Did you know that celling of mongolian ger can be used as a clock? Sun light reflects on the roof window and directs towards one of the sticks holding the celling.
So happy to know that I instinctively put our ger kitchen to the right and the altar where it should be! Love my ger!
Hey i am a mongolian tour guide and i come to that family sometimes and that dog is my friend.
Thanks guys. Watching your videos is always enjoyable.
Thanks for posting, love different asian cultures and Mongolian is no exception. Also, great to know these little things like accepting gifts with ur right hand with left hand under elbow, which side to go and also not to step on the threshold. Great to know for future reference:)
Glad you found it useful!
that was superinteresting!! how do you know all the customs and rules? for example not to cross the poles. very intresting keep it up!!
love the Ger, i helped a friend build a yurt in alaska, i loved it, i would like to know what do they burn in there stoves to stay warm and i guess to cook, they live in very remote areas with no trees.
It's been 5 years since you asked but just in case you're still wondering, we do have trees, many of them, that's how our ancestors and the modern mongolians following their legacy survive the winter! 😄 They spend the winter in the forest where the horses can dig the snow to get to the grass cus wildstock also tend to not eat in the forests during the summer but rather on the steppes (which is why the grass is so "short"), so when winter comes around there's a bunch of grass ready and waiting 😋
Berries also tend to only grow in the forests so we had to have always had forests (trees) otherwise our ancestors would've died of scurvy lol
Not to mention you kinda need wood to make saddles, homes, hashaas (fences), bow and arrows.
What most people burn nowadays though is coal if they can afford it, partially to let the forests grow as well as we can but also because it burns longer for less labour
It's a major shame in a pollution aspect but it's better than people freezing to de*th in my opinion since the worst winters can go down to -40C/F 😞
I'm sure many of our scientists and youth are working on solutions even now though, they've come up with so many already 😊
Seems cozy
excellent!! so helpful for my daughter's homeschool writing..... thanks!

So what happens if it rains? Ger gets soaked?
yes but it's dry inside. it's actually pretty warm even in winters.

Am I the only one watching for school?
Any Mongolian here to explain why there is two names for this building Ger and Yurt.. ? Is there a difference between a Ger and a yurt??
It seems they are the same concept, but "yurt" is the name in turkic languages (i.e. Kazakh, Turkmen, Uzbek) and "ger" is the Mongolian name.
@@hectorquinones5579 Thanks Hector..
@@hectorquinones5579 i thought the russians had coined the term "yurt"

they shit outside, it's like the old korean toilets, they dig up holes and put planks and have a hole in the middle for the business. and you duck.

What about your iq?
They are nomadic people. Not like your ancestor. Hha
@Long Range Rifle Yeah. Maybe you guys are always wondering some shit thougts.
That one looked like a 12' diameter. Do people live in the smaller ones or are they just used as a kitchen?
People live in the smaller ones too out in the country. They're small but have all the basic necessities!
Moderately Minimalist they cook in the Ger.
Minimalilst people must be learn that. Lol

Are you sure it's a plastic overlay? That wouldn't be very traditional...or breathable.
Neither is a tv, but this isn't medieval times.
It is 21 century!!! Then you wondering about some plastic things. And says it is not traditional. Lol🤣😂😅
Right foot first, not left! 🤦

Lol. How about your smell? Are u vegan or some shit?
You should poop in a bag, cover it in tin foil and then hide it inside someone’s ger. That will be a sight.
Where u from dickhead? U must eat nuts. I hope that help u increase your iq. Lol
Dogs will bark when you approach the ger, but they will let you leave in peace when you exit
