what I had missed.
great video, every shot seems perfect for the next line in the script
Next video is Nick pulling off a museum heist to obtain one of these for himself
Exited to watch another video of yours
I love how barely anyone gets the joke 🤣
I like this shorter style video, length doesn't really matter as long as you use it well. I bet these will be super hard to come across in the future, but I know it would be very satisfying to finally finish your search.
Also, if you have your own 3DS with you, you can actually buy the 3DS cartridge at the museum shop.
I was seconds away from watching this entire video without getting the gag. I was too interested in the 3DS to pick up on the joke.

Nice to see the essentials in almost every cut
Can't remember if it was the Lourve as well, but a museum also used Jailbroken iPod Touch 1st Gens as tour guides back in the day.
I'm kinda impressed that they still use 3DSes, but it's certainly a "ain't broke?"
It probably has to do with accounting, because they probably have a number of years before they can decommission the 2nd gen 3DS consoles and probably replace them with Switch Lite consoles.
Why fix, amirite
I like how every shot includes at least one ancient pp. Lol
Wow, the 3d effect almost made me feel like the art is shoved closed up to my face & my shocked opened mouth.

I used a similar Nintendo DS at the Shigureden museum in Kyoto in 2007, which was founded by the old Nintendo president, Hiroshi Yamauchi. The museum focuses on old Japanese poems, and it wasn't really easy to appreciate without speaking Japanese, but the museum staff were really nice and helpful. I remember the floor in one room was made of monitor screens, and it displayed a map of Kyoto. If you walked around and used the DS, you could interact with it, animating the floor and bringing up an explanation on the DS screens. If you interacted with Nintendo's building, an 8-bit Mario would pop up.
I like how the video says he finally got his hands on the rare 3ds. Some people would assume he now has ownership of the 3ds but he literally gets his hands on the 3ds
