"Baby, I'm for Real" is a soul ballad written by Marvin Gaye and Anna Gordy Gaye, produced by Marvin and recorded and released by American Motown vocal group The Originals for the Soul label issued in 1969.
In 1992, R&B group After 7 sought to revive this song while recording their Takin' My Time album. Issued as the first release off that album, they also covered parts of Bloodstone's "Natural High". The song returned to the upper reaches of the R&B charts some twenty-three years after it was first recorded, eventually peaking at number five. - Wikipedia

Definitely the Originals. Classic Slow Dance Music.
I like both but the Originals are my favorite. But I love how After 7 blended "Natural High" to the end of their version.
Yeah, that was a brilliant touch 👌🏽👍🏽
The originals 💝
The Originals🥰🔥💯
The Originals, hands down🤷🏽♀️
I appreciate both. Vocals on each are incredible. Background on original can not get better though.
The Originals much better vocally.
No doubt the Original’s
Man, without a doubt the Originals did it best. After7 did what most artists do when they try and remake something great. They do too much and it takes the art down a notch.
Agree
Both did a great job for their era... if any modern R&B group did it now it would not fit into today's style of music... 😱Wow... there is no R&B groups today!
Hats off to After 7 for their creativity, however, the Originals had that slow and deliberate harmonic grove that caused unchecked emotions to flounder.
Baby I'm for real, yes I remember this ...
Played at the sock hops in the school gym.... why I remember??? because today is my Birthday and I was in high school, back then😆 🤣 😂 😆
Happy birthday
Happy Birthday 🎉🎉
Happy Birthday to you. I have two sisters born in May, one on the 11th and the other on the 14th.
Happy Birth Daze 🎉🎉
Happy Birthday 🎉🎂🎁
I love both versions. I prefer to hear Melvin sing lead sometimes.
Melvin after 7 killed this shit!!!!
Didn't the Originals have Marvin Gaye Producing? Different time period, and approach. The Originals.
Yes. Marvin co-erote and produced this for his good friends, Freddie, Hank, CP and Walter.
I appreciate both, but I have to admit that parts of After7’s version moved me in a way that no parts of the original did.
I'm Sorry but the very first time i heard the Originals recording of Baby Im for real i fell in love with that song because it not only said all the things i felt in my heart as far as love was concerned but it lifted and stirred my soul as with all really good love songs do and it became and still remains one of my all time favorite expressions of love, in.regatds to After 7 they sound just as soulful and smooth with their rendition of the original, in all honesty i love them both, i suppose its the hopeless romantic in me as well as my appreciation for not only good music but the heart passion and emotion that is felt in the delivery of the song and both are very good at that here, if therei is anything different that i love more its the musical arrangement of the original now that's got me swept.
Both is fire for the time it came out
Excellent comparison but my Mommy would play the original and that’s where it’s at!
The Originals. 1969 seemed like such a good year for Motown…that whole decade really but this year in particular. So many classics came out that one year.
Indeed…1969 was a great year! 🎂
The original ❤
Thank you.
I'll most definately give the edge to the Originals but After7 made it their own, if you going to remake a song that is how you do it.
For me, it's the Originals, when they dropped that jam, I was in Four Corners Okinawa. I was really missing L.A. 😎
That's a tough call.
Hands down, The Originals
I love both versions. I must admit that I like that special something that After 7 has added.
After Seven was ok, but the original by the Originals was🎯👌
Great Remake!!!! The Originals rendition is very hard to surpass!! I Applaud Both Versions!!
Without a doubt...the originals❤
After 7
After 7 version
I like both, The original has the deep soulful touch and After 7 has the groove...
99% of the time the original (no pun intended) is better than the remake. That holds true in this case. Still love After 7 though.
"The Originals."
🎶baby Baby BA-BY🎶
The original for sure 👌
After listening to the first 3 or 4 seconds of them both it was EXTREMELY easy to decide , of course the original by a million miles no Shade on the remake version .
That’s my opinion , and I’m sticking with it to the grave and beyond !!!
Need I say more ? B1 . Amin and Shalom .
It's not fair on this first song. Originals the first round. Now, let's see if The Originals can best After 7 singing one of their hits.? Oh, there's no other comparison, so this is unfair.
"no question with this o.g., the originals are the best and original effort! in my opinion, some songs should be left-alone,
no-apologies"...😎🎶
I really like them both
After 7 took it to the HOUSE!!!! Better vocals better arrangements. No disrespect to the Originals.
After 7 not even close to the Originals on vocals.
@@brodocbetty4856 entitled to your opinion. 🤷♀️
Gotta say I enjoyed the voices of After 7 even more.
No one (even at Motown) could touch Originals 4 part harmonies, much less the incredible fluctuations of CP nor the haunting ferocity of Hank Dixons’ 1-2 co-leads. Motown Forever.
THE ORIGINALS … nuff said
I like them both, but After 7's emotional crescendo did it for me. 🥰
….After 7 is better ✔️…
The Originals no comparison After 7 don't have that smoothness and soul of the seasoned masculinity .😊
This is no easy contest. The Originals are on top of their game, but After 7 has the advantage of modernity. The Originals are no doubt number one, but so is After 7. It is a close call, but I vote After 7 because the sound is crisp, and there is clear emotional involvement. I would play both versions.
The Originals. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
If one wasn't here when the ORIGINAL arrived you could be lost
After 7🔥🔥🔥
True competition here
I think the Originals nailed it, The Arrangements much better also.
Originals 🙌🏿
My kinda music
The original Originals
" 69 " ANNÉE ÉROTIQUE.
Both extremely beautiful. The energy is the difference. Its like comparing Nat King Cole to Smokey Robinson and then further compare smokey to DeAngelo. Come on...the energy is different but beautiful.
Both versions are good, but I would play the Originals version for the wife and the After 7 version for the mistress. My vote goes to the Originals.
Dummy
After 7 did it best.
Dependsupontheages
⚖ 😅
I prefer the Original, did not like the the mix of Natural high on After 7 Version and too many runs and riffs
The Originals ❤
